This is pretty much exactly what I do. And if you think macros can be off, the exercise #s are often WAY off (the running #s are pretty close, but the cycling ones are crazy off. I think they assume everyone is pedaling a 40# knobby-tired bike). Short of using a HRM (which doesn't really work for me, because boobs +…

Something else I'm noticing...my acne (yes, at 42 I still battle this -- worse than I ever did as a teen -- now with 100% more wrinkles!) is worsening. My guess is as relative balance of estrogen decreases, relative testosterone is higher...and associated acne. Joy. :p

That makes sense, then. He's somewhere between 45 and 50, I believe. He's really been suffering, though it sounds like meds are helping immensely. I think my DH was saying that he was down to 160#s...and this is a guy who was well over 200, not long ago. He's over 6', too.

At what age were you IBD/Chrons/Colitis folks diagnosed? One of my DH's coworkers was recently diagnosed...I think he's in his late 40s. He's apparently lost a ton of weight and looks emaciated at this point. I thought IBD conditions were generally present by one's 20s, so I have to wonder how many years he may have been…

I'm 42 and have had this issue for a couple of years. Perimenopause can start anytime around mid-30s. I've been in this camp solidly since about then. Cycles getting increasingly short and my "thermostat" is totally screwed-up.

Are you more physically fit? Fit people sweat earlier and heavier than non-fit folks. Fit bodies are better adapted to cool off faster. I find that I'm cold all of the time (doesn't help that I live on the frozen tundra of MI and weight loss simply increases my cold intolerance), but I start sweating buckets within 5 min.…

Interesting to see the last-on-first-off thing discussed. I wondered if everyone lost fat this way. I know I do. First place I gain is my boobs and thighs. Last place I gain is my midsection. So the first 10-15#s I lose always gives me the extreme hourglass thing (assuming 30#s from start to goal) as my midsection shrinks…

My family has long joked that the Venus of Willendorf and my grandma Berniece could have been body-doubles. :p

Hmmm...I look at those around me and at myself in the mirror and more than half the people I know struggle to lose weight and to keep it off if/when it's successfully lost. I typically run ~650 or more miles and bike 3500-4k miles in a year...and struggle. If losing were easy and gaining were difficult I should be a size 2.

A decade ago I was 60#s overweight and didn't need to count. But at only 15-20#s over where I want to be on a relatively small frame the calories matter, too. If I don't count calories, too, I stall.

I made the mistake of venturing into that thread earlier. Egads. When I first did LC a decade ago those sorts of responses were to be expected, but it's 2015, FFS. On the bright side, I had forgotten about this group, so it's nice to be reading here, again. On a sort of personal side note, a month or so ago I had hit a…

I think it would be a rare low-carber who struggles to get enough sodium. If anything, the opposite is likely true if you're eating cheese, sausage, bacon, canned tuna/fish, and other keto-friendly foods. The things I know I could use more of much of the time are the other electrolytes -- specifically potassium and…

Greek Gods is awesome, too!

Plus much of what remains of the carbs is drained-off with Greek yogurts. But make sure a Greek yogurt is simply whole milk and cultures. If it has thickeners and additives, then it's not actually drained Greek yogurt.

Did you let your kitteh do the typing?! ;)

My sister won a $1000 gift card to The Loft and is in the middle of losing weight. I advised her to just buy maybe 3-4 new things every 2-3 months...because otherwise she's going to blow it all on stuff she won't get much wear out of. She wants to drop 3-4 sizes.

Yeah, on the bright side, I'm likely 10 years or less from menopause, given how long I've had what appear to be perimenopause symptoms. And I've decided that this current spotting is definitely not ovulation and is a full-on period, so I had a 26 day cycle, followed by 11 days. I have NO clue when to expect the next one!

I had old-school thermal ablation and it really helped, but I think the newer methods do a better job of reducing flow entirely. I think my endo has caused some of my uterine lining to grow back. Without endo I'm guessing I'd have less bleeding each cycle.
-
I'm astounded that you're able to lose on Depo. Man, that was evil. I did ONE shot and never did another. While some women get really moody, it had the opposite effect on me -- I had NO moods. It really freaked my DH out. And I had HORRIBLE acne and easily gained 5-10#s in that 3 month span. So I'm on day 7 of mid-cycle…

NICE! And that is amazing progress. Have you had to buy a new wardrobe, yet?
-
I suppose that would require some sort of full hormone panel, huh? I have had my thyroid checked a couple of times in the past decade and that all checks out OK, so I'm guessing something else is goofy.
-
Coming back to this to add that I also have stage 2 endo (was diagnosed when I had my tubal ~ age 30, but I had ALL of the textbook symptoms from my very first period at age 12). I imagine fluctuations in estrogen could also mess with the endo, itself. I'm definitely estrogen-dominant. A couple of years ago my doc had me…

I'm an avid runner and cyclist, though this is my off season. I'm logging 10-12 miles running and 45-60/week on the bike. Low intensity. I really don't suspect the workouts, since they're about half the miles I put down in the Summer and far less effort.
-
So...my 26 day cycle ended with a relatively light and short period. I think I only bled for maybe 5-6 days, instead of my typical 8. I didn't think much of it. But now I've been spotting for the past few days, I think maybe this is related to ovulation (at least it coincides perfectly with the little cycle app I track…

The heat thing...we've made poppers countless times over the past decade+. The more white membrane left in the peppers will = more heat, but some peppers are just hotter than others for no apparent reason. In the same batch I can eat one mild one, then the next one will be crazy hot, in spite of being well-cooked and…

I loathe anything without an underwire...when the girls get smooshed together (like with the Enell) I end up with eczema in my cleavage (same deal when I've worn the silicone band Road IDs...I'm literally allergic to my own sweat, heh). Big fan of compression + encapsulation over compression alone.
-
I get it on my road bike, too, but it's rarely ever an issue in that environment.

>10 years ago I dropped 60#s on Atkins. I lost that first 40 in the first year without struggle, but it took me another ~18 months to lose the last 20 and I fought tooth-and-nail to get there. The struggle to keep it off was even greater. I regained about 15 before I started running (and, later, cycling) and then still…

I need to add my newest baby, "Toothless" (after the dragon in How To Train Your Dragon -- I'm descended by Vikings, so it seemed appropriate). Seven Ti Mudhoney, hydro discs, Ultegra Di2... The steering tube no longer has an excess knob. I ended up liking the position in the photo, so it's nicely trimmed-down. That's…

Yay, 26 days! Last month was 24, the month before that 22. At this rate I might see 28 for this next cycle!!
