  • I've experienced this in the past, and unfortunately never powered through. I just gave up. This time, I've decided that when I get to that point, I'm just going to dial it back. I always started out super strong and become a bit obsessed, and then began to peeter out over time. BUT this time, when I get to that point,…
  • Hey! Feel free to add me :) I'm 25, 5'6 about 145lbs, but I still have about 15 lbs and heaps of toning to do before I'm at my goal. I just started MFP a bit over a week ago, and I'm always on the look out for mutually suportive friendships! Also, I think you're my competition in the Summer Cal Crusher Challenge. Might be…
  • BMI! If you want to help them understand--and even let them know that you still want their support because you're not at your goal--you could sit them down and calculate your BMI. Tell them, "this is where I am, and THIS is where I want to be..." It might be a good visual tool to let them see what you're talking about, and…
  • I totally get sluggish and lazy when I take a rest day!! (One rest day has been known to spawn an extra, day-long, similar but slightly more evil rest day immediately thereafter.) I totally recommend doing something low-impact like walking (or if you're a hardcore runner/workout-er a light jog could be called "low-impact,"…
  • She means: "Yes," it's 180 celcius. (Aussies use celcius, fyi) Just looked up self-rising flour, and you can make an at home version: 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt Directions: 1 Combine all ingredients and use in place of self rising flour. 2 May double or triple if more is needed.…
  • Hey! I know there are a million comments here about all sorts of things, but I just quickly wanted to say that while goals are great and really important, it's even more important to be happy with whatever your outcome is, and not be discouraged if you don't hit the goal you were aiming for. We're all here hitting and…
  • HAHAHAHA!!! Thanks for the laugh! Where's the frosting.... hahaha... Few things say eating healthy quite like frosting does. ;) I'll have to keep my eye out for self-rising flour. :)
  • To all three, we're dividing the teams based on everyone's lifestyle (daily activity level), not weight/fitness level, so everyone's welcome. The point is to burn calories!! The more, the merrier I think.
  • Took a rest day yesterday, and did Day 4, Level 1 today. I've heard about a ton of injuries from 30DS, and having recovery days is the best way to avoid that (aside from doing the moves properly, of course). My shoulders are still the weakest things ever and my whole face scrunches when I do presses or lifts, haha, but I…
  • yep, but don't carry them over to the second week. (aka, if you underate on Wednesday and you're carrying these over, be sure to eat them up before next wed, or your body will not thank you! :)
  • I'm in!! How will you/we determine the teams? Maybe we could try to divy up the number of people who have sedentary --> active daily lifestyles (desk jobs, vs. bike messengers) between the groups so each team has a pretty good shot. :) Edit: And, I'm assuming we'll do it based on calories burned, not "unused" calories?…
  • I've been using 1.5L plastic bottles full of water because I don't have weights, and apparently they're 3.3 lbs! If you have any old bottles laying around... :)
  • HAHAHAHAAH!!! How quickly you pulled out a ken doll ;D hahah made my day. ..And I'm not a fan of seeing guys with their pants pulled down so low I can see their "gardens" while trying to show off their muscles, so I'd say I'm also not a fan. :)
  • This post just changed my life! haha. I've been stressing about my sugar levels, but after reading everyone's responses (no I don't have any NEED to watch my sugar levels (diabetes, etc.) and I consume VERY little sugar outside of fruits and veggies) so I just changed my "sugar" tracker to "iron." Super happy with that!…
  • Hey! You should take a look at some other posts (search "sugar"). I was just looking at "Fruit makes my sugar go well over" and there is TONS of info there. I was worried about my sugar levels because of the fruit and veggie amounts I eat, but since I don't have any conditions that require me to regulate my sugar, and I…
  • I'm taking two recovery days per week, to make sure my body has time to heal. It's not the best idea to work the same muscles everyday and since this works the whole body it's a good idea to let yourself recover! Today will be Day 3 Level1, and tomorrow I will take a recovery day. I plan on doin the Shred in about 38 days.…
  • Just finished Day 2 Level 1. (Girlie) pushups are okay, but the shoulder presses and lifts are BRUTAL for me. I'm using 1.5L bottles as weights. Can't wait for these to feel better!! haha. :D
  • For anyone interested, I'm planning on doing it over 38 or so days, so I can have two recovery days per week (muscles need it!). Something along the lines of every 4th and 7th day take a rest. I'm going to do lev 1 day 2 today. I'm planning on 10 workout days for each level, but I might re-think this closer to the end of…
  • Hey! I'm new to MFP and I've recently moved to a new country (new continent, new language) and I don't have a very big support system here yet. I'd LOVE to get some friendly, supportive friends to help each other out and stay motivated! Feel free to add me :)
  • Hey Marissa! I'm new to MFP too and I'm looking for some mutual support and friends. Feel free to add and lean on me. :)
  • I'm new too, and I'm having the same problem, I find by 9pm I'm still only half way through my 1200 calorie limit because I'm trying to steer away from anything with sugar?? Obviously this isn't working... why should I stay away from oranges and bananas?! (never apples because of all the FIBRE! haha.) I figure, as long as…
  • Chances are, your father calls you names because he is unhappy with himself. It's the bully-mentality. It's not how he truly thinks of you, but of himself instead, and that's what makes him angry. If losing weight isn't what you want/can do atm (I know about uni stress/blind eating!) you should really just focus on being…
  • Just did day 1 level 1! Apparently I have NO upper body strength whatsoever, I was definitely feelin it in the arms. haha. Also, I think I don't keep my core engaged/don't know how? Am I supposed to be, like, flexing the whole time, or just pulling inwards? I think I'm focusing on the rest of my body so much that I forget…
  • I'm totally in to start tomorrow! I love the fact that we have these awesome resources for free. So excited! I just joined MFP a cpl days ago and I can't believe how supportive everyone is. I've never joined a community like this but I've always thought the support would help me stay on track. Can't wait to look back in…
  • Hey everyone! I just joined MFP a cpl days ago, and I just came across this group. Clearly I've missed the boat on May, but will you be doing a June challenge as well? I'd love to join, it looks great!
