I normal work out six days a week running or lifting. I let my body tell me when I need to take a rest day. I normal take mine on Sunday but there time that I need two days. Just remember that sleep is just as important as working out or a rest day. Sleep is where the body repairs itself.

Take baby steps. Exercise, eat cleanly, drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. Log everything you eat don't cheat, you are only cheating yourself when you do this. With a tough Mudder your mileage should be fine. The most you run between obstacles is a mile. Upper body strength is good thing to have and good team mates. There are obstacles that you will need help with but there is plenty of people that help out.
