I think just working on a few things as you have said is a great idea, also try to make what you are eating more exciting. I found I was so fed up eating the same thing, that I posted a topic on here to ask how to make my salads and vegetables more exciting, I got 19 replies and I am now trying the new ideas, its much…

You need to eat your calories, so you don't go into starvation mode, you need to look at your carbs and try to reduce them, also sugars, only eat good sugars e.g. found in fresh fruit. Watch things like low calorie yoghurts they are full of sugar. I try to eat low fat youghurts or just go for full fat. The more exercise…

Well done, I'm hoping I might have some similar results, I have my next blood test appointment on Monday, but won't find out results until Friday. Fingers crossed. I have tried really hard to stick with the diet and exercise and I have lost some weight, so I'm hoping I won't have to go on any medication. So pleased for…

Hi all, I do couch to 5K at the moment and I'm on week 4, so doing more running than walking now, I also do a zumba session once or twice a week. This has helped me loose 6lbs so far in the last three weeks. I know weight doesn't come off as easy when your diabetic or over 40, but all I keep thinking is at least it's…

Thanks, I really like the idea of adding beans to my salads and I haven't tried quinoa yet, but I have heard some good things about it from other diabetics. You have been a great help, thanks again. I'm feeling much more excited about my dinner today and lunch tomorrow.

All I can say is WOW!!! I am having a week of wanting to rebel and eat what I want, but you have given me the willpower to carry one and not cheat. I must admit I am doing a C25K and sometimes I come home with sore calfs, having run in the rain and wind and think I must be mad. But after reading your topic, I know I'm not…

I would say this week I have gone over 2 times, but I exercised a lot on one of my other days and was well under, so I think it cancelled them out. If you have gone over just try increasing your exercise on a couple of days and staying under calories then you will be fine. Funny thing is last week I went over calories…

Thanks for the advice, I will try next week bring back my running and see how I feel, then add in the zumba if I'm ok.

I am in my 40's and do a zumba class every Wednesday with my friend who is over 60, and we love it. I think if you keep at it you will get the hang of it. I really like it because to me its not exercise, its dancing so therefore I enjoy it more. I also find that if I hear the music sometimes when I'm out I want to start…

Try reducing the amount of carbs your eating and replace it with protein, this may help. Also this may help you eat more, I know everyone seems to be saying this but all the diets I've done before I've lost minimal weight but as soon as I reduce my carb intake and eat more protein and fat, I eat more and the weight comes…

Well done I think you should be proud of yourself, I remember the first week of C25K, im now on week four and running for five .inutes and the achievement is wonderful. I started just like you, so keep going and one day we will both be running for 30 mins.

Have you tried cropped jiggers, I wear them for running and they are great, not too tight to show anything you don't want and not too loose to fall down. Hope this helps

I'm going to weigh myself once a week, as I don't want to get too controlled by the scales, also I'm going to measure myself once a fortnight, because sometimes you don't loose much in weight but you could have lost an inch or so.
