  • I do a later updated version by the Hellers, reflecting further research that they did (and I love that in the book I have, they list the various papers and studies referred to so you can go read them yourself). It's called CALP (carobhydrate addicts lifespan program)for short. Am I having success? I'm coming up on 153…
  • 1-5th street grill Italian turkey sausage, 1 thin slice swiss cheese, 1 oz. half and half with my decaf coffee, 1 slice roma tomato, 3 spears fresh asparagus.
  • I eat everything..but per the eating plan I chose so no, I don't have toast in the morning, if I have it, it's for dessert. What I did change is I have just a couple of "can't easily stop" foods, so I have them once a year - i.e. potato chips. I have them once a year in a single serve bag :) I've lost 65 lbs. since coming…
  • Agree with this post. This is why my "weight" is done by average - I weigh daily and take an average of 7 days to get what I consider my true weight. I frequently swing up and down by 1-3 lbs. Just keep on keeping on with your plan, and don't sweat it unless it's a consistent trend up for several days.
  • My best recommendation because we really need to know more - do they eat seafood, pork, poultry, prefer beef? Go to pinterest. com and do a search for recipes - many low carb, lower calorie (or no restrictions) recipes there. It's not just photos! You will see the dish and be able to click through to the site with the…
  • I eat them often - though my favorite are the Miracle Noodles rice. I rinse them super well, drain, heat in water, and have no problem with any odor after that. I would say 1-2x a week I use these. I'm losing nicely while using these as a substitute for rice.
  • 2.5 oz. raw weight ground turkey breast, baked. 1/2 cup boiled fresh zucchini. 1/4 tsp. of no-salt butter that I used to "pan toast" my Cinnamon Toast oopsie roll. 1 oz. half and half with my decaf.
  • I see you've gotten lots of responses, and honestly, haven't read them. You have to find a way of eating that works for you, that you can live with, and eventually move into maintenance. I'm just going to share what is working for me. I did lose quite a bit doing lower carb (no carb counting, followed a program called…
  • I've lost over 145 lbs. to date (61ish since I joined MFP last May). Just want to encourage you as you start this journey. My motto has been that I will only fail if I quit, and I refuse to quit. Find a way of eating that works for you and that you can adapt for maintenance once you've lost all the weight you want to lose.…
  • 1 egg cooked in 1 tsp. no salt butter. 1/2 cup plain boiled zucchini. 1 aged parmesan cheese crisp (just cheese). 1 oz. half and half in my decaf coffee.
  • Congratulations, what an awesome story! My goal is to be a normal weight by the time I'm 60 (1-1/2 years away). I began this to deal with my knee pain, and (my choice) avoid knee replacement surgeries. I've ditched my cane, my nsaid and my pain so far..and am very happy with how my weight loss is going (far more than my…
  • Use riced cauliflower instead of rice
  • I follow a plan few talk about anymore - carbohydrateaddicts lifespan program. I'm approaching my 3rd anniversary of getting extremely serious about losing my excess weight and have to date lost over 146 lbs. It's not a low carb approach - more of a balanced carb approach, and I've used calorie counting to get a grasp of…
  • Congratulations, quite a marvelous achievement!
  • Ditto the above. I simply eat single serve containers - my portion control is there and I get "all of it"...which seems to be something my personality likes..lol.
  • I love mine but one word of caution. It says it is waterproof, and I sure got the impression it was for 24/7 wearing (tracks sleep etc.). But if you have sensitive skin or aren't thinking, as I was not, you may develop a nice, nasty skin infection wearing it that way. From now on, it comes off before my shower or washing…

  • Congratulations, that is awesome!
  • Thank you for sharing your story, and congratulations. I am truly happy for you!
  • Not sure what is low cal to you, but for me I'm happy with fresh blueberries or raspberries (1/2 cup up to 1 cup) either with unsweetened homemade whipped cream with vanilla (just a couple tablespoons) or 1/2 of a live culture fruit yogurt (like brown cow or full fat dannon oikos).
  • BeachIron, my only comment in this thread so far, was about folks who aren't debating. They are simply being intolerant, unhelpful, and under the guise of "blunt", rude. I don't know you, but am surprised that on what I thought was a closed group discussion, you've taken such a shot at women working in the way they choose,…
  • The recent thread where they all congratulated each other for their "honesty" and discussed how it isn't supportive to just be accepting of someone finding their way. Nooooooooooooo..they need to be "honest" and "blunt". I can be honest and blunt..you folks are rude, cruel jerks who don't know half what you think you do.…
  • Love that video..and it works so very well. It gives you the texture you need for great stir-fried 'rice' and if you do it really fine, for cheesy garlic "breadsticks" or "pizza" crust :)
  • My first advice would be to find a lower carb eating plan that you like and can stick to. There are some very different approaches to this! That said, I eat quite a variety of things for breakfast (I only eat eggs 2-3 times per week). This morning I had homemade bone broth with 1/2 cup of spinach, my coffee with some half…
  • 1 egg cooked in 1 tsp. pastured butter, with 1 slice reduced fat cheddar cheese, 1 sauteed small poblano pepper (homegrown..the best!) Decaf espresso, 2 oz. half and half.
  • I split them in half, bake, then eat with a wee bit of butter and cinnamon :)
  • Hi, this is my first group to join here on MFP. I am happy to find a group where eating lower carb is accepted :) Real Name: Pat Height: 5'4" (used to be 5' 6" so may have to adjust my gw) HW: 368 CW: 264+ this am (I average 7 days of weights to get current, my average day is Monday) GW: 150 at this time, we'll see when I…

  • Yes, I weigh every day because I list my weight as what the average of the past 7 days is. It's what was recommended by the authors of the way of eating that I follow, and it has really helped me for those weeks when it shows me I did have a loss - albeit sometimes as small as 1/4 of a lb. I'm used to seeing the up and…
