  • Great progress everyone!! I celebrated the beginning of my vacation yesterday with a little afterwork celebration :p Had a busy week at work and am glad to have a week off now. I will try to get in a fast on Monday and maybe a 'half' fast on Wednesday. Will be visiting friends and helping my sis renovate her new house on…
  • For those of you wanting to run. ...slow and steady at the beginning. Run slower than you think you could. At the beginning that might resemble a shuffle more than a run. If you need to catch your breath, slow to a brisk walk. Puls down again...start running. ...and repeat. At the beginning you will be slow and walking a…
  • That's my kind of fast food :D
  • Awesome progress @GraetLifeIfYouDontWeaken ! I've actually been pretty lazy as of late, but I'm working on my mojo ;-)
  • It was raining this morning...so no biking to work. But I came home to beautiful spring weather and ran 6k and added 2x10 push ups in at the end. YES!!! First afterwork run in a very long time and I haven't done many push ups of late either. :)
  • What Mama said! I will be cheering to you both this evening as it is going to be a sunny day on my balcony and that needs to be celebrated B) Had a good and difficult week with emotional ups and downs. Weight is up due to festivities, but my next fast day is around the corner. Though I'm not losing...I am maintaining and…
  • Well done. The losses will slow down. At the beginning you lose retained water quickly. Thus no worries, just keep doing what you are doing. As long as you feel well all is good ;-)
  • Snuck in a 600cal fast today as the bosses came and left without wanting to go out for lunch ;-) Light day planned for tomorrow. Thus I should be able to level out Thursday and Friday's evening festivities :)
  • Believe me. I never 'forget' to eat and normally catch up in the evening, if I didn't eat much during the day...which really doesn't happen. Which is why I plan my fast days meticulously ;-)
  • Accidently fasting!!! OMG, that just never happens to me!! You're awesome Flossy!
  • Yup. What flossy said. It also depends on how much you have to lose. With strict fast days and staying at maintenance on the other 5, my weekly deficit is only 2000 - 2500 cals. ..thus my losses, when strict are only a rod 1/2-1lb per week. If I indulge on a few days, I maintain but don't lose... Second after easter fast…
  • @flossyruby1 and @Marmitegeoff - we are in the same boat. I gained 4kg in the second half of 2015 and am still at my January 2016 weight minus maybe 1kg.... I am also one of the people that becomes a bit to lax when I don't log. I actually think...we are pretty normal :p So cracking the whip for myself too, otherwise my…
  • Good job you two!! Last glass of wine is down the hatch. No special plans this week except for Wednesday evening. I made 4L of veggie soup that I will eat over the course of the week. Along with my two fasts, it shall be a good week and a short one ;-)
  • Never @snaps27 :p Hope kid nr 2 feels better soon! Somehow my post from today got lost. A good fast on Monday and a low day on Tuesday. Worked a half day today and now off until Monday! Yay! Had a wonderful ride on my care horse this afternoon. Weighed in at 60.5kg after my 1.5 fasts...haven't been there in a while. Now I…
  • The 3lb over the weekend are mostly water. I do that each weekend ;-) Can you fast tomorrow? Anyway, one bad fast does not mean failure. It happens to all of us. Get back on the train, but don't beat yourself up. (I have to tell myself that every now and again too ;) )
  • Understand you point, Kate and my subscription runs out in April. Will not renew. I have not been looking actively myself...they find me. My heart is open (which is new, so I give some of them a chance.) And each one has their positive traits until they get scared (usually some old baggage catches up with them and they…
  • Been a bit MIA this week. Good fast day on Monday and a nice date to boot. Then the week turned.... Was out and about alot and had a low day on Friday, but it definitely didn't count as a fast. And again on an emotional roller coaster. Da****it, how come they don't realize, they are not ready for something new, before they…
  • That was the body sabotaging you. Beware! But you'll get back. When I lose a bit, my body goes into rebellion mode....crave crave crave... Had an okay week last week food and fast wise. However tthe weekend rolled in...dinner at a friend's on Friday, seminar and two meals out on Saturday and and date with a new guy…
  • On my fast days I have a 7-8h eating Window. I sometimes follow 16:8 on non fasting days, bit as I enjoy breakfast, not daily. You can follow any type of eating window in combination with 5:2. Many have found it important not to overristrict cals on nfd. This can be counterproductive and lead to binging.
  • Hey Ladies and Gents....I would love to see some other fotos than just my own :p
  • Sure @Alairissa . I would actually prefer that...but I tend to eat too much, if I don't track cals periodically. Thus I track them when I can and don't worry when I can't.
  • “From an evolutionary perspective, it’s pretty clear that our ancestors did not eat three meals a day plus snacks,” Dr. Mattson said. ^^this has always been my expaination for the haters and the skeptics ;-) Cavemen did not have 3 meals a day ;-) Quiets them down really quickly. I do know not all people do well on 5:2, but…
  • I had those 700-800cal fast for the second half of 2015. At one point I accepted it and as soon as I got some other stuff sorted, my fasts and my motivation got better. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow, instead of constantly fighting. :) You're sweet. Thank you! The saying hi and letting go again is part of the…
  • I can echo what flossy said. Mostly two days a week, sometimes 5 fast days in two weeks. If I overdo the number of fasts, my body wants to compensate on non fast days. Two days between fasts help me, though I have done several back to back fasts this year, due to social plans. I'm not sure, I could have done that in the…
  • So as one of the 5:2 elders ;) ...I will start May 2013 / 2014 /2015 and counting.... 5:2 for life for me :) 86kg --> 57kg --> 58kg, currently at 61kg and slowly coming back down. Overweight / obese all of my life until the age of 45. Yes, it can be done. Takes time, the right mindset and a sustainable change in eating and…
  • Go stalk my page ;-) You can start a thread in the group. Don't think we have one and it's a cool idea.
  • @Alairissa - imo key is to not want too much. Stick with two fast days, if possible have two normal days in between. If you tend to eat too much on nfds (more than maintainance), you might want to count cals on nfds too (ME). I find it important not to overrestrict on nfds. If I do that, then I tend to start 'bingeing'. If…
  • Please don't remind me @snaps27 :p There is a sequel to that story...Today he had a friend try to befriend me on fb...then when I asked the guy who he was, I started getting messages from both simultaneously. Needless to say I deleted the request... How come a guy, that did not want to talk to me for almost two weeks after…
  • Nope. Everyone is welcome here and can talk about anything :) There are a few newbies here and then there are the oldies like myself....5:2 since May 2013 and in it for life. The weekly post is for everyone and every topic.
