Back at this for as long as my body will allow...
After breaking my wrist mountain biking just over 2 years ago I embraced Keto/Atkins while I was recovering and attempted to stick with it once I was cleared to return to running and biking indoors on the trainer. I had been a dedicated keto/Atkins eater for a few years before taking up running, so I was happy to cut the…

Unexpected weight-loss reactions...?
So maybe 5-6 weeks ago I hit my first "stall" as my weight loss went from the steady/speedy loss most of us are accustomed to in the first month or two of LC to no movement for a week or two. I was griping about this and a friend kind of went off on me. Essentially telling me that it was because I wasn't eating at least…

Ladies: effect of fat loss on cycle duration?
I recall from years ago that when I lost 60#s that it had a pretty noticeable effect on the length of my cycles, which have always been a little on the shorter side (25-26 days in my 20s and early 30s). For the last 5-6 years I've had stupidly short cycles of ~23 days...sometimes as short as 21 (and then I have a light…

Carb Cycling for Endurance Athletes
Since there's no way to really search the groups I started a group for a pretty specific niche demographic. I'd love to have others of the swim/bike/run persuasion who follow a TKD/CKD carb cycling diet for weight loss and/or improved performance. Carb Cycling Endurance Athletes

ISO: Ketogenic Endurance Carb Cyclers
I started a group, since I was unable to find one using MFP's non-existent search feature. I'd really like for some experienced carb cycling endurance athletes to share their knowledge and experience. Most of the existing knowledge-base re: carb cycling pertains to bodybuilders and other non-endurance types of athletes.…

Carb Cycling Endurance Athletes?
Since there's no way to really search the groups I started a group for a pretty specific niche demographic - to bounce knowledge and expertise off of one-another. I'd love to share with others of the swim/bike/run persuasion who follow a TKD/CKD carb cycling diet for weight loss and/or improved performance. Carb Cycling…

Panache & Chantelle sports bras -- are they actually the same?
I've been wearing the Panache sports bra for a while and find that it controls bounce better than anything else I've found for running...but the overall fit isn't ideal on me. It has a small bit of room at the front of the cup, but if I go down a cup size I squash out badly at the armpits...so I'm like a 32D+ in the…

How many #s of water do you pack on with a cheat/binge?
I apparently can absorb a whopping 7#s!! This past weekend was "birthday weekend." All 3 of the members of our household have Feb. birthdays, so we had cake, ice cream, pizza, the grown-ups had hard cider and wine...and I didn't log for about 36 hours. I definitely didn't carry a calorie deficit, but there's no way I ate…

TKD/CKD Group?
Posted this in the exercise/fitness group >3 hours ago and not a bite, so maybe this would be better posed as a dietary question... Since there's no useful means for searching for specific groups, can anyone point me towards some TKD/CKD groups already in existence? Specifically, I'm interested in figuring out how one/both…

TKD/CKD Group?
Since there's no useful means for searching for specific groups, can anyone point me towards some TKD/CKD groups already in existence? Specifically, I'm interested in figuring out how one/both of these methods might be useful for weight loss while training and competing in relatively intense and/or endurance cycling and…

Any other endurance athletes here...?
Years ago I had great success on Atkins. Then I started running and eventually biking and gave up on low-carb, since it's not generally viewed as conducive to aerobic activity. A couple of years ago I was sidelined with a busted wrist from mountain biking and reverted to Atkins for a couple of months, since I knew I could…

Attempting Keto + Endurance Sports...take 2!

Effect of ovary &/or cyst removal on weight...?
I recently learned that I have a kiwi-sized "complex" cystic mass on my right ovary. Blood test confirms that it's benign, but given its size and my age (closing-in on 41) I'm opting to have that ovary removed. I also have endometriosis, so we're suspecting that this could be an endometrioma and back 10 years ago when I…

Prometrium for Peri-Menopause = Weight Loss...?
I'm 40 and have been dealing with the onset of peri-menopause for at least the past 5 years (mostly in the form of increasingly short cycles, but long bleeds). I've had endometriosis most likely since my first period (had all the textbook symptoms, but was not diagnosed via laparoscopy until 10 years ago). So my OB/gyn is…

