  • I also have bad knees: Left ACL repaired, Right one not repaired and is giving me pain! Had a traumatic ski accident that started my knee troubles. I am swimming for exercise at a local pool for $2 a day. It is wonderful! No joint pain while I am working out. Every other day I hit the gym, the elliptical trainer is good…
  • Feel free to "friend" me. The accountability really makes a difference. Quite an eye opener when you look at all the calories we consume and burn.
  • Depression hurts A LOT! Glad to hear that you are seeking help. As far as reducing the meds you are on, consider that maybe they are helping keep you afloat during this very challenging time. I take some meds for depression, and tried messing with them, discontinuing one of the little pills, but felt like crap! Having to…
  • I would consider your options very carefully. I did the lap band, not covered by insurance. It was costly $$$$! Initially I lost some weight, but had difficulty keeping some food down, which was gross and upsetting. A few adjustments helped, but you have to be very patient. Eventually I gained back the weight I lost, just…
  • Feeling pretty old, all the 40 somethings out there. I am 52, and seems like it is indeed more difficult than when I was younger. You know the saying, " Youth is wasted on the young," rings pretty true! I've been on some meds that could have made some weight gain, but just improper eating and getting burned out on…

  • I live in Scottsdale... I think the indoor climbing place is called On the Rocks, it's over by the ice den. I too find summer workouts challenging, but working out in the pool seems to be such a release for me, and I can't wait to get back into the water before it becomes a tepid bathtub. I had some surgery and am slowly…
  • I love some of the same things too: sleeping, knitting, swimming and gardening. Not a teacher, I am a RN. But, welcome back. Great site. Feel free to add me as a friend.
  • I too called just today to cancel my WW membership. LOL. I love MFP and how cheery the ticker is at the end of the day. "If you ate like this every day you'd weigh x." Looking forward to losing the weight for good.
  • I am 52 and have 70 pounds to lose. Would love to have you as a buddy!
  • I happen to have been in your position. I lost all my excess weight once upon a time.... I decided to go for an augmentation. It's a big plus if you can stay lean so that you don't wind up gaining weight again, as a yo yo dieter can. I kind of gained weight gain after some difficult years with my children growing up. Now I…
  • For me it is exercise! Like someone said, putting yourself first is harder than you think.
  • I am happy to say this site rocks! Glad you are here.
  • I had a lap band and had it taken out. It doesn't guarantee success and I had some problems. I think you're doing great if you exercise and stick to your calories. Don't give up on doing it naturally, the band didn't help me that much, unfortunately.
  • I weigh myself daily in the morning. I record my weight weekly on myfitnesspal, and so long as the number is going down I am happy. Just starting out, but using the site has been a blessing. I discovered that I was only eating about 900 calories a day, so I am seeing a slow weight loss now that I have bumped up my calories…
  • I am a total newbie. I have a set goal, 1200 calories, which I am finding it hard enough to eat in a healthy manner. Now I need to worry about net calories? Do I have to eat back what I exercised? Not sure I understand. Help! I just want to eat healthy and lose weight.
