  • The first step would be to stop worrying about WHAT you eat and focus on HOW MUCH you eat. If you are a junk food junkie then be so. Just stay within your calorie goals, whatever you eat. Once you get your calorie intake under control then focus on what you eat. From your original post it sounds as if you were trying to…
  • Focus on your calorie goals. Once you get a handle on that then work on healthy eating, whatever that may mean to you.
  • All good questions for your doctor. I have no personal experience to share.
  • focus on the calorie deficit. Once you get that problem handled then continue to make small modifications in macros. If you try to do too much all at once you end up failing.
  • Well. Did you start. How did it go? To get results rinse and repeat regularly. Increase time/intensity as you progress. Add a calorie deficit and you will lose weight and get healthier and more fit.
  • You've lost 12 pounds. That's a win. Remember you did not gain your weight quickly, so losing quickly is irrelevant. What is relevant is you are heading in the right direction. Keep on keeping on.
  • Oh, yeah, sometimes I run so I can eat more ice cream. I'm flexible like that.

  • I like to run because I can drink more beer. What kind. Local craft beer of course. The only reason to exercise is for a reward. Be it fitness, or well, beer. You do you and I'll do me.

  • Why are you waiting until tomorrow? That's how failure begins. Start TODAY.
  • I'll drink to that.
  • This thread has left me struggling on my food choices for tonight's snack. Will it be beer or ice cream. Oh, the struggle is real.
  • To answer the OP's original question. Swimming is probably the best cardio do do with knee injuries. No stress at all on the joints.
  • To the OP. With your stats why are you only eating 1200 calories a day? I'm a male and am 6'1". I weighed 265, and got down to 190 by setting my MFP to lose .5 pounds a week. I lost much quicker by leaving behind calories, but always had the ability to eat them all and still be on track to lose. IMHO the reason most people…

  • Reading through this thread I am beginning to think I'm the freaky one. Sometimes my biggest meal is breakfast, sometimes it's lunch, but usually it's dinner. Maybe I should see a doctor about this????????????

  • I have never kept track of my fluid intake. I just pay attention to my urine. If it's clear or light yellow I'm good. If it's dark then I need to up my fluids. To answer the question though, if I was tracking water I would count coffee the same as water since I drink it black and, well, it's pretty much water.

  • My go to lunch is a PB&J. Love em, have one almost every day for lunch.
  • Find a coffee shop that serves good coffee then get it black. Starbucks sucks IMO. I only drink black coffee and their's tastes burnt to me.
  • I tried that. It's nasty in my opinion. The solution is either don't deprive yourself generally and you will be less likely to binge. Solution #2 don't bring it into the house. If you have an ice cream craving to to a local ice cream shop and get a small cone, or scoop and then quickly leave.
  • Well, there's your first goal. Be able to weigh yourself on your home scale. Just eat at a modest deficit that is sustainable for you and you'll be there soon. Remember the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady will win the race. Good luck
  • You lose weight in the kitchen. Weight loss is all about eating at a calorie deficit, and has nothing to do with exercise. You improve your fitness in the gym. So, if you want to lose weight you simply need to eat at a deficit.

  • Domino's. Sorry I couldn't help myself. I love to cook so I just go to the grocery store, buy ingredients and cook something fabulous.
  • I have a Keurig and use it almost every day. I also have a Bunn Coffee Maker and use it. If I plan to be home all day I will often use the Bun. For the grab and go cup of coffee the Keurig is nice. Like others have said to each his/her own.
  • One of the best descriptions of life I have ever read. Now kick *kitten* rinse, repeat.
  • Your post highlights the basic fact that achieving goals are really about 90% mental. You have the knowledge, and the ability to eat at a healthy intake. You have the knowledge and ability to maintain a healthy weight. You have the knowledge and ability to achieve your physical fitness goals. We all have those abilities.…
  • Weight loss and lifestyle changes are a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race. You didn't get fat in a month so don't expect much progress in a month. Give the program at least six months regardless of your goals. At the end of those six months, if you are being truthful in your logging and you maintain a…
  • I've read through this thread and have only one thing to add to the OP. Does this school have accreditation in your state? Here's a good place to start: https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/ Accreditation serves two purposes. #1 it lets you know you are plunking down money for an education that is at least going to be…
  • Have you adjusted your intake goals? As you lose weight you will require fewer calories. You have lost 12 pounds. Put your new weight into the settings and see if the allotted calories go down. If you are adjusting calories down as you lose then there is much good advice above to reflect upon. Hang in there. A two week…
  • I have a two beer limit when I am driving. And the nasty sound fries were magnificent. :-)
  • First beer was a Hefeweizen. Second beer an IPA 110 IBU
