That's pretty tough. I had knee surgery earlier this year but could at least ride the bike. I assume you've been to the doctor for this? If you're so limited that you can't walk, I would just rest until you're healed to not risk it. If you haven't been to a doctor though, do that and maybe he'll send you to get PT as well.

It sure is trendy though. That's something...

I think the one issue is that running carries a higher risk of injury than a lot of other lower impact activities. This is amplified if you are overweight. Plans like C25K have mitigated this to some degree, but it remains that there are safer activities for weight loss if you hate running.

I really don't understand guys like this. I got to about 30 pounds overweight and I couldn't stand it. When I started working hard to lose the weight, my wife told me I didn't have to worry about it because she loved me either way. I believe her but isn't it my responsibility to take care of myself so that I will still be…

You clearly caught a virus or some other infection but it may be due to overtraining that you have a tough time fighting it off. I over-trained last year and started becoming sick a lot and fatigued. I backed off for a few weeks and then re-tooled my training to be less intense. Make sure you are getting good rest between…

Wow. That is maybe the first time I've ever heard of someone with your experience say they absolutley hate running. I have to ask the obvious though...why? Why did you keep going and why do you still? If something made me miserable, I just plain wouldn't do it.

My first question then would be, why run? I love to run. In fact, I love all excersise once I've started, but running is the only thing I actually look forward to. But if I was just trying to improve my body composition, there are better ways to do it that don't carry as much risk of injury. So again, what is your…

If it's just muscle soreness, you might just try stetching and walking some to recover. You can also try a foam roller; these things can really help to loosen your muscles (although it can be a bit painful). Wait to run again until the pain gets mostly better and don't injure yourself.

I was out running a few weeks ago and some chick rode by on her bike in shorts that barley qualify as underwear. I almost ran into a pole. I'm not mad though...

Here's something I did that might help you before you develop the will to say no. Plan out each day's food allotment in advance, log it, and then follow the plan. That way you're not just figuring out what to eat as you go and saying no is easy because you would ruin your entire plan with that cookie or cake. Some people…

I think a few other runners in the know might have addressed this, but just in case, this is absolutley false. Go check out how many miles per week elite 5ker's run. You might be suprised. Hint - Building aerobic base is the most important thing you can do to improve your running times. You do that by running lots of easy…

Brother, the fight isn't over. I've never been a real big guy but I know alot about being down and out and not wanting to wake up. I can remember the worst point in my life, when I spent Christmas drunk at a bar by myself because I had no one. If someone would have told me where I'd be today, and how my life would have…

Please. Technology is one of the easier things to monitor. Just because they might find a way to sneak around you does not absolve you of your responsibility as a parent.

My wife and I may be some of the only 2 people left to have never used Facebook. And we're only 30. We are educated, live in a large city, and are upper middle class. So no, it's not because we're stupid back water folk. Oh, and we've never touched an Apple product (though we use Android smart phones, etc.). Quite frankly,…

That's simply not true. I see that you recently joined MFP. Hang around long enough and you'll learn that alot of what you think you know about weight loss might simply be a myth. I almost never eat breakfast and consume 70-80% of my daily calories within 2 hours of going to bed. <gasp>

Make sure you're doing the PT exactly as prescribed and don't overdo anything else. A lot of exercise related injuries are due to overuse so make sure you aren't making that mistake. I am coming back from 2 injuries this year (1 requiring knee surgery, 1 just rest), and it's tough from a mental standpoint because you just…

Most likely you're just in better shape but you might also have been more well rested. If it's cooler outside then that will make a difference as well.

Forest Gump - when Bubba dies. That's all I have to say about that.

I traveled throughout the deep South (in the US) for years and unless I wanted fried chicken it was my only option sometimes for lunch. Was it the best tasting sandwhich I ever had? No, but it's cheap and there is a lot of variety. Also very easy to estimate calories via their website. People use their personal experiences…

I used to date a girl that constantly farted in her sleep. Loud farts that would wake me up. It really did bother the hell out of me even though it wasn't her fault. I just told her to point that cannon the other direction.

Running with some biking for cross training. Would love to get into mountain biking but there aren't many places around here for it.

1. Food should not cause guilt. You ate some candy. It really isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. You'll eat more candy and junk at some point. As long as your making better decisions the majority of the time, you'll be fine. 2. Never Give Up.

"The only difference that exercise has been found to have on food was that food is reported to taste better after exercise." Beer certainly does.

There is a lot of advice here about waiting until your doctor clears you. It's sound enough advice but be aware that the doctor is just making an educated guess based on what he knows. You know your body better than he does so just use your common sense and start very very slowly. I recently had meniscus surgery on my left…

Or anything else for that matter.

Do you plan on eating anything while drinking it? If you're eating a heavier dinner (steak, pork, etc), I'd go with the Merlot. If you're having light fare or snacks, go with the Chardonnay. If no food or just want to celebrate, go with the champagne. More than likely they will all be cheapo but I have yet to turn down…

I can't stand when women say that. My Mom was in a tough spot and lived with my wife and I for a few months right when I was really buckling down to lose some weight and improve my body composition. My training plan was 6 days a week, 1-1.5 hrs a day of sweat and pain. She saw me go through all of this. When I finally…

Yes, make sure you thoroughly rinse your food before consuming. Or just eat at a deficit, hit your macros, and enjoy your life.

I disagree with him. Eating pizza everyday is not a moronic idea. In fact, it sounds down right delicious.

Is the nasuea also associated with gasping for breath? I'm not familiar with exactly how the program is structured but if the answer to my question is "yes" then you might need to just do walking or slow down your running intervals for now. If you have access to low impact cardio options (biking, swimming, etc.) then you…
