  • Really brilliant and please keep posting the pictures as you go. You are a brilliant inspiration to all of us... One question, did you follow the MFP guidelines on cals or work out what was best for you? Just curious as I would find 1200 very difficult to stick to but 1600 more manageable. Thanks!
  • So at 1700 this is 120 more per day than my current logging. So maybe I will try upping this slowly and see how I get on. Thanks for doing this. Looks like I was averaging out for the week around my Bmr which might explain the plateau. That said, hubby commented me tonight on my change in shape (that is a first!!) so the…
  • Hi, can someone help me work out my stats? 53 years old, 5' 8" and weigh approx 220 lbs. the first 20 lbs came off steadily but now I appear stuck and have been for one month. To lose 1 pound a week MFP says around 1570 cals a day. Should this be higher? I do weights and cardio 2-3 times a week burning 400 cals each time.…
  • I love the comment about only you know what you weigh but people notice inch loss. This is so true!
  • I dont think you are doing anything wrong and a 1 pound a week weight loss is fine! You are much better to lose at this rate and train your body this way than lose more each week and pile it all back on when you try to get to maintenance. Once you only have 14 pounds to go you should set for 0.5 pounds a week off.…
  • Good thread! Here goes: Smelly men who come and take the machine next to me when there are around 5 empty ones to choose from The staff who always seem to be cleaning the changing room floor with dirty wet mops just as I arrive. My trainers never go outdoors so are very clean and I don't like getting them wet Smokers in…
  • Interesting about the heart rate, I would agree with this. I do 40 minutes of weights then 20 mins of cardio. When i start the cardio the HR is around 145-150 starting and shoots up a bit from there.
  • Best of luck RavenMoon, it is worth upping your calories as, when you do reach your ideal weight, it will give your body less of a shock when going back to a normal daily rate. Maybe try getting up to 1400 over a period of weeks and seeing how you get on? I have been losing slowly at 1 pound a week. I log my fluctuating…
  • 00:50 in the UK and I am crying with laughter! So pleased this is still going!

  • I would set MFP for maintenance and carry on logging. If you gain a few pounds you can drop them off quickly when you get back. Good luck and enjoy the cruise!
  • MEEEEEEEE!!!! Plus a bit of a party animal and weekends!
  • Add me if you like. 5'8" and have slowly lost 22 pounds to date. Currently weighing around 218 and want to get to around 11.5 stone so here for the longhaul. Ps I set my interim target weights on the ticker in 20 pound stages as it encourages me to go to the next stage. My friends on here all have open diaries to friends…
  • Fantastic! What did you set your daily cal goal at and how tall are you?
  • Exactly this. I have lost weight whilst factoring alcohol into my calorie allowance but it is true that I lose weight faster, sleep much better etc when I don't drink. I am now trying to restrict alcohol to weekends only. This worked during Lent when I had wine on Sundays but not other times. I am trying to do this again,…
  • that last set of pics is brilliant! Just goes to show :-)
  • Hi, I went back to the gym yesterday after a break of about a month where I put on 4 pounds in weight. Not too bad considering all I ate! Here is a summary of my exercise routine, i also do some resistance exercises with elastic bands. I try to exercise 3x a week if I can. Comments welcome Warm up 10 mins rowing approx 80…
  • It does work. I have had slow but sure success with eating exercise cals back. Like some others here, if I have an event on at the weekend I will eat less back to store some up. As long as it averages out over the week I do lost weight.
  • This is all very encouraging. Thanks to the OP for posting this topic and all of those brave enough to show their pics.
  • Had to miss the gym for a month due to holidays and playing in shows but will get back into it next week and try to log the routines on a regular basis. Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
  • Very well done, you look amazing
  • Lady Lemoncurd. What a great post and a real inspiration! You look great in your photograph.... Perimenopause is a complete pain. I am finding the gym helps greatly and keeping positive.
  • 1200 over a period of time will not help. You have made the first step by raising your calories. As Trickey says, increase in 100 cal amounts until you maintain weight for a few weeks and then cut by 20% and see how you get on, you should start to feel a lot better. Also, how are your iron levels? Depending on your diet,…
  • Sounds about right. I list myself as Sedentary but exercise around 3x a week. I log the exercise and eat most of my calories back, unless I know I have a party or Dinner coming on where I may need to save a few thereby averaging out over the week. Good luck!
  • I love them and they are fine if part of your cal allowance and macros. I have just had my lunch which consisted of 1 avocado mashed with lemon juice 100 g crabmeat Spinach and watercress salad tomatoes Mange tout. Total: 400 cals, very filling and very healthy. I often slice the avocado into a salad and put in all in an…
  • My boobs! Particularly since I lost some weight and am less broad at the back...... I will be sorry to see them go but am trying to keep my shape in proportion. Maybe I will grow to love my legs instead!
  • That last post is so sensible. I love the idea of the portion size being in proportion to a closed fist, which is in proportion to the size of your body! I tend to weigh stuff and try to be fairly strict about it. Substituting cauliflower bhajee for rice, eating half the curry whilst out and taking the rest home for…
  • If I can make a suggestion, up your cals to 1400 a week, you will still lose weight, then do some weight training. I found that my weight loss was slow but that the weight training really helped me lose inches AND shape up the rather gross body I have. OK, I am still way overweight but I do look a lot better than before.…
  • 53 here with a very sedentary lifestyle 6 months ago. It has taken me 6 months to lose around 20-22 pounds but I have had Christmas and two holidays where I ate and drank what I liked during that time. MFP works. I set my cals for a one pound a week weight loss and 1600-1800 cals a week with some exercising. Good luck!
