And its the difference between an insult and a compliment. I think you do get it.

A few others have mentioned this too. They say it evens out eventually. Its progress.
Concrete < asphalt < dirt < grass.
This. This is why runners are often in the road not on the sidewalk.

I like dogs. I have one. But when I'm running and one starts chasing me and barking it really scares me. Dog attacks can land you in the hospital and end your running days. Its not at all like a little kid poking your dog in the eye. We have one in our neighborhood that does this ALL the time. Owners let it out no leash…

Its really important for runners to have core and glute muscle strength. Those that don't get hurt all the time. Google "Iron Strength Workout" its a video. Strength training for runners by a sports medicine doctor.

Thanks for that link. I'm thinking most folks have inaccurate belief of what their body fat percentage really is.
-
This exactly. I'm surprised how many folks don't get this.
-
You look fantastic! Healthy, slim just really good.

Personally I don't eat anything with fat in in before a race. It slows me way down. Simple carbs. Toast & banana. Light no more than 250 calories for me. Anything more than that slows me down. Try to eat at least an hour to an hour and a half before the race.

There are many, many studies that show that exercise can relieve depression, even major depression. Google "exercise and depression". Click on the one from Harvard Medical School. The meds didn't cure you so why not try something else?

Its your opinion that matters. If you think you would feel better down another 10 pounds go for it. Does he think "caring about his opinion" means you should aim for what he thinks you should do instead of what you think you should do? That said focusing on strength and fitness instead of the scale can feel very…

Your activity level should be set to what you are doing when you are NOT working out. Desk job=sedentary. Construction laborer = active. ect. BUT then you log your workouts and MFP makes the adjustments for that day. I work out about 5 hours a week doing weight lifting and running (which I log) but set my activity level as…

You are amazing! I am sure you will be successful you've overcome so much already. You are my new inspiration. If you can do this I can too. Thanks for posting.

There is plenty science and plenty of studies out there to back up the low carb approach. The idea is that its NOT just calories in calories burned that its actually more complex ... But most folks don't do new information because they made up their mind a long time ago. Calorie counting also works just for the record.
-
This. I've done WW and MFP. They are basically the same - counting points or counting calories except MFP is free.

I've been a runner for 16 years. The times when I have felt the runners high are times when I'm very fit, very strong and able to go the distance meaning I can run at least 10 mile runs. I'm not always in that condition. Its a feeling like you could run forever, fairly effortlessly and almost like you could be airborne any…

Its called being out of shape aerobically. If you try to run and you aren't aerobically fit it will be hard to breathe. The good news is you can overcome it with perseverance.
-
This. From WebMD " a review of 44 studies showed no evidence that birth control pills caused weight gain in most users."
-
Kevin That's not a lot of running so that's not the problem. You've run much better and further before. This does not sound like a training issue to me. It sounds like a medical issue. I never ever see the doctor. Never until one day my running got so bad I couldn't run 1/2 mile and I'm a long time runner who can go the…

You're fine. If you need to do them against the kitchen counter for now then do that. Some folks need to do them against a wall. Planks use different muscles. Just keep at it. I'm doing modified push-ups myself but slowly improving.

I used to be really poor too so I can relate. Trust me its do-able. Plan your meals using the flyer of the cheapest store around. Things to stay away from at almost any price: pre-made package food and beverages other than milk cause you just don't need them, no desserts, chips no soda <See how its naturally healthy to be…

I think you will find you can lose that weight pretty quickly. Newly gained weight is easier to lose for some reason. Also I don't know how you can think of yourself and a failure when your plan was so successful until the recent mess up. You can reverse this in short order.
-
This. If you set your activity level as active than you can't also subtract calories burned for being active.

Muggsy Bogues 5'3" NBA basketball player looks pretty ripped to me. Pernell Whitaker 5'6" Boxer and Olympian obviously ripped. Bruce Lee 5'7" I think he can pretty much take on anyone. Don't let your physical size get in the way of your goals. There are plenty of elite athletes who are short.

I just calculated the chocolate chip cookie. Its 461 calories for ONE cookie. I'm sure its good but that's not something I'd do.

This really is not a good place for running injury advice. Try Runners World and use their search feature a bit. They have a very good sports doctor, Dr. Metzl, who answers a lot of questions. You will get details on correct diagnosis, prevention, and ways to treat different injuries often times with video links to…

I can tell you that runners can injure themselves just by running on roads that are sloped to one side or the other. I'm thinking a shorter leg would cause the same effect. I'd trust the folks at a running store (or a sports medicine doctor) before I'd trust a regular general practice doctor.

Maybe get tested for thyroid issues. Its not all about calories in calories out. Sometimes there is more to it.
-
Ha that's funny. Totally did not see that.

OP folks are getting awfully worked up about their opinion on the headphones thing. At race day its highly unlikely anyone will say anything either way. Run and let run.
