  • I'd like to say thanks to all those brave men and women too. My dad was career army, so I'm fortunate enough to know many wonderful veterans. Thank you all for the sacrifices you and your families make every day.:flowerforyou:
  • Hopefully you'll get some answers soon. Beta blockers are frequently prescribed to people with high blood pressure. So I'm sure there are some people around here who've experienced them. My mom was on them for a while till they switched her to calcium blockers instead. I do know that she often feels tired/sleepy now, and…
  • Sometimes along this journey to change ourselves our bodies and our minds don't quite line up. Sometimes your mind is racing ahead and ready for your body to "be there already". And sometimes your mind is stuck where your body used to be. It's always disconcerting when you realize this disconnect. The feelings you have at…
  • There are so many delicious apples. Which I like best really depends on my mood. My top choices are: Fuji, Braeburn, Gala, Cameo, and Honey Crisp. We used to get a really lovely variety called Crispin that were my absolute favorites, but I haven't seen them in several years now. My favorites all tend to have thin skins,…
  • Your result will be quite different using regular whole wheat flour versus the whole wheat pastry flour. The pastry flour is a much finer grind. It's also usually made out of a different variety of wheat with a lower gluten content. That means it has less protein. It also means that it doesn't form the bonds that are so…
  • Hello. I'm Teresa, currently 39 years old, and female. I blame my geekiness on my dad who gave me an Atari 2600 when I was in 4th grade.... It's been a long and nerdy road since then. My current biggest time waster is WoW. I love MMORPGs. Got started on the genre when a friend introduced me to EQ shortly after Luclin was…
  • I've been to all of the expansion releases for WoW. They had a big party and brought in several of the devs for the WotLK release here in Austin. There was a dance competition and a few other fun things happening. To me the most entertaining part was standing in line for 3 hours talking with other random geeks. It's…
  • I've been playing since the January after the initial release. Got it as a Christmas present from a friend because he wanted someone to play with. Lol. We're both still avid players, as are several other of my RL friends. My main is a Human Warlock on Suramar. I also have a NE priest, Dranei Shaman, Dwarf Paladin, and…

  • If you're looking for prepared deli meats, I like DaBecca brand best. The ingredients are all real foods and there are no preservatives. Of course it's still pretty high in sodium. The herb roasted turkey breast is quite tasty, and the roast beef is amazing. You can actually taste the spices they use.
  • Pretty much anything that involves jumping on or over something. I really hate trying to move while having both feet off the ground. I don't have good depth-perception and always feel like I'm going to fall when jumping. (Don't mind jumping jacks and things like that where you're pretty much stationary, just jumping.)
  • Yep, it generally means a vegetable shortening, like Crisco. Though generically the term can just be used to mean a solid fat. So in old recipes you could see lard or butter referred to as "shortening" also.
  • One of the reasons I love working out during my lunch break is that nearly everyone at the gym is there to work on bettering themselves and just get it done. There's a very low gym rat population at that time of day. It's usually other people in for a quick lunch workout, moms with young kids, and retirees. I hate going…
  • Thanks so much for sharing your inspirational story and pictures. You look amazing now, so healthy and happy.
  • As long as you're basically healthy, it's really a lot more about number of calories than of what those calories consist. Protein will not make you gain weight in and of itself. All of the discussion about how much protein/carbs/fat has much more to do with fitness (muscle maintenance/growth) and athletic performance than…
  • Congratulations on your amazing success so far. And thank you very much for sharing your inspirational story with us. I definitely agree that you have to get what's going on in your head straightened out before you can expect to get control of what's going on with your body. The mental battle takes at least as much blood,…
  • Congratulations! You have done amazingly well and are so much healthier now. I can only imagine how fantastic you must feel to have gotten rid of 4 medications. Truly a phenomenal success. Thank you so much for sharing your story and photos.
  • Way to go everyone! It's been a fun time getting to know you all. And thanks so much for being our captain. :flowerforyou:
  • I don't do alcohol myself. But the weather's finally cold enough to make some very tasty hot chocolate. And there will be Rumplemintz available for my roommates who enjoy that sort of thing. :drinker:
  • Great post. I loved playing a Barbarian in EQ. I wouldn't mind being one in real life either; they are strong and beautiful. Unfortunately for me I got more of a Dwarf figure... which would be perfectly fine if only I had the awesome cleavage to go with it. But I'm coming to terms with the fact that I can only be…
  • In your situation I would definitely choose lightly active. Mine's set at sedentary because I'm stuck behind a desk for 8 or more hours each day. I got a Bodybugg just a couple of weeks ago and was surprised that my biggest burn day so far was on a day that I didn't do any deliberate exercise. I was getting ready for a…
  • It really, really depends on body type. When I was in college and weighed 155, which is just into overweight for my height of 5'5" my thighs did not touch at all. It's just not where I carry extra fat. I'm at 165 now and my thighs touch slightly, but I think that's more due to a bit of lose skin from losing 80 pounds than…
  • Well, I grew up listening to country music, so... "Love isn't Free" by Dolly Parton "Down in the Ghetto" either Dolly or Elvis version I also tear up to: "Brick" by Ben Folds Five
  • I've never heard of those; will definitely have to watch this when I get home tonight. Great job so far everyone.
  • It's not super common, but it does happen. Statistically the later you reached menarche, the earlier you will hit menopause. (That's never seemed fair, lol.) How old were you when you started? Also, perimenopause can be brought on by trauma. I had a friend who was completely done with menopause before she hit 40. She was…
  • Out of curiosity I had to go looking for some of these recipes. Found this: http://theskinnyjeansproject.blogspot.com/2010/06/hot-celery-mess.html She actually tries making some of them....
  • I always had a low dosage and had to do about a month long taper off if I'm remembering correctly. In the end it was worse than not taking anything. It gave me terrible insomnia; I couldn't sleep for more than two hours at a stretch no matter how tired I was. And if I'd known then what I know now I never would have taken…
  • Well, the good, and bad, news is that they all look good on you. That means you have to decide what you like. I think your natural color sets off your eyes best. The dark brown goes great with your skin tone; you really have a healthy glow in that picture. But the purpleish is fun and different.
  • Thanks for sharing the link! These are awesomely awful.
  • It's quite possible that the Bodybugg is correct. That's all calories burned throughout the day including exercise. You say MFP gives you 2000 plus exercise. How much exercise do you average? It would need to be near 1000 to make them add up the same. But it also depends on how you are calculating your exercise calories.…
  • My great grandfather (Mom's mom's dad) was named Pink Eugene (as first and middle names). One of my best friends became an uncle last year. His little brother named his son Zim.... yep, like the video game. And they worked it so that his initials are also ZIM. In college I had a fencing instructor named Vincent, but we all…
