I too love running. I've retired from competitive racing now due to back issues, but have raced 5k to marathon although my favourite distance was the half marathon. Feel free to add me as a friend and enjoy your running!

Hi, good luck with your goals! I too enjoy cycling and zumba type dancing too. I also enjoy walking and running but I don't do the gym. Basically, I would choose those exercises you most enjoy doing. They are the ones that you are likely to stick with!
-
I have to be careful with them as they make me crave more and more. I've heard it's said that it's in my head with the cravings but no other foods makes me want to eat more like artificial sweeteners or sugar. I too enjoyed watching 'Hungry for Change'

Yay, that's the way. Join the adventure!

Hi, I'm also new on here and it's great to see other LDS members. I'm from the UK so a little far away from you but hey, we have the internet! All the best with your goals and I'll add you as a friend.

I think that part of my problem is that when I see food, particularly in a buffet style, I just have to eat it. I guess if I keep away from the sugars, I won't crave as much! I have another couple of weeks here on the wagon before I go and get into the habit of watching my portions etc. Some good positive stuff here for me…

Your body may be getting used to the exercise you're doing. I run 6 times a week and I do interval sessions on the track now and again or go cycling, just to mix it up a bit. Also, I play with carb to protein ratios to get my body working harder to digest my food. Throwing in the odd fast day can also make a difference!

That sounds like me with biscuits/cookies. Once the packet is open, they have to go! I'm careful not to buy packets of loose chocolate or that would go quickly too irrespective of the weight. I've had multiple migraines and sickness through binging on the stuff!
-
Ummmmmm, yes I understand where you're coming from. I recommend that you stay with us for the time being so we can work through this together as a group!
-
Ahhhhhh, it seems I'm in good company then, there must be more of you out there. There's no shame in 'coming out'! Most of my stash is milk chocolate consisting of Cadburys Dairy Milk, and Caramel. There's Galaxy Ripple and normal bar. Twix, Mars Bars, Double Deckers, Bounty, Boost. I buy it when it's on offer at the local…

All the above are great and I would add the following: Mix up your exercise so your body doesn't get used to the same old routine. Try and eat some protein with every carb snack/meal you eat. Mix up your meals. Who said you can't have veggies for breakfast! Be prepared to adjust goals when necessary, there's no shame in it!
-
Yeah, I'm fiesty and fifty two too! I'll add you when I can work out how to do it. I'm still working my way around this site, ha, ha!
-
Yes, that's why I'm here, I binge too and looking at the above comments, we're not alone. I know that sugar and stress are my main triggers, so most of the time I am able to control it. I think that finding your 'binge triggers' will help you deal with the issue. Good luck!

Oh yes, that's brought back memories! A dodgy egg mayo bap. Was sick for two days. I was really relieved that I could sit on the toilet and reach the wash basin to be sick in at the same time! I lost 7lbs the first day but soon put it back once I was well again.

It's a great way to do it. Some of the changes you make may be subtle but that' not a bad thing. It also becomes a way of life and if you keep making subtle changes, you will find that in time all the good stuff you put into your body will leave no room for the rubbish to go in!

I forgot to say that i struggle a bit with technology, it's because I'm old! How do you add someone as a friend! Sorry if I sound an old fart!

I've been diagnosed as a 'slow oxidiser' so I'm able to run 'empty' for some time. I always make sure I have a drink before I go running, but can quite happily run 6-7 miles before breakfast. I think it helps to know how quickly we metabolize. Fast oxidisers need to eat before they exercise, so I'm told. It can be a bit of…

Hey, I'm new too and have only been here a few days and I'm from the UK too. I'll be your friend ;-)
-
Hey, well done you. Doesn't it feel great when we find something that works for us! That's great news! x

Ha, ha, you bring back fond memories. I too did this programme some years back and have since ran 3 marathons and probably about 25 1/2 marathons. The key is not to try and do both speed and distance at the same time. I worked on distance until I had reached my ultimate goal which was the marathon. Then I traded in the…

Oatmeal with berries and a boiled egg have been my replacement to cereal. I also replace the oatmeal with greek yoghurt or the egg with oat biscuits and some cheese just to mix it up a bit. I believe our digestive system gets used to eating the same old stuff everyday and works harder to digest other food types that we…

Question I've thought about this too but have been put off as I exercise every day and am concerned that I would burn out with the sheer lack of food? How do you other folks get around this? All the best with it anyway.
-
Yes, you're right, they're loaded with calories for the small amount that you get and sometimes expensive to buy. Unfortunately a lot of processed packaged foods are loaded this way. If you can, cook from scratch then at least you have control of what's going in your meal. i know this can be time consuming but long term…

Sorry to hear about your back issues. I have 3 bulging discs all in the lower back. Pilates has been a great help and I do it every morning for about 30 mins. Release and stretching exercising really help and my core is a lot stronger now. Mobility is our friend and it's just trying to find out what form of exercise works…

I find it helps to find some form of exercise that is enjoyable, pain free and remembering the reason for doing it! I run and walk most days, cycle and dance about 1-2 times a week. I enjoy it most of the time and when I get bored, mix up the routine a bit. Doing stuff with others helps, particularly if it's done at a pace…

Hi Does your tummy bloat after all meals and drinks, or just some? I have an intolerance to bread which bloats my stomach and since I've given it up, I don't get any bloating and my stomach is flatter. Soda type drinks have the same effect!

Hi I'm new to this forum but not to bulging discs! I have 3 at L3, L4 and L5. This all happened back in 2005. Fortunately, I have quite a large spinal canal so I'm not restricted too much by pain. Pilates has been a great help in building my core. I also work on keeping a good posture. I run 6 times a week but listen to my…
