I started at 323, but people noticed when I'd lost 40lbs, after about 8 weeks. The weirdest thing is that you don't necessarily want to buy a new wardrobe until you get to the end of your journey, but it's very rewarding when you do.

"Never say never"! You've done so well, you are an inspiration to all.

Thanks for this. Just had an MRI on my knee for a niggly issue and the radiographer noticed my bone density was down from a year ago. They are scheduling a dexa scan in the next few weeks to see what's up. I said to the doctor that it's probably the rapid weight loss (46% in 14 months) and the reduction of milk (I used to…

nice work. keep it up :-)

One of my main motivations was simply walking whilst listening to podcasts, catching up on things that usually pass me by whilst I sat in front of the TV. Now you barely see me in the house when I'm not working. More recently, I've taken to looking for exercises that I can still do in front of the TV without equipment…

you can do it. One of the best things about this site is that you can surround yourself with people who face the same challenges as you, and eventually, you can inspire them too. Never give up!

You've done an amazing job looking after your husband, kids, studying and still losing weight. An inspiration to all.

I plan on keeping up with MFP and watching my portion sizes :-) Hopefully I can lose the final 13kg of my target by easter.

Well done. I love the muscle definition on those arms.

I love being able to chase my kids around in the garden or on the field. I'm also kind of addicted to buying new clothes since losing the weight. Most of all, I like that I can control my eating habits so that I don't end up where I used to be.

I've primarily walked for the last 8 months ( a bit less now as it's too dark to go offroad where I live in the evening), and my weight loss speaks for itself - 54 kg (119lbs) lost and counting. I've gone from a 52 chest to 42 (in terms of a suit I recently bought). My waist has gone from a bulging 44inch to 34 inch at the…

It's great to hear of your success, you've accomplished an amazing thing. Can I ask one thing, do you get a kick out of buying smaller clothes ( I never used to when I was big, but I'm loving it now) ? :-)

That is an amazing achievement,. You've proved that dedication and commitment will produce the results. A terrific role model for us!

I think you've done a really great job. I'm still an amateur in terms of analysing my food and as I get closer to maintenance, I'm wondering about my macros (I haven't much of a clue where I should be going with them). I'll have a good read of those references tonight. thanks. jet

This is purely from my own experience, but when I switched from tea to coffee for a few weeks, I found myself losing less weight. The rest of the food/excercise lifestyle stayed the same just in case they influenced matters. I also found myself not going for a number 2 as regularly. As soon as I went back to tea (2 a day),…

I was in the same boat until a month ago, my confidence has grown so much since she has noticed. I think she felt pressured when other people in our company would repeatedly compliment me. I don't understand why it happened either. Keep up the terrific work I'd say. She'll eventually notice.

thanks again to my brothers and sisters here on this intrepid journey.

I use the following graph as a guide, making sure I don't lose too much each month.,

For me, the scale is my friend. I started with a pair of old analogue scales that did as yours, fluctuated wildly. In fact to start with, they didn't even measure to the weight I was. I invested in a decent digital scale costing about £35 and haven't looked back. It measures your body fat, muscle mass, water content and…

Inspirational. You've transformed your appearance and as you said, you have gained so much more self confidence. I whole heartedly agree that what's works for one person may not for another. We are all unique. Congratulations again. You should be really proud of yourself.

That's what I have wanted to hear, I ultimately want to to cut back on my bp meds. There is hope for me yet. We'll done mate.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the feedback. I think it's worth a little celebration meal tomorrow with my little terrors ;-) and dear wife (she's obviously way to good for me as she's put up with me disappearing for hours each evening as I've been on this journey). Ive also started picking up some heavier weights…

Absolutely, walking walking walking. I generally do about 40mins at lunch time ~ 2 miles and then either the treadmill in the garden shed for 30 or 45 mins at a fast walk or about an hour of actual walking as we live on the outskirts of a town, so there are lots bridleways and footpaths offroad that are inspiring. More…

324lbs and 5'10" that was jan 20th 2013 when I started. 217lbs and 5'10" now

Well done. I've done the same for the same reasons, and now my kids call me "medium daddy" rather than "fat daddy". It means so much to me that it's spurring me on further and further. I went down the same route as you, walking and sorting my "junk portions" out. Isn't it an amazing feeling ? Again, congratulations on your…

Excellent job, it's inspiring to see others doing so well. It's great that you were smiling before and have an even bigger smile now. Keep it up!

I totally agree with your sentiments! Losing 2 or 3 kg's in a week for me mean that I can enjoy my time at the weekends with the family and I've still a net loss at the end of the week. It doesn't take long to lose it again in my case. I mean, being able to share on of those huge ice creams with the kids is just the best…

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I actually feel better for it. jet
