I'm pretty bad at returning emails and texts, not saying that it's okay to not reply when you need a reply but I'm just really bad at it. As such, I would recommend that if you need a reply you make sure to say "I need a reply by XXXX". If I get an email with a firm reply time I make sure I reply. If they're just FYI…

When you're making your meals, use full fat or regular ingredients instead of light or diet ones. Drink whole milk vs skim, butter vs pam, etc. Nuts are good to get your calories up. Use cheese and dressing on your salads. Try new foods to make it more interesting, curries, bibimba, etc.

I found the same thing when I was working out. You think you'll be hungrier but I wasn't as hungry. Listen to your body!

I second this. The first place I notice is my face...I start to get cheekbones,

I'd say start with walking. Then tell yourself you're going to jog from one street light to the next. Give yourself as much walking as you need to recover, then do it again. Start with a 10 minute walk/jog. Then build up time and distance. You can do it!

Freshly cut wood. I used to live near a place that was always cutting wood, and I would just walk by and take big breaths.

Just watched this panel from Nerd HQ with Matt, Jenna, and the Moff (or Stephanfat). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXausp-UdL8

I'm 5'5" and was told by a nurse that with my muscle mass (at the time) 180lbs would be fine for me. At my smallest as an adult I was around 190 and a size 12-14 and I felt pretty good. So, I'm aiming for 180ish right now, and we'll see how I feel when I get there.

I'm an assistant English teacher in Japan, so the songs I hate are children's songs. Especially "I am a music man". Damn that song to the deepest abyss of hell. It gets stuck in my head for weeks. I wake up singing it, I sing it on my bike to work. ARGGG!

And with the App, even if you don't have time to put every individual thing in, you can but a quick calories entry for a good guess (I always round up) and then you've at least got an idea of how much you have left.

I'm in the I don't really care except for the back and shoulders group. I'll always remember the episode of "Herman's Head" where they go to a staff retreat at a nudist resort, and Hettie looks around and says, "Why does that guy get to wear a sweater" and someone else replies "that's not a sweater".

I'm usually a purist; cheese and bread + (butter or marg) but I think if you want to try other stuff, that's okay. I'll even admit I have done a few different ones: 1) with garlic butter, instead of regular thinking it would be the most awesome garlic bread with cheese, but it wasn't as amazing as I'd hoped. 2) pizza…

Are you talking 50/60 or 500/600? If it's the first, don't worry. If it's the second and you're eating at least 1300-1500, you're probably still okay. If you're eating under 1300, you should probably start finding ways to add calories to your existing diet. For example, drinking 2% milk rather than skim, using full fat…

I'm in the "almost daily" group. Today, I picked up my alarm clock to check what time it was, and dropped it on my face. All I could think was, what story can I make up to make my future black eye seem cooler.

I used to use enggrrl through university (I was in Engineering, and a girl) but over time I've gotten out of the habit. My name's Michelle and until university really didn't get nicknamed, but a friend there started calling me Meesh, and I've just started using that more often than enggrrl. And I'm lazy, so I tend not to…

I'm so sorry. That has got to be super difficult. All I can suggest is if he's there, find reasons to not be. Go out for walks, spend time with friends, go see a movie, go to the libary and read a book, etc. Be strong, we know you can if you've lost 20 lbs. And if you ever need to rant, you know the place!

Those school portions are a killer, aren't they? Since I started to watch my calorie intake, I try to half whatever rice and main dish they give me to make sure I'm not over eating. I also love that packages usually have the calorie count for the whole thing, not just a serving. Especially when its a snack type food.

Me, me, me, meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! *hand waving wildly in the air* I love Eureka and I'm so sad it's over. The show was so well written and hilarious. I liked the changes from the time travel and how they had to re-set themselves to their new lives. My two favourite things were that Fargo was the voice for the house and…

If you're finding this happens every month, there could be another explanation for it. I know that when TOM is here, my weight goes up a bit with water retention. Generally weight that you gain quickly is usually easy to get off (up one week, down the next). Try tracking the weight gains with your cycle and see if that's…

Thanks! It's good to know that others have done it too. Sometimes finding the nutritional value or even the size of a portion or container is so difficult. What did you do when the packaging didn't say how much was in the container or a portion size/calorie count?
-
I totally agree. It's the whole "do as I say, not as I do" thing. As for the eating a fridge full...maybe you need to get a smaller fridge ;) I completely understand! I'm pretty new here too, but I'm sure I'll be using this place alot too.

Whether you're a fan of Prince Charles or not, this is a cool video of his and the Duchess of Cornwall's visit to the Doctor who set in celebration of the 50th anniversary. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01c8v3w On a related note, while I do like Matt Smith's doctor, I never thought that he was especially attractive. But…

When I was watching my weight a few years ago (and had a bigger freezer) I would make frozen fruit salad. I'd put pineapple chunks, tangerine wedges, watermelon pieces, and banana slices out flat on a cookie sheet to freeze it without it sticking together. Then, once it was frozen, I'd put it all together in a big bowl…

Kind of a low, kind of a high...I was feeling a little depressed today. Living in a foreign country means that some of your comfort foods are hard to come by. Ended up managing to fit the hot dogs (yes that's plural) I was craving in my calories for the day. They were more like cocktail weenies, but with three or four per…

Hi! My name's Michelle and I'd say my superpowers are making almost anything sound like an innuendo (or at least making you think it sounded dirty) and controlling the weather. However with the second it's pretty much limited to making it windy if I'm wearing a skirt.

Born and raised in Southern Ontario (Hamilton, Markham, Midland) but I'm currently living in Kasukabe, Saitama, Japan. It's just a little north of Tokyo, about 1 hr by train.

I'm new to the group too, my random facts: I've bungee jumped 2 times I've done 2 sprint triathlons (700m swim, 20k bike, 5 k run) I sometimes snort when I laugh

Hello, My name's Michelle and I'm 36. I've been a big girl almost all of my adult life. The last couple of years I've not bothered to worry about it because my level of activity went up and I was losing a bit of weight (about a size a year) but now that I'm closer to 40 than I am 30 I'm feeling like I should get myself in…
