Injured...back to LC/Atkins!

Short intro, as I only have 1 working hand and typing is a biotch!
Did Atkins for 2 years ago...starting about a decade ago. Lost 60#s. Regained 20 (got back to eating crap) and took up running to relose. Did 3 marathons and nearly 20k miles on-foot and on bikes...and gained another 10. Nearly 2 weeks ago I crashed my mtn. bike and fractured my right wrist in 2 spots (read the entire sad saga on my blog: zoomylicious.com). Ortho won't let me do ANYTHING until after 1/1. :huh: :noway: :grumble:
Started Atkins induction (loosely...have had some wine, nuts, greek yogurt and gone a bit over on my net carbs a couple of times) a week ago and am already down 8.2#s. Ultimately would like to lose at least another 15-20.

I'm a restarter too but I'm allowing myself greek yoghurt, berries and nuts as i feel it will help me stick to it. These are all OWL foods anyway and they do say you can start on OWL.
Well done on your marathons! Amazing! Just goes to show that Gary Taubes book "Why We Get Fat" is so true, he talks alot about cases like yours.

I know how you feel! I broke my collar bone recently and really couldn't do any working out at all to not displace my collar bone more while it healed, but been doing low carb atkins and have gone down 9 pounds, finally able to just start getting back onto the elliptical and in a few months once bonce heals completely will be doing Insanity.
Don't give up.. it really is 80% what you pout in your mouth and 20% exercise buit every little bit helps!

I had great success w atkins my first time. Then I relapsed and was never able to repeat, over multiple tries. Read my profile for more.
Then I found Fast-5, combined that with low Carb High Fat, and found a solution for me again.0 -
