  • My suggestion to everyone is to set weight loss at .5 pound a week. If you go under the recommended calorie goals you can lose more quickly. If you are hungry eat at the goal and be satiated. I lost 70 pounds using this theory. Some days I was under by A LOT and other days I barely came in at goal. It's all about balance.…
  • set your weight loss at .5 pounds a week and proceed. What's your hurry?

  • Over the last several months I have noticed a creep as well. I went from maintaining at the low end of my range to the upper end. I simply cut back a bit on portions and am creeping back down. My point is make a small adjustment downward and watch. I think the biggest mistake people make when losing is to tie weight loss…
  • Body weight training works. The military is a great example. Do whatever you decide and see how it works out. If you don't get the results you desire do additional research adjust and repeat.
  • One other thing. Did you check your pulse? Maybe the fit bit is wrong. Either way it is probably not slow enough to be an issue.

  • Best response: No I'm shooting for my birth weight.
  • It's Rye whiskey and dark chocolate this evening. In case you're keeping score.
  • I do feel colder after weight loss. This has not changed after about 3 years in maintenance. For me it is a blessing. I use to sweat walking up a flight of stairs. Now I don't break into a good sweat until the third mile of my runs. I tend to wear long sleeves more often, and a jacket is common until late spring/early…
  • I did not find losing 70 pounds particularly difficult. Nor is maintenance. I continue to track on MFP and keep on keeping on. I think the deciding factor is your mental outlook. Like others have said: losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Pick your hard. I, after years of picking fat, decided to try normal weight for…
  • Public house Elusive IPA it is. Thanks for the input.
  • I prefer in the late afternoon about an hour after dinner. It's just what works for me. The best time to work out is an individual thing. If I had to work out in the morning I never would. I'm not a morning type person.
  • I use run keeper. You can log rung, walks, biking and a few other things. There is a free version , which I use and you can upgrade with more features. It works well for me. For my runs/walks I get distance, pace elevation and total time.
  • Had pancakes for breakfast with butter and pure maple syrup. YUM
  • That's why I drink whiskey :-)
  • You're doing it right. Keep on keeping on.
  • The Chinese buffet is the devil. I think I'll hit it up for lunch today.
  • My previous employer has a gym. I retired and still had access. The drive to the gym kept me from going. 20 minute drive each way was isn't much but it was enough for me to stop going. I signed up for gym membership at a place 2 miles from home. Initially I signed up because I did not want to do cardio (run) outside in the…
  • I use surgical tape. I first got this problem last summer when I upped to 5 miles a day. I wore a polyester shirt but it had graphics from a 5K. One you get "runner's nipples" they are sensitive for a wile. I ended up just putting a square of surgical tape over each nipple. Problem solved. This has not re-occurred yet this…
  • An extra day off from training here or there will probably do more good than harm. I often take a few days off just to let the old body chill. As far as Taco Bell I haven't been there in years but it also should not hurt at all so long as you stay within or close to your calorie goals. Even if you go wayyyy OVER once it…
  • I work out in the evening after dinner. I am not a morning person so exercising early ain't happening. Probably the best answer is do what works for YOU. I doubt there is a "best" method.
  • Like the OP I also do not like lifting weights. I lost 70 pounds and did it with diet. I added cardio, mostly running outside, or an elliptical in the winter. This winter I started lifting. I like the machines, not so much with the free weights. I do not lift "heavy". I lift what I can do 10 reps of and feel the burn. I…
  • Love these responses. The most important thing no matter the endeavor is to have some fun. I get to shovel snow today!!!!!!!! Whoo Hoo Let it Snow!!!!!!! NOTE: For those of you who live in warm states snow is a cold white substance that falls from the sky in winter. It accumulates on everything. One has to use a shovel…
  • I lost 70 pounds and got this often. I even had some people ask me if the weight loss was intentional (implying I was sick). I always smiled and said Yes it's intentional. To the people who told me I was too skinny my reply was yea I know I need to get into the gym more. I've been at my current weight for over 2 years and…
  • I recently started at a gym. I have been running for a couple of years and using an elliptical when the weather, darkness made running unattractive to me. I've never before had a gym membership. The guy who signed me up showed me around and gave me an overview of what they had. Yesterday, about 3 weeks after joining, I had…
  • This is an interesting thread for me because I don't plan anything. Yes I do plan what I am going to eat tomorrow because I have to cook. That being said if I decided I want pizza instead, or a few beers I do it. The only consideration I make is my total calorie count. If today it looks like I'm going over I either don't…
  • Pretty much daily. It's a habit like brushing my teeth. I like to try and predict the fluctuations based on my previous day's eating. Yea, I'm weird like that. Been maintaining about 2 1/2 years.
  • You are maintaining. Right? You feel good. Right? You have energy. Right? If you answered yes to the previous questions you are doing it right. Don't worry so much about the numbers. If you are consuming more calories due to your miscalculations, so what. If you are actually eating at a slight deficit time will reveal that…
  • You do realize that in losing 7lbs a month you will be down 84 pounds in a year? Sounds pretty impressive to me!!

  • My breakfast. Chocolate cake. Sorry no pic since I already ate it.
  • You can lose weight safely, or you can lose weight fast. You can't do both.
