Progress today!:flowerforyou: Squats: 90 lbs: 3x5 92 lbs: 2x5 OHP: 47 lbs: 5X5 Rows: 60 lbs: 5x5 macybean--sorry for your loss. Dogs are amazing companions, and I can imagine that yours was happy to have such a terrific life with you.

Have fun! I bet you kill it on your Saturday morning run because you'll have fueled up the night before.

I do cardio (circuit training and kickboxing/bag work) but primarily for stress relief. I didn't necessarily have a weight loss goal, but I do know that the lifting has definitely given me more definition and made me feel a lot happier with what I see in the mirror. I think if weight loss is your goal and you enjoy cardio,…

I had to prioritize sleep this year and am just an overall better person for it. As it relates to lifting--I can definitely tell. My Saturday a.m. lifts (where I sleep about 9 hours) are always my best ones.

80 lbs for OHP is nothing short of amazing. Congrats! Posting Monday's workout: Squats: 90 lbs 5x5 Bench 60 lbs 5x5 DL: 110 1 x5 (deloaded from 117 due to hamstrings being very tight from a long Turkey Trot last Thursday). Happy Bulking Month---I mean, holidays!!

Because "You must do the thing you think you cannot do." (c/o Eleanor Roosevelt) When I step up to the squat rack or the loaded barbell on the floor, it's all about banishing the doubting voice inside of my head that says "you can't." I push increasingly heavy loads around because I CAN, and the feeling I get when I DO is…

I think that this group is probably the best place for any female-targeted SL support or information.:flowerforyou: Also, we are nice to the males that stop too!

I am still on the email list because they are humorous, so I get the notices too. I think Mehdi opens the circle doors at least once a month, so if you don't catch it this time it will come back around soon.:) I am not sure how much useful information there would be for women on the program (for some reason, I feel like…

I can relate. I work in-house (legal) and have a son who has practices 3+ a week in the evenings. I do a lot of the meal prep and dinner plus other household chores (honestly it sounds a little old-fashioned but those are things that I learned from my mom and can easily get around to them). I am the morning workout person,…

https://www.questproteinbar.com To the OP of this thread--you are my hero today!

It's different for every person and their lifestyle/fitness goals. If you just want to maintain a certain weight, you can go about by any way that makes your energy expenditure more or less equal to your calorie intake. The catch is that calorie needs change from day to day AND over time as our bodies response to…

I have 1/2 of one after my morning workout, and then the other 1/2 as an afternoon snack. The chocolate chip cookie dough one lives up to the hype (especially when microwaved for 15 seconds). They are pricey, but you can't beat the amount of protein vs. calories and net carbs and calories. Also, if you have blood sugar…

1. Resist urge to lie down on floor in semi-comatose fashion while my dog sniffs around, wondering what would have brought me to such a state. 2. Greet husband 3. Greet child who is either playing in basement or doing homework 4. Ask "who's making me dinner?" very loudly 5. Passively aggressively bang around pots and pans…

In for ALL of the adorable pixie haircuts! So cute. I am going to try and get an A workout at our company's gym before Thanksgiving travel madness sets in. BUT I have to post my latest "duh" moment: helps to have long hair in a bun when doing back squats so that the hair does not get stuck underneath the bun.

One of them is Cardio XT (shocking, I know). However, I throw in Cross Core Combat or Competition Core sometimes for this purpose. Since I do Stronglifts 5x5, I hardly every do Plyo XT in order to make sure my quads/lower body has enough recovery from back squats 3x a week.

OMG--this is incredible news!! Going to think happy thoughts for your surgery.

We have a bunch of baggies of peeled bananas cut into 1-inch sections in our freezer right now. They are the best way to make smoothies without having the melting ice diluting it. I totally did not know you could use previously frozen bananas for banana bread--and I take it you could also use them for many recipies that…

That's true too: my sister is also a master at strategic farting, and she drinks more protein shakes than my dog. She is something of a protein fart ninja.
-
You need to be more strategic about where you fart. My dog is the mastermind of strategic, disguised farting. He silently lets one out and then walks away at the exact right pace to where you think he's just sniffing around but he somehow gets far enough away from the fart cloud so that he doesn't have to deal with it, but…

Gonna go to amazon.com and buy a 5 lb. bag of sugarless gummy bears.

Congrats on your weight loss--it's a terrific accomplishment to be able to stick to something and succeed at it! I tend to agree that you may actually find even more satisfaction from other fitness goals. It may not be strength training--it might be completing something like a DVD program or running a race, etc. There are…

If you were to look in the maintenance forum, many people there (including myself) still count. I think it's because successful maintenance involves a full lifestyle change... which often results in setting new goals--strength gains, marathons, recomposition, etc.---and for those you start thinking about fueling your…

I love this--educational and awesome and cute all at the same time.

I am looking at a wrapper of one right now--it says "protein bar"--not "weight loss bar" or "meal replacement bar." So like the posters above, they would be eaten to help supplement your protein intake. I actually bought some just this past weekend, and have found them to be great for me personally because they are low on…

Totally agree that everyone is different--there are some amazing women that can squat incredible numbers that I can't even fathom squatting. In contrast, I'm a great "puller" and deadlifts and rows are the ones that I seem to progress the fastest on. But to answer your question--I started around the same time as the OP,…

Holy cow--this is almost my eating schedule to the exact time. A part of it might have to do with exercise habits and other external factors. I know timing of workout vs nutrition intake should not matter overall, but I think it helps to be cognizant of WHY you might be hungry. Case in point--nothing seems to curb my…

I work full time, have a 12 year old son in travel soccer (practice 3 nights a week plus 1-2 games on weekends), hubby also works. I get up at 5:20 a.m. and work out at home--alternate between kickboxing-type and circuit training DVDs with average workout times of 45 minutes or so. Usually I do this 4 days a week. Then, 2…

helenjon752 is in her 60s and lifts heavy. She is really inspiring (I'll send her this thread).

I think it would be helpful to clarify whether or not the calories provided are MFP net vs. TDEE. I am still using MFP (net) calculations, and currently I am at 1500 (I started with 1430 but bumped it up recently). However, in terms of gross/total calories it ranges between 1500 and 1900 depending on my daily level of…
