Don't change anything but your impatience for now. Your "gain" is not enough to reflect significant change. Remember this rule: if it's less than a 5lb change it isn't significant.

Successful losers don't "do the whole diet thing as well", they "do the whole exercise thing as well". This may explain your past failure to drop the weight, so it might also be the key to your success.

Weird stuff gets taught in schools. I was a student in the 90's, and I was taught that gravity is a force of attraction between two bodies that have mass. Well over half a century after Einstein figured out Newton had to be wrong.

There just isn't any positive evidence that would anyone applying the scientific method to conclude lactic acid is related to DOMS, sorry. The mechanism has been sought after for years. It never materialized. Basically, you are saying "prove it isn't true", while having no evidence to back it in the first place. The ONLY…

stop looking at my speedo and get to work

well I guess there is hope in the world.

you don't consider pain and soreness to be synonyms? I do. Although, specifically, soreness tends to imply pain not related to injury. It's fuel man, not waste. This is like, OLD news. By the time NYT wrote about it, it was old news. That was over 7 years ago. It will live on though, as long as someone has a lactate…

you were taught to balance by pressing down on the air bubble in your lungs, to "skate" at an angle instead of being flat in the water, and to power the stroke by twisting your body side to side? that's awesome. I was taught all wrong, from numerous sources until I stumbled on TI.
-
muscle soreness is still poorly understood, so your acidosis conclusion is unsound, further, it's completely unsubstantiated

The myth you are preaching was busted years ago. Time to update the old knowledge base, bro. here is a 2006 new york times article covering the science http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/16/health/nutrition/16run.html?_r=0 "As for the idea that lactic acid causes muscle soreness, Dr. Gladden said, that never made sense.…

lactic acid does no such thing. it's a primary fuel for muscle, not a waste product. it's unrelated to soreness or tightness.
-
nope, lots of competitive swimming instructors don't teach TI or are even against the concepts and technique. I once had a lifeguard at a YMCA pick a fight with me just for doing TI drills.

This isn't hard. Was the onset of soreness delayed or not? If delayed, it's delayed onset muscle soreness. If not delayed, it's an injury. It's almost like they call it DOMS for a reason relating to the definition.

My ideal woman is a thigh gap with just a shadow of a person around it

Congrats on getting clean. But maybe she doesn't want to wait 25 years to address her problem your way?

not sure about an edge, but definitely a tip.

you can hurt yourself just as much with a trx as with anything else
-
you should just do 5x5 ;) just kidding!

i think what you gotta remember is that one of the major "rewards" for lifting is you look good. then think about how you look at yourself. I mean, literally, how do you look at yourself? In the mirror. Basically, skipping leg day happens because leg day doesn't do much you can see from that angle. But isn't that selfish?…

I'm not paleo but you are welcome to friend me! I mostly do barbell lifts these days Read "starting strength" a couple of months ago and decided I wanted to be strong more than I wanted to be big, and I was quite taken with his explanations of form.
-
Disagreeing but only a bit. Muscle mass is definitely a limiting factor in absolute strength.
-
It's all of the above, not just muscle or just neurological. Limitations in any department are definitive

I do "ab moves" 2-3 times a week, usually on lower body day. But I'm doing mostly compound exercises or TRX stuff for my "other body parts". I'd say my abs look pretty good for someone who was fat at the beginning of the year.

I must be aging backwards then. Because I am now maintaining on enough to fatten me up just 12 months ago.
