  • Hi...Bob from Dallas...slow and steady is the secret. I went from 284 down to 195 in about 18 months AND have managed to keep it off for the last 6 months. If I can help anyone with tips or hints, please let me know. Good luck!
  • Wow! Great story! I managed to go from 284 down to 195 in about 18 months AND have managed to keep it off for the last 6 months. PS...I also went from size 54 wait jeans down to a 36 and those 2X and 3X shirts have been traded in for mediums!
  • I will be turning 56 later this month. I've been on FitnessPal for almost 2 years (since April of 2013) Started off at 284 pounds and taking 2 different medications for high blood pressure. At my annual physical last April I was down to 215 and my doctor reduced my meds. 6 months later (Oct 2014) I was down to 195 and my…
  • I do quick and easy picante chicken. Combine boneless, skinless chicken (breasts or thighs), picante sauce, just a spoonful or two of brown sugar and mustard, a cup of rice (white or brown) and bake at 400 for about 20 to 25 minutes. One of my family's favorites.

  • Welcome. :) Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. I think you will find everyone here to be very supportive and encouraging. Good luck on your journey.

One day, I'll do a single egg scrambled with a little cheese, along with one slice of toast with a little butter or jelly; then the next day, I do a yogurt with a little granola on top or a dish of either hot or cold cereal. I try to keep my breakfasts to under 300 calories. It doesn't always keep…
  • Yes, I log lawn mowing. If you can't find it in the database, there are websites you can go to that tell you how many calories are burned doing various tasks (mowing lawn, pulling weeds, general gardening, raking, household chores, etc). Most of them base the calories burned on your weight and the number of minutes spent…
  • Hi...there are several good models of elliptical machines out there, ranging from a couple hundred dollars to upwards of a thousand (depending on how fancy the bells and whistles are). Go to a good sporting goods or department store (Academy, Sears, etc), try several different models and pick the one that feels best for…
  • Congratulations on making the choice to get healthier. MFP is a great place to track and post your progress. I have been on the plan myself since April and have lost almost 60 pounds and dropped 10 inches off my waist. The positive feedback and support you receive from MFP'ers is amazing! Good luck with your plan. :)
