  • Yeah... I think that was everyone's point. You can have the salad and have a treat and STILL be on point for weightloss AND health. It's not ALL OR NOTHING.
  • I do. Actually, daily. Those daily 'treats' are what keep me on track. KNOWING I get a couple of cookies (ginger lemon from Carr's, YUM) and some hot tea, or brownies with a cup of coffee, or even a pack of Rolo's, or kettle corn and cider or whatever rings my bell that night helps me. Are they huge, do I eat them all day…
  • He's responding for the same reason you are responding -- it touches a nerve. You could do the same you're saying Jof should do -- you could just ignore what he is saying and move on. The difference is his is constructive criticism of a real problem with people who REALLY do think that 'fast and easy' is the way to go…
  • The reason for all of the sarcasm is the 'doing it fast and you don't want to hear how it isn't safe', thing. The truth is, you can lose about 2lbs. per week for the next five weeks. You may get lucky and have a couple of weeks with more. Especially the first week. Or, you may have a week of little or no loss. There is no…
  • Hey! There is a Stronglifts for Women group. Head over that way and read all of the stickies. But my quick answer is to just move on to the next correct workout and don't worry about waiting until after that. Correct as soon as possible. I use bar for warm-up, but moved to weight pretty fast. A lighter weight, but still…
  • *shrugs* Not really. Things like this don't take into account space and energy. While it may SEEM like a good idea, it would have to run for about 14hrs. or so a day -- on electricity. Making it pricey. Not to mention the cost of the actual unit. In the end, it would be cheaper and more efficient to just buy it. That is…
  • WITH BROWNIES. Cause husband made brownies and they would be lonely if I only ate ice cream...
  • D@mn it! Now I want fried okra! And maybe a steak. YUM. This with the salad... sans the chicken and add some goat cheese... OHHHHH YEAHHHHH
  • ^^ Perfect reason to do it as part of a BALANCED diet. You ENJOY it. I won't lie... I enjoy a glass of juice once in a while.
  • Well, maybe for you. But MANY people across the US (and world, for that matter) live in areas where it is not conducive to gardening. At least not on a scale where ALL of their fruit and veg would come from a privately owned and grown garden. An example is I have a friend who lives in PA -- her bylaws in her community…
  • And here I thought that was just me! :drinker:
  • There won't be any. Just like I doubt there will be many (if any) people who have lost weight and gotten healthier through this method.... other than the FSND guy.
  • Yeah. I was just clarifying that yours were smoothies for the OP, but would be an option. A smarter option, IMHO since you would get the fiber and things from items like pumpkin. I sorta want to try the pumpkin now. It sounds yummy. But then again, I freakin' love pumpkin! Pumpkin juice sounds gross, but not whole pumkin!…
  • Another thing you could do, if you are truly interested in finding out how well this works, is to go to the 'Success Stories' section and ask how many of those people who have not only lost weight but who have improved their cholesterol, reversed their diabetes, improved their strength, gotten whatever health ills under…
  • I'm confused... I wasn't arguing with you...
  • You've probably heard this before, but it isn't about just eating 'well'. It's about the calories you're consuming vs. burning. The calorie counts for some food IS off and same for exercise. I do eat burgers, fries, pizza and brownies... I'm down a pound this week. I also ate some grilled chicken, a salad, carrots, plums,…
  • It happens to everyone. Weight loss isn't linear at all. Wouldn't it be nice if it were? But then again, weight gain isn't either so... I guess in the end it balances out! LOL Anyways, my suggestion is to re-evaluate your goals. Mostly, what is your cals set at and how much are you set to lose a week? It could be your…
  • What you are doing is not juice. What you are doing is a smoothie. And if OP were going to do some sort of liquid diet or whatever, this IMHO, would be the way to do it. It's food, but in drinkable form. I wouldn't go all liquid (OH THE BATHROOM HORRORS) but adding a smoothie or even two to your diet would be just fine. My…
  • I'm doing Stronglifts. You can look up the vid for free on Youtube. And if ya want, there is actually a group on here that is Stronglifts for women and they have threads and pins with all the info. I love it! I've heard NROLFW is a bit wordy and gets complicated after a bit, but the info is good. But I really like this…
  • Nope. Not really! Unless you want to count maybe tomatoes. They were in a VERY rural area back in the early 1900's and even today, no 'big' towns exist in that area and you have to drive half an hour to get to a real grocery store. So no, no they did not. Not unless they grew it. And truth be told, having the money to…
  • Many are indeed quacks. When I found the one I am going to now, I was skeptical but I had been in so much pain I was on the edge of well... jumping. I've been going for a few months now and they told me that they hope that soon I won't have to see their faces anymore because I'm feeling 'normal'. However, it's not a set…
  • *shrug* Go to some nursing homes or talk to people who are in their 80's and 90's and ask them what their diets were. Ask them how they have eaten pretty much all of their lives. Do it. Go. NOW. Because most of those folks will tell you they grew up eating meat -- and not just the pretties but the organs, too, like brains…
  • Yup. What everyone else said. I don't think you really have anything to lose but you could definitely get tighter and look more fit with some heavy weights. Eat maintenance and hit that protein and lift, lift, lift!
  • What what! Great job Tumbledown! I can see a huge difference -- not just in back chub but as you mentioned posture, your chest looks better (boobs are higher) and then your waist doesn't stick out. Overall, fantastic change! Keep it up lady!
  • Personally, I think you have to find what works best for you life, mind, and body. I did low carb for a few years because I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. I lost weight, my symptoms went away, and I felt great. I kept it off. Then after my second child, I started with calorie counting and have lost 50lbs.…
  • Just wanted to say thanks to all who previously posted their vids! By taping and watching mine against yours (and reading the critique's), I quickly saw where I needed to make changes and I am excited to move forward. I think I'm going to see a good amount of improvement with these changes. Again, thank you!
  • Tons of free stuff on Youtube and FitnessBlender. :) I stay at home, but over the years have collected enough stuff to have a home gym. So, I have a free weight set now! WOOT! I do mostly that and walking or biking. You could easily do the free vids (stuff like Zumba, Pilates, etc.) and even stairs and jump rope. Good luck!
  • Uhhh.... NO. Incorrect. That 1800 that he is given is ALREADY AT A DEFICIT. A man at his size and age would need to eat around 2600 to maintain. So at 1800, he would already have a deficit of 800 per day! 1800 is pushing it since he is already under his BMR, but meh. And that is if he is somewhat sedentary! So, NO. If he's…
  • I try for 2 to 4. I don't do much cardio other than regular walking, etc., but I am trying really hard to get on a more consistent routine with lifting. Although, I may start doing more cardio to try to be more supportive of a friend of mine. I just don't see the benefit of working out every single day. I think I'd hate it…
