I'll second the congee suggestion, it's really good!

As I was completely sedentary a little over a month ago, I've been building up my activity level slowly. I think my cardio is now good enough I plan on starting strength training in a week.
-
If it makes you feel better, you can come run circles around me while I go on my daily walk :)

While you can sometimes see progress within a week, you need to do something for at least a month in order to judge its effectiveness.

Unless you're working toward a particular goal, I wouldn't even worry about carbs/fat/protein. Just eat a healthy balanced diet at your calorie goal and you'll be fine.

How do your coworkers feel about the plant strong Engine 2 Diet? Maybe you can get them to do the 28-Day Challenge with you! Edit: Haha, volley beat me to it!

I second the Uncle Sam's cereal recommendation; it'll keep you regular! Nuts are actually a decent source of fiber, too.
-
How close did you eat to bedtime? I've started getting heartburn if I eat too late in the day. I find whole-grain cereal with almond milk to be soothing.

Looks like we're in a similar situation, you are just further along than we are. My other half is going to get to goal before me, and I will take a *long* time to get to mine. For me, there's a bit of a disconnect, because once I started making changes, I immediately *felt* so much better, but I know I'll probably have to…

I would like more info on this topic as well, as I'm considering getting some soon.

Down a pants size!

Finally getting around to reading Moorcock's first Elric book. Also David Farland's first Runelords book.

As a vegan, I could care less what other people eat. I'm vegan for my health and for the environment. I don't miss meat, was never very fond of it. Not sure what you mean by meat-flavored. Not all veggie burgers are vegan, but none of them have meat products. Fruits and veggies are vegan. Nuts are vegan. Rice and beans are…

I've struggled with chronic mild depression all my life. And sometimes it just manifests as apathy, rather than sadness. Exercising regularly really helps me, but it sounds like you are already doing that. I agree with both of violett's comments. Try to find something new to do that you enjoy and find interesting. And your…

!! They have a spicy PB now? Must acquire!

Buffet restaurants. Oh I suppose I'd manage if I had to go to one as part of a social event, but not otherwise.

The sugar tracker here on mfp isn't very helpful, as it does not distinguish between natural and processed sugars. If you eat the recommended number of servings of fruit everyday, you will go over every time. I've disabled that tracker and substituted a different one in its place.

I pretty much have three food categories. 1. Stuff I keep on hand most of the time, which is the largest category by far. I have a container of cookies right next to my desk that are probably too stale to eat at this point. 2. Food I only eat at parties or when I buy a single-serving package. Examples would be chips and…

Good topic! I've already had my walk, will do some stretches in a bit, feeling a little stiff.

One trick I have is that if I'm feeling shame over a particular food choice (I shouldn't, but I do sometimes) is that I'll just quick-add the calories, rather than list it specifically.

I think because it's about being healthier, it's me focusing on what I want to add to my life, rather than subtract. I'm making small changes that I can live with the rest of my life. I still eat fast food that fits within my calorie goals. I don't have some crazy workout routine, I just walk everyday. I love dancing, so…

I think that when I start wondering what other people think, it's just my excuse to engage in some negative self-talk. Just remember that we are all kinder to other people than we are to ourselves. Be kind to yourself too.

Refrigerator Oatmeal can be made the night before and will be ready to eat in the morning. You can even put it in mason jars so you can take it with you to eat throughout the morning. http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal

when I have to go to the grocery store because we're out of fruits and veggies!

This question interests me. I'm obese and plan on starting yoga soon. There are a decent selection of books and DVDs out there for heavier people, but they all seem to be geared toward beginners.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm always looking to eat more veggies! In addition to regular salads made with leafy greens, I will also make salads from shredded cabbage or broccoli with a low-cal dressing.

Rather than using it to make burgers, I use TVP to make sloppy joes. Very quick and easy!
-
I'm interested in trying them too. I'd need a US code.

I have my diary open to friends. Like others have said, I like sharing meal ideas. I've never had anyone critique it so far. On the rare occasion I'm a little embarrassed about something I've eaten, well that's what quick added calories are for! :)

Haha yeah, I miss saag paneer!
