I used to do that but no lie, I get kind of dizzy doing all those laps. I recently got a cheap stationary exercise bike on amazon instead - it was like $130 I think, free shipping, and it folds up to go out of the way. It's easier and more fun than laps for me, because I can catch up on TV while I do it :)

I read, I think in Shape maybe, that women start to lose muscle mass in 7 days without a working. What I took from that is that the goal is to get the same muscle more than once in 7 days. But it turns out I know a lot less about fitness than I thought I did so I could be wrong.

I think it depends on a lot of factors...that's a huge number of calories to play with though, it might be worth going to see a doctor. I'm guessing with trying to lose 2+ pounds per week, he's pretty significantly overweight, in which case I'm not sure the same "starvation" rules (for whatever they are worth) apply.…

It helps to use a treadmill where you can monitor your pace, but last last night for instance, I did one of the week 6 runs I think, and I didn't make it all the way through the first running period. I'm interested! I love the idea! Is it just weight loss or could it work with fitness goals too? I'm focused more on fitness than weight loss right now but since they of course go hand in hand, I'm flexible. Or at least I'm trying to be focused - I'm struggling with it the last few months.

I have a big problem with this too, because I work until 6 and then have to commute over an hour home.
