With my RNY I was in the hospital mostly sleeping and walking the halls for 3 days. For the first week of recovery my husband managed the house and kids with very little input from me. I focused on pain management and walking and just resting. The second week I started to do more around the house just remembering not to…

The way I see it you have two or more options. 1. go to another surgeons seminar. Some doctors have an agenda to push one particular product for whatever reasons, bottom line is the doctor's recommendation should be based on your needs, lifestyle and goals not his. 2. List these complications you are scared of here and let…

I was keeping my protein up just fine when it hit a sort of terminal loss rate that left me crying in the bathroom one morning. It was the hormones; and I seem to have leveled off now but my hair was making me feel less attractive then being fat. My solution was to cut it off to make it look thicker as the ends were the…

I've eaten under 1200 for over a year and seem to be losing just fine. There are a lot of haters who think and are willing to say, their way is the only "right" way but you'll learn fast that your diet is as personal to you as your body.

Why would you worry about protein? I have 5 go to snacks, greek yogurt, a protein bar, a protein shake, cheese, and popcorn; and yeah I know that last one doesn't fit but I like it and it's about the only salty snack I eat. As for finding time to exercise, you have to make it, but if you are eating at a calorie deficit the…

surely they will, my doctor cleared me after 2 weeks but when I nearly hurt myself about a month and a half out I wished I had waited a little bit longer to let those tummy muscles heal up. You could always encourage your doctor to clear you by saying you'll start slow.

41 year old mom of two girls ages 6 and 2, working full time with a 1 hour commute each way. I've been in your boat, though my weight loss journey is winding down. I wish more than anything that I had some better pictures of me in the before stage, but I hated the way I looked so much there are few to compare. I have a few…

There is no right or wrong answer. I weigh daily because I don't get freaked out about small changes and like to monitor trends so that I stay on track. Not everyone can do that without getting a little crazy. Bottom line is what makes you most comfortable, helps you feel like you are in control and doesn't add more stress…

ba bam! you look great!

I have PCOS as well and about a year before having surgery my insulin resistance had developed into full blown diabetes. I've had the RNY so the sugar thing is just straight off the board for us initially. We also eat extremely low carb on the front end as well. I still eat pretty low carb, less than when I was a diabetic…

I've had to buy a lot of clothes along the way but the one thing I am waiting to buy until I reach my goal is a little black dress.

#2 to reduce the chance that my kids would be bullied in school for having the fat mom.

it's not exercise, it doesn't do anything for your muscles, it's just a metabolism boost because your body needs more energy to make milk. I'm in agreement with the others eat more calories to keep your supply up for the wee one and to stay healthy, but don't count it as anything.

Don't go shopping while on pain killers post surgery. Seriously. A few days after I got home from the hospital I wanted to get out of the house I was stir crazy and needed to walk and get some sun so my husband took me to the bass pro shop where I blew tons of money. I'm a tight wad and never spend money on myself, my…

Exercising with a diet helps to maintain muscle mass as you are always at risk of losing muscle as you lose weight; it's the prefered method but not the only one. Sometimes you have to lose the weight through diet before you can exercise safely. If I had not had access to a pool to do low impact water workouts I would have…

I crave junk during my cycle but if it's not in the house I can't eat it. I would start by making a sweep of the fridge and panty then replacing the junk with healthy choices. Snacks are fine in moderation and when you need to bing you can't really do much harm with celery or carrots.

seems to me it doesn't matter if it comes from coconuts, cane, or beets it's just sugar and that leads to dumping and all the bad foods that make us fat in the first place. I would stay clear and stick with the sugar free sugar but that's me.

your meals look like my snack foods... bottom line is are you reaching slight calorie deficit and are you exercising. You could lose weight eating cookies so long as you at them at a deficit of what your body burned for a long enough period of time.

at just over 260 I saw a doctor and a fitness trainer, One helped me build a 1200 calorie low carb diet (I WAS a diabetic) the other put me in a pool where I could build strength and stamina until I lost enough weight to try new things. At 200 pounds I started adding out of pool cardio like elliptical, treadmill and just…

research isn't hard and fast but it looks like you can absorb and average of about 30 grams per sitting the rest just passes without adding much to your nutrition totals except calories.

wait until you lose enough weight that they start brining you in on the jokes and you get the wake up call that it wasn't in your head, they are really talking about you. This has happened to me several times now that I'm getting thinner and frankly I never imagined it as ugly as it really is.

11-1-12 = 169.0 11-5-12 = 168.4 (-0.6) = running 25 minutes solid. 11-12-12 = 164.4 (-4.0) = running 26 minutes solid. I have never had a 4 pound week, wow. 11-19-12 = 164.8 (+0.4) = running 28 minutes solid. gain but still well in advance of projected average. 11-26-12 = 165.2 (+0.4) = running 30 minutes solid. Gain again…

I had to laugh at myself a little as I was typing the tale so I don't mind if anyone else has a giggle at my expense :) I may also add that they were the long torso to thigh control tops which is probably why the result was so dramatic, basically I was a human sausage roll, but hey I looked great! I'm probably going to try…

I switched to diet but eventually I wanted to give it up completely and I found it easier to make excuses to have "just one" once I was drinking diet. I had to go cold turkey, pick a day on the calendar and just say no more!
