Hi wissywig! Welcome to our group. In the weekly posts you can write and ask anything you wish. Usually someone will answer ;) Feeling good this morning. Had a bang on fast yesterday, despite (or because) I went out in the evening. Went for after dinner drinks and stuck to water and coffee without any trouble. Met some…

I agree with mama's comments on protein and fat. They keep me full while carbs (especially grain carbs) make me hungry. If you're a vegan a mix of a protein source and an avocado or nuts might help curb cravings. Well I saw my bat friend this morning... it was up quite late (as in after dawn) flying around outside of my…

That's a hard one flossy. But cardio makes me hungrier than strength and a 300cal burn doesn't trigger my hunger like 500+ burn. Then there is the hormonal cycle...this triggers cravings that are very hard to resist! In the end it seems to be more of a question of my mindset than anything else. I'm doing OK atm, but really…

ACSL3 - hope everything normalizes soon and you feel better dryheatfitness - a doctor's opinion is a good idea...hope it heals quickly! Good job on your fast oolou. If three meals help you go for it! I do well on a small lunch and a 350cal dinner. If my meals are too many and too small I get hungry ;-) But some people are…

I kinda did in a quiet way...but all it wanted was to get back out, so opening the curtains seemed the logical solution at 2am ;) As a spirit animal, it probably came to me for a reason... bats are a sign of intuition, communication and a few other things that are of importance in my life atm...

I get where you are coming from. Maybe she actually is disappointed in herself because she wasn't the role model she wanted to be. I agree with Ouloo, her inept way of hoping you do it better than she did.

Well done on hitting the breaks, dryheat! And I hope your quad heals quickly. Won't be having a second fast this week....took today off and spent it on the Rhine with my SUP - 4.5h paddling plus breaks B) Was a beautiful day and probably the last long tour this year. Starting point right under the Rhinefall On my way to…

I like Mo/Th best too Flossy. My Friday attitude is similar to yours :p thus I totally get it. I've been logging all days for the last week or so with exception of last Sunday because I was away. I'm going to continue logging days when cooking is in my control for the same reason as you. And keep dancing like nobody's…

Sounds like a nasty virus you and your family picked up. Hope you feel better soon! My fast day is on the box and I have tai chi again after summer break. Always a welcome distraction on a Monday fast :p
-
Weather stayed dry this afternoon, thus no excuses :p 7k in 55min, second run after my break and 3k more than last weekend :) What did you do for yourself today?

@Oolou - my fast day meals consist of 300-500g of veggies (zucchini, cucumber, tomatoes, pepper, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower are all low cal) and about 100g of a lean protein source. My lunch is often steamed veggies in a broth with some curry powder. Very filling and leaves more cals for dinner ;-) Had a good week…

Well an almost successful fast around 600cals. All is good. Had quite a scare today. Had to call the ambulance for an apprentice this morning. She suddenly keeled over and even lost consciousness for a moment....turns out she has been operated on twice for a heart condition and little old me knew nothing about it. Anyway…

Looks like everybody is getting back to work and back to fasting ;-) Great job! With 11 new apprentices in the lab, my head spins all day and I have no time to think about what treats I could eat. Even have to make sure I drink enough water inbetween! I also feel better since last week. Really think my mind set is back to…

Yup. I tend to overcompensate, when I have three fasts in a week or just one day between fasts. As my deficite on a good fast day is only 1000-1200cals, an additional fast day doesn't increase my weekly deficit much, while still causing my body to yell for more food on non fast days. Thus with my restart and better mindset…

@oolou - Usually I prefer working all day on fast days, as if I cave, it's around 15h, when I am at home.... Not many snacks at work, so it's easier to stick to the fast and then eat an early dinner around 17-18h. @flossyruby1 - not in the challenge, but I do plan on tracking regularly. I don't track meals out though, but…

Planning is the key for me too.. I've been at it since May 2013...and still plan my fast meals the day before. As I have always taken lunch to work, cooking and portion ingredients ahead of time are normal for me. I also have some staples that freeze well. Those are my fast foods, when I haven't prepared anything. No…

That's the great thing about 5:2...tailor it to your life and needs, not vice versa.

Came out of my summer vacation and work trip at 65kg....way too high for little old me and 8kg over my low of 57kg, which I was quite happy with. That scared and motivated me and I had a easy and perfect fast yesterday and was around maintenance today. Weighed in at 64 today. Thus the water is gone. Now I need to chip on…

^^good potassium sources. Many veggies have lots of potassium too. I don't take any supplements. But keeping my potassium high and sodium low helps avoid water retention. I do this by eating lots of veggies, and sometimes potatoes and bananas , while avoiding highly processed foods, which are often very high in sodium.

@RoxianneM - not all people count on non fast days. You can try eating as you wish (within reason). If you lose and feel good doing it, then that's perfect. Don't stress too much about the actual number. See how you feel how you look take measurements along with weigh ins. I have to count on non fast days as 1600 cals are…

Ha ha! Yes I totally understand! Probably better to postpone baking to a non fast day ;) Jam is in the jar so to speak....3h from picking to jar...doesn't get any fresher. Fasting tomorrow, so I will wait to taste it until Wednesday :) Had a good day cal wise too as I did not eat any of my exercise cals back and am feeling…

That's the beauty of 5:2. It fits into your life as you wish. :) If you are 'only' in it for the weight loss, eat when ever it suits you on fast and non fast days. For other health benefits, you possibly get more for your 'money' with shorter eating windows. Just depends what you're after and what is sustainable for you.

Nice national holiday today...26k on my bike, a swim in the Rhine, an Ice cream break along the way and 2kg of freshly picked wild black berries on the way home. ..now I will go make some jam B)

Yes! Flumi loves her rebounder, especially in the wetter, colder season, when running outside isn't alway fun ;) It's a great form of cross training and there are lots of good training videos on YouTube. It can be easy jumping or an intense mix of cardio / strength, depending on the video. @flossyruby1 - cool, that you…

On my fast day too, @oolou :) Always good to start the week with a fast. Made a tuna-tomato-cucumber salad. That is a summer staple-fast menu for me. Lots of low cal veggies, protein and fresh herbs for flavor. Had 1/3 for lunch and am saving the rest for dinner. As to your question - I started 5:2 in May 2013. Except for…

Well that was fun...19k in about 3h on my SUP plus a few breaks along the way. So lots of balancing and core work today ;) Might go for a shorter tour tomorrow afternoon, but a swim in the Rhine with my swim friends in the early morning followed by a horse back ride. It's supposed to be very hot tomorrow B)
-
Had a nice at home fast today with a horse back ride in the morning and a lazy afternoon...recuperating from last week ;) Planning a river tour on the Rhine on my SUP tomorrow.... at 30°C and sun the river is definitely the place to be B) Have a great day!

Hey ladies - gotta keep life interesting and the tandem rides were much cheaper than in Switzerland. So I thought. ..what the heck, why not...well worth it. My stomach was a bit flussy at the end, but starting and landing were actually not hard at all. Flossy- hope you do find an alternative class. Would probably be like…

Do that. Form is key. Only do as many as you can do with good form. I use a mirror to make sure my plank is a plank and not a 'roof'. Started at 3 and went up to 3*20 in 1-2 months when I was doing them every morning. As with everything, it's a question of doing them.... My trainer at the time said, stay in full plank push…

@mamainthekitchen I did push ups regularly for quite awhile. Keep trying to get back to them. They are awesome for upper body and core strength / stability.
