+1 for heart rate monitors. Barring that, what I used for quite a while until I got one was an online calculator for converting heart rate to calories. My elliptical reported heart rate when I hold the handle and I would periodically check. For example, for the first couple minutes my heart rate would be in the 120s, so I…

Don't go for speed....you are doing this for the long haul. Two pounds a week is good.

Odds are that if you think this is a lot of calories compared to what you normally eat, you aren't doing a good enough job tracking your intake and/or are overestimating your exercise calories burned. I didn't really start having good success until I had a scale (and used it) instead of eyeballing and bought a heart rate…

I take no credit for this....found in another posting: It is relatively easy to get the information into Excel (you can print during this process). Step 1. Go to http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reports/printable_diary/gerrykuhl Step 2. Select the date range you want to export Step 3. Select everything from before the first…

The Fitbit One will sync. I prefer one that doesn't scream "tracker" on my wrist.

Same thing here. I added strength training since the first of the year as I had been pure cardio for the 8 months of my diet. I knew I would put on some weight, but was surprised at retaining water after 1 workout. Bothered me enough to research and find out it is common. It went back away after my body adjusted to the…

I always use manual and adjust settings to get where I want to be for my heart rate. That way I have a much better idea on how many calories I burn (you can't trust any machine 's estimates of your calories burn for a workout). I agree that "most" of the "fat burning" settings are junk (my opinion of course).

THIS! As several others have said, don't drink calories. They don't fill you up and the sugar crash is going to make you want to eat too soon later. The slurpies have to go unless you are treating them as a treat...and then realize one drink is an entire meal of calories. I also saw you drank juice this morning. Skip…

Break down and get a scale. That is a must if you are going to be serious about it. Eyeballing just doesn't work and weight tracking is better than trying to judge by volume anyway. Once I started weighing and realizing how far I had been off on my "guesstimates" I had much more success.

I'm up for it.

I agree it looks like you are under eating here and putting your weight loss into a stall as your body doesn't want to let anything go. It is no wonder you feel awful. Recommend you calculate your BMR/TDEE so you know how many calories your body requires every day just to function. You can't continuously eat hugely below…

+1 on the Fitbit. Very motivational. Add to the fact that it links to MFP and I absolutely think it is one of my best purchases as it has really helped keep me going for several months. Setting MFP to interact with Fitbit and show the negative calories is really helping keep me honest.

We tend to see ourselves in relation to each other in certain ways. When something in that equation changes (new job, new appearance, etc) some people don't like the new view. Whether envy, jealousy, insecurity, or something else, that is the way it is with a lot of people, right or wrong. My suggestion is to make new…

Well that WAS a nice water bottle...Probably the style as much as the color. People are very picky about their bottles...I still haven't found one I am really happy with.
