  • what gives me motivation changes from day to day. sometimes it's seeing a lower number on the scale. sometimes it's wanting to see the number on the scale drop. Sometimes its reminding myself that I've lost 6 inches from my waist so far - and only have another 1 to go before I'm out of the uber-unhealthy waist measurement…
  • If you promised to return them afterwards, would they let you wander into the "non-mommy" section - pick up the weights you need and take them into your bit of the gym?
  • I track all my activity on my fitbit so I may not be the right person to reply - but I'm pretty sure I've seen an entry for pilates in the exercise section here. ETA - yes - just checked it's in there.
  • I do a pilates class once a week. Been going for nearly a year now. I love it. I'm much more flexible, I've kissed goodbye my persistant back pain (I have the rare spasm now - but even then the pain goes away after a day or two - rather than after a month of very painful massages). Worth every penny and minute I've spent…
  • Great - thanks Haybales.
  • The way I do it is I log all my activity on my fitbit - if not step based. This gives me a total calorie burn for the day that syncs back to MFP - but the individual exercises don't sync back. If you want a record on here you need to log the activity on here. If you put the times in it'll write over the calorie burn fitbit…

  • I'd love to be comfortably doing up the buttons on the size 14 jeans I just ordered online and are a little too smug at the moment (hello muffin tops!). I don't really mind how many pounds that takes.
  • I'm a fitbit user too - I log it on fitbit as 30 mins of weight lifting - however long it takes me (never less tann 30 mins - anything upto an hour). I suspect fitbit over estimates the burn during exercise time - which is why i do this. But i know it'll underestimate the after burn - so I figure this has me covered. But…
  • Stress has differing effects on me - moderate stress has me eating, and eating, and eating some more. Seriously stressed out kills my appetite - I hope that isn't the same for you! Protein powder also fills me up. As in I could have 5/6 scoops mixed with water thoughout the day - and not want to eat at all. (I know this…
  • I'm not there yet - I'm no where near it - but I've been inspired by the ladies here that do look like this. So I've started to do what they do - I pick up something heavy - I put it down - I do this again and again. Then I add some more weight to the heavy things. And I love doing it. Don't get me wrong - it has a down…
  • I may be rather cynical - but hey sod it - I smell a sales person. If you've found the secret to miracle weightloss - share with us all - don't just PM those that are willing to pay for whatever snake oil you are selling.
  • I have a pair of broad shoulders - someone told me at about 13 years old I was built like an American football player (shoulder pads included). 13 year old me = :'(. But I like them now - they balance out the rest of my big bits :).
  • Modern jive and blues for me. I try out some new things from time to time - but it has to be partner dancing for me.

  • I love this idea - I'm going to be trying this from Monday. I have a weekend away to get through first :s
  • i'm that weight now - I started out a little higher. I dance (and can do this for hours on end), I lift weights, I swim, I walk, I do 30 Day Shred, I go to pilates. I "can't" run - cos I hate it and the desire to stop totally overwhelms any motivation I had to do it in the first place - but other than that I don't think…
  • When I first started going to my gym there was only me and one guy ever using the rack. Seems to have gotten busier lately - with other women. It probably is utterly unrelated - but I have decided to take it as I'm inspiring these women to try it out too. Although I do wish they would get out of there when I want…

  • Congratulations - they are two incredible victories :)
  • "Bada$$" - that one word is all I need - well that and feeling like one when I lift more than I'd have believed I could :)
  • I love my deadlifts. Today was Deadlift day for me - and i walked outta that gym like the badass I proved myself to be. Having said that - I'm doing Stronglifts - which means it was also OHP day. I hate that lift - I failed again (and I'm still on puny weights with that one). I say let me rejoice in my deadlifts - I'm…

  • I use protein powder sometimes. Not every day. But if I end up down on my protein macro I'll have a shake to bump it up. Only if I'm down though - most days I get the protein high enough from my food.
  • I go away for a long weekend about once a month - I say to hell with it. I don't log - but I do enter a ridiclously high number of estimated calories in my diary as a quick add for the day. I make sure I stick to my calorie limit (maybe go a little under) in the few days running up to it. As soon as I get back (usually a…
  • If you go on a regular schedule then you'll start to see the same faces over and over - just say hi to start off. I find most of the conversations I've had have been either in the changing rooms or in the jaccuzzi - but this may be because if I'm mid work out I'm not looking to start chatting away. I have the opposite…
  • Not strictly true - I've been offered cosmetic surgery by my GP - but I turned it down (he told me I could have an operation to remove my scar - but that it would leave me with a scar???) It's unlikely that you would get your boob job or rhinoplasty on the NHS - but it's not unheard of.
  • obviously the calculators are all estimates - but if you don't trust them the only way you can do this is work it out for your body. if you've been logging your calorie intake accurately you can use this and your weightloss to work out what your maintence number will be. you could reduce your intake back down for a bit for…
  • before any one can guess at how many calories you might need to eat they are going to need a lot more information. how old are you? what is your weight and height? you say you want to remain the same size - do you mean size or do you mean weight? If you are happy to gain muscle and weight then you will need to eat more…
  • I punched your numbers into scooby for you (I'm horrible to myself and now know how much more food I could have if i was male and a little taller :( ) I get 2396 cals for 15% deficit, 2255 for a 20% one (based on moderate exercise). That's a big difference to what you came up with, and more similar to what you say has been…
  • That must have been hard to see - but try and look at it this way - your doctor is sympathetic and trying to help you find the right medication. Hopefully that will sort out the weight gain issue. Also you could have gained that by going on the medication without losing the weight first - then you'd be way heavier now than…
  • It took three rest days from the weights after my first weighted squat session. When I was able to sit down again I went back and did some more. However that was 3 days off from the weights - I kept myself moving - I made sure I hit 10000 steps a day (even though I wasn't exactly moving very quickly), and on day 2 and 3 I…
