From first-hand experience, you will NOT make any money your first year or two of putting on a race. There are a ton of logistics that go into putting on even a 5K. The first is getting a course set, which requires someone who is a certified course marker to put the course into place and file it with USATF. Once it comes…

If you haven't been exercising in the past (which I assume is correct since 1/3 mile has you winded), then don't think you need to just jump right in with both feet. This is a journey and one in which I hope you only have to take once. Take this one day at a time. Get the nutrition and logging down first. Being…

Sadly, that's about…

You can skimp on a lot of gear for running, but shoes will NEVER be one of them. You need to get fitted for the right kind of shoes for your running form/style. Yes, you will spend probably around $129. Mine are $175. Its cheaper than the co-pays to see a doctor when you've jacked up your legs or hips with the wrong shoes.…

My half marathon I ran Monday only had me burning 1200 calories. I am a fairly petite girl, but I had to work hard for that calorie burn! I use my heart rate monitor that was calibrated by an exercise physiologist using my measured resting metabolic rate, my measured VO2max and my lactate threshold. I just don't see how…

What was your starting weight? 180lb; I am 5'2" What's your target? 135 (however, I am now close enough that if I can continue to lose, I want to maybe be 119???) What are you now? 137lb How many calories/day do you consume? 1365 + maybe another 100 or so if I work out really hard. I try to maintain a deficit of at least…
