I sometimes find myself with a bunch of extra calories by the end of the day, and since my goal is around 1200, I need to make sure I eat all of my available calories so I don't go into "starvation mode." I typically fix myself a dessert treat, as a reward for making through the whole day with low calories. Luckily, my…

You can do it! I am a college grad student, and it is definitely tough sometimes to stick to eating healthy with how busy school gets sometimes. But it is possible! My goal weight loss is about 15 pounds, and I'm about halfway there. MFP has been extremely helpful in sticking to a diet. Good luck! Feel free to friend me :)

Absolutely agree!! I used to hate running until I got professionally fitted for shoes. Turns out I pronate my feet a ton and it was causing me significant joint pain. The shoes fixed the problem and now running is so nice!!

I have a bit of an oral fixation when it comes to food - I like to eat just for the sake of eating. When I am really trying to stick to my calorie goals but am having trouble controlling my impulse to eat, I eat a large volume of low calorie foods. I particularly like bell peppers and cucumbers for this purpose. For me,…

Your body needs a basal level of calories each day just for being alive - breathing, digesting, etc. Most people quote that at 1,200 calories, so you would want a NET of 1,200 daily. Any extra calories you burn from exercise are just that - extra caloric needs that your body doesn't burn just by sitting there. So treat…

If you work out and burn 200 calories, you are allowed 200 EXTRA calories to eat that day because you would want to stay at 1390 calories. Another way to look at it is that you work out adds calories to what you are allowed daily; so 1390 +200 from working out = 1590 calories you are allowed a day, to be losing 1 pound per…

Eating at night is not necessarily bad for you! If you aren't having any problems sleeping or with reflux then feel free to enjoy some food before bed. Just make sure it still sticks with your calorie counts! :)

Keep it up! 3 lbs now may not seem like a lot, but every pound counts!! I have found that MFP has really helped with my motivation in general, especially reading messages on the boards. Good luck!! I will send you a friend request :)

Alli works by disrupting how your body absorbs fats. Basically, it keeps more fat in your stool and less absorbed into your system. That is why you get the side effects like flatulence, oily stools, and "leakage". I know that a lot of people can't tolerate the side effects so they stop using it. As for expense, it is…

I really like the packages of tuna that are pre-flavored but still pretty low calorie. My favorites are the sun dried tomato or the lemon pepper. Alternatively, you could season the canned tuna with some Mrs. Dash - essentially no calories, and salt-free! Those also come in a bunch of flavors - I really like the Carribean…

Welcome! I also love the Droid app - that is actually where I first found MFP! I have found it very helpful to track absolutely everything I eat and drink. It has really opened my eyes to how many calories are in the things I eat, and has helped me make better choices. Feel free to friend me if you would like some…

We talked about this in one of my pharmacy classes. Here is a website with some information that might be helpful, and explains some of the theories pretty well: http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/injuries/a/aa053100a.htm Try exhaling when your left foot hits the ground! I do agree with sapphiretyger though, that if this…

I am a big fan of whole wheat Ritz crackers with the Laughing Cow light cheese wedges (any flavor will do!). I also like apple slices with almond butter, or a low-fat string cheese with a pineapple cup. Oh, and I am now addicted to the No Pudge! brownies.....but that is a little bit more of a guilty pleasure! (not as…
