  • I quit cold turkey about 5 months ago. I'd been smoking about a pack a day for well over 10 years. I definitely had a smoker's cough and a smoker's laugh...you know, that weezing sound that comes out that turns into a cough by the time you are done. For the first few weeks it was hard... but to tell you the truth, I don't…
  • Bump - Thanks!
  • I'm not a grad yet, but I am on wk7 now. I had to repeat wk4 b/c I found it really, really hard. The second time around was easier, though still a challenge. Getting through wk4 was like getting over a big mental hurdle for me. Seeing the change between my first attempt and the second gave me the boost of confidence that I…

  • I bought my Polar FT7 from Amazon a few weeks ago for about $80 and I love it. I don't have any complaints but it is the first HRM I've ever owned so I dont have anything to compare it to. It is easy to use and program, keeps track of the calories I burn, and I barely notice the chest strap. I definitely recommend it.

  • I love greek yogurt but it does depend on the brand. I'm a big fan of Fage or Chobani. While it is more expensive, the increased protein is worth it, IMHO. It is much thicker than regular yogurt, but other than that, the taste is the same to me. Add a bit of honey and some fruit and it is delicious!
  • butternut squash + sage is one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced. Roast the squash and then peel and cube it. In a skillet melt about a teaspoon of butter, sautee some garlic and red onion and sage. Add cubed butterbut squash and mix it around. AMAZING.
  • I like to add frozen blueberries and honey. Also banana and honey is pretty delish. While you can get the yogurt with honey or fruit already mixed in, it's nice having control over the amount.
  • weigh in ........... 232.6............. So, the scale definitely went up but I was expecting it. Last week the scale was at 229 unofficially - I can't resist weighing myself several times a week - but only record the Monday weight. The 220s may have been fleeting but I'm gonna try and drink lots of water, eat well this…
  • Well, it's been a fabulous weekend .. but not such a great one for the weight goals, I'm sure. Oh well, I'll weigh in tomorrow and see what the damage was. Went out with a couple friends on Friday and then the boy and I got to spend a whole day together on Saturday - that almost never happens since we are both usually…
  • Ugh. So much for getting back on track yesterday. I did my work-out, packed my lunch for the day, planned out my dinner, and then I still found myself going through Wendy's drive thru at 10 pm last night because I was hungry, hadn't made it home yet, and the idea of cooking anything that late did not sound appealing.…
  • Ok, I know I missed a lot - but here's my attempt at catching up: Hosanna - woo hoo! three nights? I think I'm jealous! Amy - I won't share any of the details for Dance with Dragon, I promise. :) And btw - I love that you have a Neil Gaiman quote in your signature. Also, are you a vegetarian? I'm not anymore, but I was for…
  • Hey ladies, I just wanted to check in. I know I'm one of the newbies that joined the group and then just disappeared - not my intention at all! I was going to try to read through all the posts to add to the conversation, but I got a bit overwhelmed to tell you the truth. So I thought I'd just make this one about me again…
  • Hi everyone - I'm a newbie and I hope its not too late to join this group! I've been on MFP off and on for about a year now and I'm really trying to make sure that this time I actually stick with it. In the past, I haven't tried to be active in the MFP community and I always fall off the wagon after a few weeks. This time,…
  • I don't know about BJs but I live in MA too, and occasionally go to to the Costco in Stoughton (I see that you live close to there)...which is actually where I found the individual hummus cups. At Costco, they have the individual hummus cups (by Sabre) where they keep the other hummus, yogurt, etc. somewhat close to the…
  • I am a big fan of hummus and crackers and/or veggies - like carrots, celery, bell pepper, etc - for my afternoon snack. If you live anywhere near a Costco (and have a membership) you can get individual hummus servings for a great price - and it's portable. I also like the hundred calorie emerald almonds - but sometimes,…
  • I know exactly how you feel. In the past, I had whole days that the only beverage I drank was my morning coffee. Now, I carry around a liter water bottle and try to drink at least two liters a day, if not more. At first, I had to go to the bathroom ALL the time. My body has since adjusted though and I go far less often -…
  • These are two vegetarian food blogs that I like to follow and they may give you some ideas. Everything I've ever made from either of them have been great. http://www.101cookbooks.com/index.html http://foodandspice.blogspot.com/ Also, some other suggestions would be: vegetable lasagna eggplant parmesan baked ziti mexican…
  • I quit smoking almost six weeks ago (cold turkey!). I am not quitting to lose weight but instead to be healthier. I figure that no matter how much weight I lose, if I still smoke then I will never be healthy. While I can't say what the effects of smoking are on weight loss, I can say what the effects of not smoking having…
  • I am definitely in! I did the wk1D1 yesterday... I thought I was going to die about half way through but I pushed through and finished it! I have never been a runner but I really, really want to stick with this and see what I can do by the end. I'm doing it on a treadmill and yesterday I walked at 3.7 and jogged at 5.2 but…
  • www.skinnytaste.com I love how she posts all the calorie information and for those who use weight watchers, she lists the points as well. Everything I've tried, tastes fantastic. Also, http://www.juliashealthyitalian.com/ I still have to modify the recipes, but she has some great ideas.
