  • If you're also working out, you need the extra protein, and it will actually aid in your weight loss. I wouldn't sweat it. As a rule of thumb, most recommend if you're working out to consume 1g of protein for each pound of body fat (not body weight), so you will be fine. I typically double what MFP recommends for me…
  • You definitely need to be eating back the exercise calories. If you're not, your body is netting less than 1,200 cals and you could be in starvation mode. I've been there, and it's very frustrating. I started eating more and I started to lose weight again. Additionally, 30DS is a great workout, but you simply don't lose as…
  • Cosamin DS is a brand of glucosamine that has helped me tremendously. I can always tell if I miss a day or two because my knees start hurting again.
  • Not sure about a lower impact workout for you, but Cosamin DS has really helped my knee issues. It is a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement that you take daily and it has made a huge difference for me and other folks that I know who take it.
  • Insecurity. A woman who doesn't like herself is one of the most unattractive traits to me. A woman who is confident (but not over the top) is sexy.
  • I mix half greek yogurt with half Hellman's light mayo. Adds protein and cuts back on the cals and fat. I do the same with things that call for sour cream (half greek yogurt mixed with half light sour cream). The taste is still good to me.
  • I think most people who truly go from the couch to running probably start with a 5K, which is why you've probably had difficulty finding a free program. I'd suggest starting with a 5K and there are several free programs online; however, if you truly want to start at 10K here is a link.....…
  • Bodybuilding.com is a great place to research brands, prices, and read reviews on the various flavors. Again, I've tried a bunch and for me Optimum Nutrition is the best quality for the money. There may be some that are slightly better, and there are definitely some that are more expensive, but ON is great quality without…
  • Optimum Nutrition whey is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. They can be used as a meal replacement, or as a snack. They can help build muscle and increase the calorie burn and are especially helpful in combination with a good workout plan. I also recommend Casein protein in the evening. It is a slower acting…
  • As long as you get back on track tomorrow, all will be fine. Sometimes when I hit a plateau it helps to have a day like you had today to reset my metabolism. I bet within a couple of days the end damage won't be near as bad as you think.
  • My wife picked up a really nice one for around $25 at Sam's Club this weekend. It was a 2 piece, and it was specifically marketed as "slimming". Good luck!

  • I have the same issue (always over on protein). I discussed it with a trainer at my gym and he felt MFP's recommendation for protein was really low, and advised that I should be getting a whole lot more. He recommended 20g + of protein at every meal and snack, 5-6 times per day, which adds up. If you're working out…

  • I was lost too, so THANKS for asking the question!
  • This actually happened to me a few weeks ago. I was working out harder than ever and eating healthy, and was very excited to get on the scale and measure my results. I was super disappointed at the end of the week when I weighed myself and had not even lost a pound. After speaking with a few people, they suggested that my…
  • I agree with the others too....you need to get professionally fitted. Especially if you plan to do any running. We have a Fleet Feet in my area which is where I went and was very pleased with the results. I went in with an open mind determined to find a pair of shoes that would make running less painful. I walked out with…

  • I'd recommend Mahi Mahi or Flounder. My wife does not like fish either, but she has no problem with either of these mild fish, and actually likes them quite a bit if prepared properly.
  • I think it's awful, but my wife loves it. I've tried several brands and just can't do it. Wish I could because it is really good for you, and an excellent source of protein. I do however use it as a substitue for sour cream and like it a lot for that purpose. Also, anything that we use mayo for (i.e. tuna salad), I'll…
  • I just bought the Omron HR-100C on Amazon for $32.99. The reviews are 4/5 stars and it looks pretty good for the money. Time will tell. It just came today so I haven't actually used it yet, but I have unpacked it. So far I'm impressed with what I see after unpacking it and reading the instructions. I didn't realize that it…
  • Just don't drink too much. I drank a whole jar once when I was younger because I loved it so much. It wasn't 30 minutes before it all came back up. I used to also make pickle juice popsicles when I was younger. Tasty! I had forgotten about those....may have to try them again this summer.
  • I'd HIGHLY recommend the Escali scales. I first tried the Taylor digital. I could never get the same reading twice. I could get on and have one reading, get off, and then immediately get back on and have a reading as much as 3 pounds off from the first reading. Really frustrating for me. Next, I went back to the basics and…
  • I just ordered the Omron HR-100C on Amazon for $32.99. The reviews are 4/5 stars and it looks pretty good for the money. Time will tell. If money wasn't an object, the Polars have consistent high reviews, but they are considerably more expensive as well.
  • Yes, it absolutely can. I used to do a "boot camp" which consisted of primarily circuit training, and we'd burn about 800 calories in 45-50 minutes. And time would go by really fast, which was awesome.