*puke* 24+ hours of nausea...WTF?!
Years ago I did Atkins for about 2.5 years and lost 60#s (then went back to my carby crap-eating ways and regained half of what I lost). I never once had a bout of nausea. I have now been on the verge of puking for >24 hours. At first I thought it was due to over-indulging in adult beverages the night before (my alcohol…

X-posted on the RunKeto FB page
I have a question for you guys. I've been back on a low-carb/keto diet (generally 20-30 net carbs/day) since the first of the year (well, I technically started on 12/3, but took a few days off during Christmas and NYE to partake in eating all the crap that was so plentiful). I've also reincorporated running and indoor…

Ketostix/Lipolysis Sticks
Does anyone else use these? I will use one every few days to see what sort of results I get relative to what/how much I'm eating and my activity levels. Today's turned DARK purple instantly. I've never seen it that extreme. Given the #s corresponding to the match samples I'm thinking I'm ~100-120.…

First run post-fracture...
...and since starting back on LC/Keto. I took NYE off, so I've only been keto for a couple of days...not fully "adapted" and I only ran 5k at really easy pace (5.5 weeks since fracture and arm is still in a splint. Got the hard cast off yesterday). So far, so good. On semi-lower calories and ketosis level carbs I would…

Going Whole Hog for the Holidays?
Years ago I did Atkins for ~2.5 years and stuck to it faithfully. I lost 60#s. Eventually I fell off the wagon and went back to eating a lot of carby crap and gradually regained 30#s. I'm back to Atkins (in part because I have a busted wrist and cannot run or bike) and have dropped 12#s and a pant size since 12/3. I have…

Coconut Flour
Tell me everything you can about it...brand, where you buy it, favorite recipes, etc. How does it work in a bread machine? I understand that one needs to add gluten in order to make yeast breads.

"Whoosh" Rollercoasters
They freak me out. I hate seeing the #s increase and it takes all my will to not tweak my diet all over the place when it happens. It's not real fat gain when 2#s show up literally overnight.:grumble: :noway:

Injured...back to LC/Atkins!
Short intro, as I only have 1 working hand and typing is a biotch! Did Atkins for 2 years ago...starting about a decade ago. Lost 60#s. Regained 20 (got back to eating crap) and took up running to relose. Did 3 marathons and nearly 20k miles on-foot and on bikes...and gained another 10. Nearly 2 weeks ago I crashed my mtn.…

Ketogenic Endurance Athletes...?
I recently picked-up The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance by Volek and Phinney. It has been really eye-opening. It shouldn't be. I lost 60#s years ago while following Atkins for about 2 years. I got down to 124#s. Then I fell off the wagon and regained 20. I started running almost 7 years ago in the hopes…

Oh...a 29er that will work for me!
BikeRumor.com just released details of upcoming 2013 Cannondale models, including a new women's "Tango" 29er (I assume that this is the answer to the Trail SL 29er with high standover that makes it unridable for a lot of shorter folks and women). I NEED this bike! DS has taken over my "petite" sized 2009 F5, which is a…

Do you name your bikes?
If so, what are their names? Mine are as follows... Road: Oby 2 Kenobi (first bike was named Oberon, aka "Oby," after one of my favorite beers) CX: Little Rock - after the spunky little chick in Zombieland. Also because a CX bike is the ideal vehicle for surviving the zombie apocalypse. Mtn.: Vera - After a fictional gun…

Calorie Burn Overestimation...?
Seems like the general consensus around MFP and among friends of mine on the site is that the calorie burn estimates are WAY generous...but just HOW generous? 10%...20%? I will say that I am finding that I am not nearly as hungry as I should be were I actually working with a true 500 calorie/day deficit. I am also not…

Swiss Miss Sensible Sweet NSA label makes 0 sense
Here is why. A serving is listed as 1/4C, but the instructions describe using 2TB/mug. 2TB is 1/8C. Also the canister claims 20 servings, but I don't think the canister would hold 5 cups of powder. It looks like more than 2.5 cups, though. So is a serving 75 calories or half that much...?
