  • Thanks waldenfam2 and neuroticvirgo......that's where I'm going wrong....forgotten to deduct the normal activity off the HRM reading :-) Off to give that a go now!
  • new thread bumped! I'm two days in with increased calories and already feeling healthier and a 1lb down..lol
  • That's inspiring! I have 2 weeks to go before I go on holiday, so after all the reading here and doing the calculations I'm going to give it a whirl for 2 weeks and then not worry about things whilst on holiday and come back to it! I was going to do a super restrict for 2 weeks but given that I have been struggling to keep…
  • Last week wasn't such a good one for me 2044/2100 calorie burn which was just short but bad considering my aim was quite low. Eating was good for most of the week and 1lb loss on the scales, when I checked in on my own weigh in day on Thursday. Tried out a new home exercise programme with weights etc but didn't manage to…
  • Struggling with my calorie burn so far...going to have to really raise the stakes. Food is going ok though, so thats something! Kay
  • OK week 2 check in!! Aimed for 2200 calorie burn and managed 2075, so just 125 short! No weight loss expected tomorrow morning as it was up this morning :-( Good reason for this though - I ate too many calories from Friday to Sunday! So only myself to blame! Didn't manage either of my 'not nice but twice things' but did…
  • So end of week 1: Calorie burn aim: 2200 and managed 2432 so that was ok Did gardening a couple of times as a different way of burning cals and replaced an hour on my laptop in the evening with an hours housework, twice. Stayed within my cals and logged everything every day apart from Monday when I did log everything but…
  • I've had a great week! Now thinking ahead to this coming week and hoping for another successful one! Are we doing the same thing again? This has worked for me...just right.....aiming to burn loads of cals is definitely the way for me - thanks for the challenge :-) Kay
  • Thanks Juliee! Will stick to 'cleaning.' Nice try Bas..one deck is enough thanks!! :-)
  • Calorie burn stands at 1365/2200 but still have 3 days to go, so that should be ok! New exercise was gardening yesterday....it certainly burned some cals and I have sore biceps!! Something twice that I don't like doing - replace an hour on laptop with an hour cleaning - done one but need to do another Diary has been…
  • 2 days into challenge and so far so good :-) On track for my mega calorie burn and I've done one of my 'do it twice' things! And......I've planned tomorrow's calorie burn!! :-)
  • Just seen this post and I'm in!!! May goal is to lose 6lbs. Motivators are: - Holiday in May - Regain running fitness Weaknesses: - snacking - cheese - alcohol Exercise aim: I'm on 1200 cals so need to burn 2200 this week This week's goal: - Replace an hour in the evening usually spent on laptop doing cleaning in the house…
  • Obviously they are not focused on numbers of calories burned, its the effect on your insulin and the efficiency of how your body uses oxygen and in turn your future health..... It does sound familiar to another documentary he did but I think this one on H.I.T. is different
  • I've just read the BBC article on this and may watch it tonight to see how they argue the theory behind it given that this differs greatly from all current advice in that you need to sustain aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes to have any health benefits. Yup it sounds like one of those catch all - its in your genes -…
  • Hi there - another UK member here! I'm Kay from Worcester. There are quite a few people here from the UK, so its good to have motivation from people in the same time zone! Welcome and good luck!
  • Wow......the commitment really shows! It doesn't look as though you need to lose any more! Well done!!
  • I hate actually hate not being able to wear leggings, unless with very long tops that cover my thighs completely!

  • Another UK user here but one who didn't get up early today :-) Its good to see so many UK peeps, I was wondering if there were many on here myself! I really like MFP and it definitely helps if you stick with it. Added you as a friend!! Oh yes and I live in Worcester!
  • People have different ways of approaching weight loss (the main reason most of us are here) and whether or not you have your food diary open or closed is down to preference. I happily have mine private and don't feel I'm missing out or being unsuccesful but I can understand others who want feedback on what they are eating…
  • Worcester Uk April 15th!
  • Thanks for all your comments. This will be my 2nd marathon although my first was a few years ago so I may as well class this is as my first! I think i sort of followed Hal's plan before and I've already had a look at his novice plans i will need to tweak them a bit to suit what I want but thats ok. My marathon is April…
  • I would say you've taken more than one step already... It must have taken courage to bear all like that in an attempt to put a line under it for good and start your new chapter - first step To have an aim and look forward to things being different and losing a few pounds before your next birthday - second step MFP is a…

  • Anyone know what Saturday's mini challenge is yet? Almost lunch time here so only half a day left to build the challenge in. I think what I am going to do is stay a day behind.......so today......I will do the abs challenge that I didn't manage to do yesterday! Happy Saturday Spartans!
  • Just forget the daily challenges - they are only optional - I've only managed one of them so far! Just stick with the weekly weigh ins and don't beat yourself up for not logging in every day! Hope you stick with it.
  • Its 11:45 here in the UK and I'm eagerly awaiting today's daily challenge. I guess the problem for us peeps east of the US is that we don't get the full day to complete the challenges!! Still going well though on staying on track!! Happy Friday!! Kay
