5hrs 39 minutes in open water

10 miles today. Actually more like 18,000 yards.
-
Thanks! I get slower once I pass the 8,000 mark.

I set a new PR for distance swam with 13,000 yards. It took 3:30:01.

My pool switched from short course yards to long course meters today. 5100 meters.

My totals for 2020

I swam over 700 miles in a year when my pool was closed for two months.

I'm working up to 16km. That's the distance of a lap between two marinas in a lake near where I live. There are three open water races in three different lakes near where I live. Complete all three races in a year, and you're a Utah Triple Crown winner. Fewer than 30 people have done it. I'd like to be one of them. The…

I started the year doing 3,600 yards/day 6 days/week. I got sick in February, covid hit in March and shut down my pool until mid May. When I started back up again, I started with 5,000/day and slowly ramped up from there. I'm up to 7,200-8,000/day. I'll miss a day or two for other things like not sleeping well the night…

I'm impressed with your times! I've been swimming +/- 7200 yards (~6.6km) five or six days/week since August, and I'm usually coming in at just about two hours. Well done, Emma!

When you reach goal weight, you won't necessarily look like you thought you would. I'm three pounds under goal, and although my arms and chest look about how I imagined, I still have room for improvement in the stomach area. I feel great, though, and I'm losing weight that I officially gained as a teenager.

I have been tracking how far I've been swimming this year using a spreadsheet that breaks out distances by day, week, month, and year with averages and totals for each. I looked at my total yards today and found that I had broken one million yards this week. With my pool being shut down for two months during a global…

I swam 9,000 yards (8,230 meters) on Saturday (2hr. 34 min) as part of a campaign to raise money for a family friend who has just been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer. He's an ultra-marathoner, and lives a super clean life, so lung cancer in his mid-30s feels like it's completely out of nowhere. It…

7,500 yards today. ~ 2hr. 20 min.

The rules: Showers are open for swimmers only. The lockers are blocked off. One swimmer per lane. No team or masters swimming. No socializing on the deck. Limit your workout to one hour if there are people waiting to get in. Lifeguards are to wear masks. Maintain a social distancing standard of six feet apart. How it…

My pool opened last Wednesday, and I'm up to 35,000 yards AQ (after quarantine). The first day felt like I was swimming through maple syrup. Each day after has been easier.

YES! 5000 yards, and it killed me and I'm so happy!

I hate that my pool is closed indefinitely.

I missed two entire weeks due to illness. It was just a simple cold, but I wanted to go back only when I was asymptomatic on account of everybody being afraid the person coughing has coronavirus. 5400 today to make up for some of that two weeks. I've been keeping track of all my yardage this year, and I finished 155,000…

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Whether you intend on a diet or diet/exercise regimen, you'll be uncomfortable at the start. You're going to be hungry. You're going to be sore. You may be sleep-deprived. If you work out in the morning, you will not want to leave the warm bed at 5 AM. Comfort foods are out.…

After my workout, I try to sit in the steam room or sauna so that my skin can sweat out all the chlorine I've absorbed. I'm not sure if this is a placebo effect, but if so, at the very least it feels nice to sit, meditate and sweat it out. I hate when people come into either with: 1) headphones blaring; 2) their gym…

It killed me for sure. I could barely roll myself up and out of the pool afterward. I try for 2 miles/day. I made up three of the missed miles from last week and fell short of the overall weekly goal of 21,600 yards by 1,600. I'm ahead 500 yards this week so far. 4100 today.
-
6000 yards because a snow storm kept me in bed on Monday morning, and an alarm clock mishap made me sleep in on Tuesday. Gotta catch up for the rest of the week.

I swam 30,000 yards this week.

5,000 yards today and 30,000 yards for the week. I need a nap.

Sweet potatoes. They're filling, provide good energy, and are easy to cook. You can even microwave a raw sweet potato in about six minutes. I like them with a little Moroccan spice blend I've found. No butter, olive oil, or sugar needed.
