This is really helpful, thank you!

I plan breakfast, lunch and dinner to be about 500 calories each, plus snacks. Sometimes dinner will be much bigger if I'm eating out especially, and I adjust other meals and snacks accordingly. I usually budget a couple of squares of raw chocolate and a frozen yoghurt into my snacks for the evening, and pre-log them. If I…

Would also be worth trying Pilates as well, with an instructor who is also a qualified physiotherapist. They can work within your limits and strengthen your weak areas.

I started walking home from work every day, and didn't change the way I was eating at all, at first. I still lost weight. I then tried a crash diet a few times, but it was so restrictive I'd always regain. I rejoined the gym, and focussed on increasing my fitness and strength instead of focussing on my weight. I'd…

I usually use the estimate MyFitnessPal gives for Pilates, under exercises. I have a feeling the burn is actually higher though.

I'm on the last week of her Beginner's Calendar, but I'm not following her eating plan or the challenge. I eat A LOT more (my philosophy is Eat More To Weigh Less) and am still losing weight. Since adding in Cassey's calendar to my workouts on top of core work I was doing on my own, my belly is smaller and flatter, my abs…

I have an old neck injury and when I ramped up my training and weight loss, I put my neck out really badly a couple of times. The pain was unbearable. My chiropractor said perhaps it was because my weight isn't "stable" and my body is compensating for that. Once my neck was adjusted though I was no longer in pain. My…

You are dreamy. Congratulations on all your hard work and success.

I've had my H7 a few weeks. The only problem I've had is that the Digifit app wouldn't always recognise it - I actually thought the problem was my H7, even swapped out the battery! The Polar BEAT app has NO problems recognising the H7. I'd really like to try the Endomondo app for intervals but I've read online that it also…

Please add me

I shared this on all my social networks yesterday -- it needed to be said. Exercising while someone yells at you until you cry and vomit isn't healthy, it is masochism.

I've got a Polar FT4 which is great - but I use my Polar H7 instead. The H7 is a strap that has a bluetooth connection so my iPhone picks it up, and I can monitor my heart rate and calories burned in the app. I would recommend either, depending on whether you have a smart phone or not. The H7 is slightly more expensive…

I've learnt so much from the forums and friends here, and from the In Place of a Road Map and Eat More To Weigh Less groups particularly. I've asked a lot of questions and I have reevaluated my goals as my fitness and strength increases, as I lose weight, and as my metabolism has increased. I adjust my calorie goal daily…

The flu shot only protects against a few strains of the flu, but considering those strains can land you in hospital, it's worth it if you're worried about getting sick. I always get a flu shot because they are free at work, and I'm an asthmatic - a flu can be very, very dangerous for me. I think it's personal preference…

I have this problem too and my sprints (on elliptical) are one minute and I can't get my heart rate up above 160 most of the time. I know I am really fit, but I feel like I'm working really hard! The same when I do solid state on Level 8 on a stair machine which KILLS me. I might try to adjust the resistance on the…

Wow, you look incredible! Well done on all your hard work!

The Blogilates Bubble Butt workout is good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faQ9lkjiRaM Most of the work I've done though is from the stair machine and squats

Such a difference, you look fantastic!

Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate at this link http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and eat the 20% suggested calorie deficit. You will lose weight regardless of whether you're exercising or not. Invest in a Fitbit or any other fitness tracker, and track how many steps you take a day, and what your calorie burn…

You may feel "puffy" on Prednisone but a short course shouldn't result in weight gain, or any weight gain will only be temporary. Likely that your doctor has only prescribed you a very low dose. I would recommend resting (not exercising) while you're taking it, because as a drug I've found it put my body under a lot of…

I don't drive, so other than public transport for further distances, I try to walk as much as possible for NEAT. I do so much other exercise at the gym (cardio, lifting) and home workouts (Pilates, yoga) because I love food! I am miserable when I'm hungry. Exercise is also a great stress reliever for me, and really helps…

I eat fruit, and always go over on sugar. Most days I will also eat a couple of squares of sugar free raw chocolate, and a frozen yoghurt that has a small amount of sugar in it. I had a glucose tolerance test recently that was normal. I used to binge on sugar and since calorie counting I have dramatically decreased the…

Well done!!

Exactly how I feel. and thank you OP, for this post. I really, really appreciate it, so encouraging for where I'm at.

If your gym does BodyPump, it's actually a great cardio workout that can help you learn the correct form for weight lifting. You don't need to put heavy weights on your bar, or you can just use the bar itself until you get stronger, if you want! When I first started BodyPump years ago, I think I started with 2.5kgs each…

I think investing in an elliptical trainer or a treadmill at home would be great, especially as you could jump on it when your child naps, or if you're still working from home, schedule a workout into your day. I personally prefer the elliptical trainer as it is low impact, but I can still push myself really hard if I want…

Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate your advice and suggestions! I've made notes of everything and will put together some links for her.

You're very welcome to add me here as a friend, as are others from this thread. My diary is open, too. I'm 5"4 and currently weigh 194lbs (88kgs). I started at 241lbs (109kgs) just over a year ago. I've been learning as I go, with a lot of advice and ideas from people on this site. I follow the "Eat More To Weigh Less"…

You look great and so glad you're proud of yourself! I agree that much of the transformation needs to be mental too -- releasing any anger or shame we hold in our posture. Possible to feel "lighter" even before we get to a goal weight, if our emotional state and thinking changes. So happy for you.

I love the gym on a Friday night because I rarely have to wait for machines or for space to lift weights or do core work. There are less obnoxious bros on a Friday night because the people who are there, are much more motivated.
