That is not a bad number at all. I am a Type 1 (diagnosed in 1994 at age of 22) and can tell you that exercising will help. In fact, my blood sugars dropped, as one of the other folks said, like a stone, when I began exercising. This is a good thing. Just keep a close watch on your blood sugars before and after your…

Seriously? :noway: Why do people keep spreading this crap around. Based on this, I should be dead or in a wheelchair and my kids should be deformed and disabled. I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic in 1994, been on insulin ever since. Doc told me to switch to diet sodas, which I did. I also use Equal in my coffee.…

I lost about 25 pounds and have now gotten to where I am losing really slowly. My doc said low blood sugars can cause weight gain or trouble losing. I have had lows when I wake up so I am still adjusting my overnight basals. So hard trying to lose weight and even harder being an insulin dependent diabetic, in my opinion.…

Please know he is only talking about Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is NOT reversible, no matter how healthy you get. I should know. I am a Type 1, have been for 19 years. I have gotten my weight down and exercised but NEVER came off of insulin. I never will, unless I get a new pancreas. Type 2's are different from Type…

struggle with wanting to give up (at least every other day) I am an all or nothing gal, which makes it hard when I mess up. Worrying about gaining the weight back is a constant struggle. I have lost 25 lbs so far (13 on MFP) and I ALWAYS gain it back. I am determined not to do that this time. I hear the voice in the back…

I just sent you a request too

Not sure what type of diabetic you are. If you are a Type II, then losing weight will help and could put your diabetes where it is controlled solely with diet. If you are a Type I, then no amount of weight loss will get rid of it. I am a Type 1, diagnosed at age 22. (I am 40 now). I got myself down to a healthy weight and…

I am 5'5" tall. I weigh 180 now, aiming for 140 or maybe 135 goal weight. I am also 40 years old. I was once 135 in my 20's and I looked anorexic, so I think 140 is more realistic. I think it depends on your frame. I am large framed, but petite.

WOW! Thank you for sharing your story! Very inspiring :drinker:

5 kids, wow! How do you have time to do anything? I am on here daily logging and checking in, so feel free to add me. I love pet names and women who speak their mind. (I have been shy for years and finally coming out of my shell at age 40) I have 2 sons, age 17 and almost 12. I am also a Type 1 diabetic,…

I say just do it. You have to start somewhere. Start slow if you need to. I jumped in at the end of February by joining Curves. I needed the short, but structured workout to fit my schedule. I don't exercise well on my own and the women at Curves are great. I have lost 25 lbs since Feb, not much but slow and steady wins…

I almost posted this exact same thread this morning  I have lost 25 pounds so far (12 since joining MFP) and no one at work, other than those who know I am dieting/exercising, have said a word.....until today. Finally had someone ask me if I had lost weight. Feel like I have been trying hard to get folks to…

I have lost about 25 so far (15 prior to joining mfp) and I have trouble seeing myself as smaller. I still look at plus size clothes and then remember that is not my size anymore. I have fought the weight battle my whole life, even became an anorexic in high school and even then did not see myself as thin. I was teased as…
