  • I used to do that but no lie, I get kind of dizzy doing all those laps. I recently got a cheap stationary exercise bike on amazon instead - it was like $130 I think, free shipping, and it folds up to go out of the way. It's easier and more fun than laps for me, because I can catch up on TV while I do it :)
  • I'm glad its better! That happens to me intermittently when i'm not focusing on flexibility. I almost have to be doing something like yoga regularly (30 minutes of dedicated flexibility training) or my back spasms out like that, so something like that might be good, if you aren't doing it already. After the first time it…
  • Cajun seasoning. It makes everything taste better!
  • That is awesome, good for you! I would never have gone to the class at all when I was heavier, so you are my new hero! I will try to take your advice and forget about other people. They probably really don't care anyway. I have never judged another person in the gym for their fitness level, so probably other people aren't…
  • it actually does but I thought those might be harder so I'm a little intimated...I'll consider that next week though, thank you!
  • I read, I think in Shape maybe, that women start to lose muscle mass in 7 days without a working. What I took from that is that the goal is to get the same muscle more than once in 7 days. But it turns out I know a lot less about fitness than I thought I did so I could be wrong.
  • I feel the same way, but I realized recently talking to my sister, it's shocking how far I've come in 3 years since I joined MFP. I eat so much better, and I really think I'm much healthier. I think I've lost something like 10 pounds in all those years, but I don't get headaches every day at 3pm anymore, I don't have any…
  • I think it depends on a lot of factors...that's a huge number of calories to play with though, it might be worth going to see a doctor. I'm guessing with trying to lose 2+ pounds per week, he's pretty significantly overweight, in which case I'm not sure the same "starvation" rules (for whatever they are worth) apply.…
  • Thank you so much for the responses! I actually feel much better, and this is really helpful advice. I'll stick with it then, maybe up my protein and calories a little to make recovery easier, and keep it really light on the off days. Seriously, THANK YOU!
  • I have the same problem. It helps to use a treadmill where you can monitor your pace, but last last night for instance, I did one of the week 6 runs I think, and I didn't make it all the way through the first running period. I monitor my heart rate and it was up to 190, so I switched to walking. When that happens I ignore…
  • Feel free to add me too! I know its so hard to stay motivated when you feel like you're the only person you know struggling with it!
  • I was late but it's in there now :) Sorry! I eat almost all my food for the day at work, but the computers at my new job block MFP (inhumane, i know) and the cell signal in the building is iffy, so I'm having a little trouble adjusting to remembering to log in and check stuff when I get home, because I'm not eating there.…
  • ooo love it fantastic idea! I'm https://www.fitbit.com/user/295BNP I haven't been using mine but actually just charged it up this afternoon thinking I would try to get back into it.
  • I'm interested! I love the idea! Is it just weight loss or could it work with fitness goals too? I'm focused more on fitness than weight loss right now but since they of course go hand in hand, I'm flexible. Or at least I'm trying to be focused - I'm struggling with it the last few months.
  • Washington, DC :D This winter I have a goal to do an outdoor activity once a week, but all my friends are being lame about the cold, so if anyone wants to do something outside, message me!
  • I have a big problem with this too, because I work until 6 and then have to commute over an hour home. The worst is when I have to work late - if I get home at 8 or 830, its too late to eat dinner or work out, much less both. I started eating dinner at work, right before I'm supposed to leave (so about 530), and that works…
  • Totally! And I'm not nearly as good about eating healthy as most of the people on this site. I try to eat well most of time, but when I cheat, I cheat pretty badly (think doritos...). Even so though, when I'm on the road traveling and stop at McDonalds for something easy I can eat while I drive, I feel sluggish and nasty…
  • I know it can be really hard. Some days it feels like there are only two kinds of people in the world - people who are crazy fit and people who couldn't care less about fitness. Being in the middle, or trying to get from one to the other, is definitely a struggle. If you need help with motivation, try the GymPact app! It…
  • You can do it! When I first started with a calorie deficit, I had trouble until I got into the mindset of- I can eat it, but I have to work it off later. So if I pigged out at dinner, I'd go for a 30 minute walk and burn some of it off. After a couple of weeks, I got to the point where I would think I pigged out, log it…
  • Its kind of terrible how everyone on this thread is just judging you instead of helping. I totally understand though. My parents do the same thing. Every time I come home to visit, they buy all my favorite junk foods. When I told my mom thanks for the food, but next time you don't need to buy it because I don't eat things…
  • I'm big on whole wheat pasta, partly because I love pasta, but mostly because I can't make it all day without a carb. I just can't get my calories high enough without a serving of carbs for lunch. This week I have pasta with kale and pasta with brussel sprouts. The kale one is amazing, the brussel spouts one is only ok.…
  • You look amazing!! Congratulations! And thank you for sharing such an inspiring story. What an incredible journey!
  • Full disclosure, I've never had it that bad. But I will occasionally sit down and eat a 9 x 13 inch pan of brownies or a whole bag of doritos, especially when I'm tired. My advice (other than getting enough sleep and trying to figure out why you're eating) is to leave when you realize what you're doing. When I feel like…
  • I recently read The Fast Metabolism Diet (http://www.fastmetabolismdiet.com/) and according to that, eating clean WILL make you lose weight faster. It's something about how the chemicals your body needs to break down the food you eat for energy instead of storing it for fat are produced by your liver. But your liver also…
  • I've been told WW doesn't count fruit because most people don't eat enough of it, and they want to encourage you to eat more. The reason I keep track of how much fruit I eat, though, is actually because it has a lot of sugar and that can cause weight gain. The South Beach Diet, which I've seen people lose a ton of weight…
