  • Both. I weigh myself more regularly. And often only think to measure if the number in the scale isn't dropping. However - I don't have a set goal weight, but I do have a goal waist measurement.
  • Thanks guys :)
  • In to save for later - I'm gonna keep coming back here to remind myself how bulky I want to be :)
  • How has this not be made a sticky? Best thing on MFP by far!
  • Here for the protein ideas - my favourites are beef and duck. But sadly I don't always have the calories to feed up on them :( which means I usually turn to chicken.
  • Have you spoken to your doctor about your exercise plans? What have they suggested? I don't know what impact your heart condition would have on you exercising - but as it's obviously something that concerns you I would speak to a medical professional for advise.
  • No. 3 months - so 12 weeks - at 2lb a week (maximum recommended for health weightloss) that's 24lbs. And that's assuming that you stick to your goal deficit everyday in that 3 month period. I'm female, older, over a foot shorter and eat a lot more than you are planning to. I'm losing weight just fine. Please read the sexy…
  • 2lb a week is fantastic work!! It all adds up! You know how much you are losing - you're measuring your weight to find out, other people don't see the numbers on the scale shifting down. Your body will catch up, and the loss will become more obvious to others over time. Don't allow a slower loss to get you down. A…
  • In my head - weight loss is 100% diet. I do the exercise stuff the way I do for the health benefits. That includes my mental health - sticking to the calorie limit I have if sedentary would drive me completely insane!!
  • Just wanted to say "yes" - lifting is my new favourite thing in the world! ETA: stupid autocorrect mistake!
  • I've been doing a mat class since the end of last year. I've seen great improvements to my back / shoulders - which caused a lot of problems before. My flexibility is much better. And I've just discovered how good it is for helping with Doms from lifting. I've got some great benefits from doing it - but they aren't…

  • I was having a lot of back / shoulder pain - had been getting it on and off for years - and at times it lingered aroud for weeks. End of last year I started doing a pilates class a week. It's made a massive difference for me. I've only had one bout of pain in that time - and it cleared up after a couple of days (and a…
  • I feel your pain - I'm struggling to hit my protein goal too. I've just added protein powder to my diet - half a scoop in each of my morning coffees is working for me at the moment. I also have a protein shake after a lifting work out. These are helping considerably! I've also taken to buying precooked chicken and snacking…
  • SW - 15st 5 (215lb) / 41in waist CW - 14st 3 (199lb) / 37in waist GW - ???? / 27in waist I've given up on the idea of a goal weight - I have no idea what to set it as. So I've decided to go with the waist meaurement for a size 10 (UK) as my goal instead. I'm pretty sure that when I get there I'm not going to care what…
  • I wouldn't worry about it - I gained 7 pounds on my week long holiday. Got back on plan on Thursday - and I've already lost almost all of it (just half a pound away from my pre-holiday weight already). Seen some pretty dramatic weight drops on the scale in the last few days - so I know it was just water I'd put on. I wish…
  • This makes sense. I suspect I'm over doing it on the squats - which isn't helping!! I'm booked in for a second training session this week. The plan is learn how to do a few more lifts safely so I can mix things up a bit. Hopefully that will help. In meantime I'll cling to the idea that in a few months I'll miss the pain :)
  • I think it's DOMS - just a pretty severe form - or maybe I have a low pain threshold!! It doesn't feel like pulled muscles / injury. More intense stiffness that makes it painful to move again!! It does impact on my lifting - but only in so far as my squat form suffers because I'm still sore. It doesn't stop me altogether!…
  • I eat at my BMR - actually just under - but that is net not total. And no I'm not hungry. But then my BMR is high, cos I'm a heifer! It just means I can't eat all of the treats I would like to.
  • This. So many times this. I swim. I've have done for years (on and off). The only thing that has ever stopped me was my motivation - not TOM. I get to the pool. I use the toilets - insert heavy flow tampon. I'm good to go. Never leaked. Not once. I do get that some women get heavier / more complicated periods than me - I…
  • Lol - Quite possibly the best post ever :)
  • Bought 2 bags of popcorn on my way home for dinner tonight. Logged them first - and realised I didn't have the calories left :( Only devoured one bag. Then stopped. That was hard work!! It still took me a little over goal - but it didn't wipe out my deficit. (On the plus side - I have a bag of popcorn sat waiting for me…
  • Some of the asda bras aren't bad - cheap and the balcony ones are pretty supportive (supportive enough for every day use - I wouldn't go running with one on!)
  • Not even slightly qualified to make suggestions - purely based on what I remember from being a kid. Change things up regularly Make it fun - if they are playing then it's not that horrible exercise stuff. e.g. Team games, dancing etc. keep an eye on current TV trends - if dance shows are the flavour of the month do that,…
  • Not sure it increase the desire (for me) to go there. However, if I feel better about my body, I'm more confident, and less worried about being seen naked. So no change in libido - massive increase in inhibitions! Eta: stupid error!
  • Eta: Oops - tried to quote, but failed!
  • I just made flapjacks - for a charity bake sale. All of the calories went into the whole flapjacks, didn't they? There can't possibly be any in the 2 broken ones I ate, can there? (I tried to resist, I really did, but they smelt so good!) Well, if I don't log them they aren't real, right? :)
  • I hate this one. I get sucked into clicking on the threads over and over. Then I see the long paragraph of gibberish with no punctuation and my heart sinks :( Might start replying to the ones with really good titles - just to amuse myself.
  • Some mornings I'm hungry - and I'll eat breakfast when I get to work - other days I'll skip it and eat at lunchtime. Lunch depends on when it fits in at work. Dinner is usually late. My evenings are busy - so I often don't eat until near midnight. The last one used to bother me - and I put it down to part of the reason I…
  • I'm very new to this - I'm heading out for my 3rd lifting session in a few hours. All I can say at the moment is that I love it so far. I feel good when I finish the session - the endorpin hit is pretty incredible. The DOMS after the first session wasn't so great - but the soreness after the second session was nowhere near…
  • This was me at the weekend - I've been good - I had a few calories in the bag - and I decided I was going to eat pizza to use them up. Until I got to the supermarket. And I read the nutritional values. I decided that while I like pizza I don't like it enought to take the hit. I might make a different decision another day -…
