  • Those sound like great motivations! It is depressing to be so limited. See what you can do to surpass those limitations. My XMIL was told she'd never walk again after a stroke took half her brain. Boy did she ever prove them wrong! And I know a yoga instructor who was diagnosed early with arthritis, was told she'd never…
  • This is a good point too. I don't think I saw how overweight I was until losing it and comparing old pictures to new ones. In some ways I still don't want/like to see.
  • Also what is it you do while at the gym? I'd look for non-scale motivation. I started running "to lose weight" but since then I do it because I love it, it can be fun, the community, seeing my progress on speed and mileage etc, and weight became very much a background issue. Going to the gym "to lose weight" wouldn't work…
  • Is it that you don't care, or you're resigned? I'm confused, because accepting yourself and being happy as you are is WONDERFUL! That is to be celebrated! And yet, you're here, you've set a goal, and you're calling it a problem... So why are you here? What inspired the goal you chose? I was resigned to my weight for a long…
  • Since looking it up, now I'm even more confused. MFP seems to change my protein target from day to day? Today it has my target at 49, yesterday at 77, the day before at 64. What's going on there? I'm also still super curious to hear how you get so much protein on a vegetarian diet. My partner and are I are both vegetarian…
  • Fluctuations are a bugger. I felt great about losing more, then was right back up 2 pounds the next day. I'm going to avoid weighing myself today though because I feel bloated and "fluffy" as my partner calls it, lol. Measurements can help, one time I had the 2 pound jump I was able to see no, I hadn't lost the shrinkage…
  • Do you have Parle G? I'm learning yes, graham crackers are great. Smear a bit of peanut butter on one and it will totally satisfy cravings for peanut butter cookies. Another thing I do when craving sweet and creamy is to froth some almond milk with a bit of flavoring (mom won't stop buying me new bottles! lol) She's been…
  • Have you talked to him about PDA at the gym? Mine would hate that, he balks at sweaty hugs. Gym time is pretty parallel for us. All that I previously wrote..is not to say we haven't had our issues. He once got pissed off at me for something about push-up form in boot camp.
  • He was the one to inspire the "let's run every day and lose weight" thing initially, and for several months we would take turns kicking each other out of the bed to get moving. That helped a LOT and neither of us would have been able to keep up with it for so long on our own. He was the one that inspired me to join boot…
  • If you're not good at diet stuff, then don't do it. I'm not being snarky..just keep it simple and not go with any complicated system like that. Yes there are a million answers..there are also a lot of different body types and what works best for you may not be in any of that research. Your body knows stuff. Listen to it.…
  • Usually nothing, maybe an apple. Are you getting hungry, or just light-headed? Maybe you need blood-sugar more than calories and just some fruit or juice would help? Your current eating routine sounds fine, I've heard so many times more smaller meals rather than 3 larger ones and the whole not eating heavy before bed. Are…
  • What kind of workouts, do you know your HRM is accurate? Honestly, what's helped me break plateaus is stopping exercise for a week or two, eating normally..and then getting back to it. Like someone else said, keep the metabolism guessing.
  • What 2essie said. I have stairs in my house, but I don't count going up and down in daily living as anything worthy of logging. I think those things are factored into metabolism as the body gets used to them, and I feel like if I logged those things I'd be cheating for the extra calorie allotment. It works in my favor to…
  • I've never heard of oatmeal being bad for you before. I get the big container (cheaper and less sugar). Made with unsweetened almond milk, a Tbs of walnuts, and usually a Tbs of dried cranberries..or fresh fruit if I have it, for sweetness. There are days it really hits the spot. And it keeps me full pretty well. Today was…
  • Let me just say... thank you. I was craving sugar and you reminded me of alternatives, so I just went for a walk. I now have a few more calories to eat back than I did before and I feel better and less cravings. I want my new algorithm to be...craving? -> exercise->healthy food->before considering filling the craving.
  • Sometimes a small nap, but what seems to work best is a walk around the block. Fresh air, sunshine for the pineal gland, gets the circulation going. I should probably do that now, actually.
  • 5'2 and currently hovering around 122. I'm pretty happy here but I'd like to see what <120 looks like and lock into that range. Sadly I think the mind always changes. I used to wonder what 125 would look like, never thought I'd find out. But then this past December I freaked out when I saw 127 on the scale and want 122 to…
  • I like this idea. Guilt-free, honesty, and closure. Also, what do you know about their relationship? What I've read and everyone's getting up in arms..the assumption is being made that he's monogamous. Maybe he's not and his fiancee is totally ok with him flirting with other girls...but he hasn't said anything because some…
  • You've been in contact off work hours, what about the job ending makes you feel it's "now or never"? Looking for an excuse to leap at him? If you lose contact just because work ends, then you have your answer without having to embarrass yourself by throwing yourself at him.
  • Oh yea...pull-ups. Never thought I'd be able to do ONE, now I can do 5-6 :D
  • I had to look up what NSV means but absolutely love this thread! -The collapsey euphoric feeling after finishing my first triathlon -For that matter, learning I could swim a mile -Two PRs last year, including a 1:54 half -My general run pace increasing..I can look and be amazed at having run 3 sub 8 minute miles without…
  • I love this answer! Excuses fit in that category too. My excuse was needing more sleep. Turns out I was wrong.
  • I'm 5'2, currently 121 lbs. Unfortunately I'm not sure the last 4 weeks is a great representation.. I jumped back on MFP looks like 21 days ago. Generally I net in the 1200 range, although went way over on NYE. And then NYD woke up sick, so there were a few days I was eating under. My weight had been creeping up in the…
  • What are you eating to get that much protein? MFP sets my goal to 56 on a daily basis...according to the last two week averages, I've been short by 65-110 (for the week). 88 g protein was per the calculations put here. My scale quotes me at 25-27% BF, which would put my current LBM at 88.33..and it's one gram per pound LBM…
  • I was logging my exercise and NETTING around 1200, definitely eating back some (most?) of my exercise calories. Most days there was a 'we need to run this morning, because I want a good dinner tonight!' approach.
  • Nothing scheduled yet, but I do want to run another one this year. Maybe a triathlon too. Add me if you like, and I can also hook you up with the Weeple Army on Facebook...total race nuts!
  • Not planning any pregnancies right now, but I can still be a friend if you want.
  • Seeing TDEE referenced on the forums here a lot, I finally read this post to learn about it. And now I have some questions. Per the calculator referenced, my TDEE is around 2100 and my -20% is 1737. But I question this. On MFP's 1200 calorie recommendation I was finally able to lose 10 pounds..given yes I was exercising…
  • PS...if you lose too fast, you'll lose muscle. You may also have more issues with lose/saggy skin post-weight loss. Suggest losing a bit slower at a higher calorie intake for overall best results.
  • 1000 calories is way too little! At 121.5 I would be miserably hungry on only 1000 calories. At a higher weight, your basal burn is higher, so you need to keep your intake higher as well. Exercise on top of that...if you keep up your current rate you'll probably pass out in a few days.
