  • This looks exhausting. Did you take a nap before returning to work?
  • I just went through all my previous posts to see what I had forgotten from the last time I lost weight on MFP. This thread is awesome, and it needs to make a comeback. So post here to vent all that haterade you've been storing up during your laps, and get it all out. I hate forgetting my stroke count while doing backstroke…

  • Yesterday I tied a necktie I hadn't worn in a few months. I can usually tie all my ties perfectly the first time around. I just kind of know where the long and short ends should go. Well I tied it long. After feeling off my tie game, I realized that I would have tied it perfectly a few months ago, but the tie doesn't have…

  • Have you tried anti-chaffing products for runners? They are a little more widely available. I've found success using them in the water as well.

  • Swim shampoo, leave in conditioner, cocoa butter. That's all.
  • Swim harder so that you're sweating through your eyes, and after a few flip turns, everything should sort itself out.
  • Swam last night, but didn't post (I often don't post). All measurements in yards: 400 Warmup 6 X 50 on 1:05 5 X 50 on 1:00 4 X 50 on 0:55 3 X 50 on 0:50 2 X 50 on 0:45 1 X 50 on 0:40 4 X 100 kick w/20 sec rest between 4 X 100 on 1:20 250 cool down
  • Yes and no. My technique is already excellent, but doing the drill helps speed. Typically turns are a slow down point. The slowing can be mitigated by implementing the drill as standard procedure in a racing situation. My purposes for doing the drill are more centered around moving my heart rate up. It's more geared toward…
  • Next time: don't ask; get in the lane when her back is turned, and she is at the opposite end; wait for her to make it back to your end; without saying a word, take off on one side of the lane. She will be forced to split, and if she flips out at you, ignore her and keep swimming. She's in the wrong, and she knows or ought…

  • Six, Six, Six, Six, Six, Six, Six. Oh crap! Here comes the wall and the seventh lap is a sprint. Flip, turn, kick, kick, kick. Sprint! Oh joy! Here comes the wall again. Bring it back down to pace for eight. Tacos al pastor sound good right about now. I could also really go for a roast beef sandwich. Did I do eight yet, or…
  • turtle0022, anti-fog coating is a gimmick. Any anti-fog will become ineffective over time. A simple solution is repugnant to many newbies, but is tried and tested by long time swimmers. Simply spit in each goggle, rub it around with your finger, and then rinse it out. Goggles will stay clear for your whole workout. If…
  • Swedes all day every day!
  • And yet you include Lorde on your list, a 16 year old girl from New Zealand whose mother was a poet laureate, who doesn't use the hype surrounding her to act like a deplorable human being like Bieber or Miley, who actually writes all her own songs (the same can't be said for Hova or Beyonce), who is actually a pretty…
  • I'm still a work in progress, and so no after photos, but see my profile picture for a progress photo.
  • I'm not an OW swimmer, but, like you, I was a sprinter in high school. I now swim 5ks, and I'm working on developing as a short, mid-range, and distance swimmer. What I've found to be helpful in making the transition is training in sets that get longer over time. So for example, you could develop 4 sets totaling 450/set,…
