  • you are correct - artificial sweeteners are TERRIBLE For you!! avoid them as much as possible! i am convinced they played a HUGE part in the cancer that killed my mother 3 years ago. and yes, other posters - stevia is the way to go but make sure you get 100% stevia... not truvia or things like that --- they are chemically…

  • 38 yr old mom of 3 here. i have been on this site since january and just love it! i have referred many friends to it. most of them have had the same problem i have had --- tried to eat better to lose weight... but unless it is logged in someplace, it is soooo easy to get off track. i tried a journal on paper but found that…
  • what you have written sounds good. there are healthy vegetarians and there are overweigt vegetarians. i am a vegan, actually, but needed this web site to get my eating under control. it is easy to eat an unhealthy vegetarian/vegan diet. thru MFP and other research, books, etc, i have moved over to more and more raw and…

  • Interesting points. The whining of my starving children (who are saying 'no' to the carrots or grapes I am offering them this close to dinner) is keeping me from reading the whole thing right now but I will soon! I still won't cook in bacon grease... but a BIG part of that is due to me being a vegan! haha!! :o) Thanks for…
  • What is PUFA and what is wrong w/ it? I find it hard to believe that cooking with bacon fat is better than canola oil...
  • don't give in and have the caffeine... once you get past this, you will feel so much better. You can see now that caffeine is a drug and clearly not good for you!! drink lots of water... this will pass... good luck! caffeine free since July 2007!!!
  • I am hovering right above that and CANNOT WAIT to join you!!! Congrats & keep it up!!! :o)

  • I have a trampoline ... it came w/ videos but i never looked at them... I just bounce on it! I do NOT use the balance bar that came with it... i just didn't install it. I have pretty good balance so I didn't think I needed to have a crutch. While my hubby is on the treadmill, I will do jumping jacks, twists, etc and chat…
  • Don't give up. By eating healthy and exercising more, you have made a healthy lifestyle change. Don't give up on that. I am NO expert, but I quickly looked at your diary for the last week or so and I see that your fat and sodium levels are high. Try working on that. Too much sodium will make you retain water which could be…
  • i know what you mean... while i appreciate what the parents do during teacher appreciation week, i get LOTS of chocolate and baked goods... VERY hard to resist!! again, however, this is where my nut allergy comes in handy... a lot of that stuff has nuts or is processed on shared equipment so i pass it along to my family...…
  • unfortunately, i have never learned to properly swim... i can hold my own out there in a pool, but don't know any proper strokes... that is a good idea, however... maybe I can take lessons for dummies!! do they even teach 38 yr olds how to swim?!?! haha! my kids are swimmers, though, so at least I made sure they were taken…
  • yeah - it sounds like you will be a vegan for a while without any grains... 3 days is fine ... some people do it as a permanent lifestyle change... make sure you have variety so you won't break down and grab a girl scout cookie!! a yummy salad could include jicama, shredded sweet potato, and lots of other yummy things...…
  • grapes... not a veggie! :o)
  • YES!! Discover card (showing that that particular family uses their bonus dollars to buy food for their boys)... we use that quote ALL THE TIME and I love it!! Sometimes people look at us like we have three heads, but I love it! We have a son who is 8... weighs all of 45-50 lbs... but eats EVERYTHING in sight... that…
  • i get measured every 4 weeks at Curves by the same woman who measures at the exact same spot every time. of course, she is leaving at the end of May so we will see how it changes when someone else starts. but consistency is the key. and having someone else do it is better, too, if you can swing it. the first month (before…
  • Your goal should be to eat however many calories MFP says and to make them ALL healthy ones!! Not sure why you wouldn't count any calories...especially the excellent ones! Calories are calories, like others have said... but certainly count them... and strive for more!! Try to avoid as much of the processed crap ... i mean…
  • I have a pair of sneakers like that - I bought them at Curves and they were only $50... I LOVE them... I can feel it when walking but don't know if it really makes a difference... but like I said, mine were only $50 and they are sneakers not flip flops... so not sure if that helps! :o) I know Payless had some knock offs as…

  • http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp I use this one a lot to determine calories... it also gives a TON of additional nutritional information...
  • i see you checked out the daily plate... the Red Robin menu HAS nutritional information... if you select the item you are looking at, and choose 'customize' it will allow you to see what effect any changes you make to the menu item will have on the calorie information... it is really quite cool... i love it!
