  • My passport is American, but my heart is British. I'm not patriotic at all (which doesn't get me a lot of friends, living in a military town), and my sensibilities tend to lean more towards socialist democracies, like in much of Europe. If I could live in England again, or in Scandinavia, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I fully…
  • Oh man...I can't even imagine. I'm just so glad no one was hurt very badly, and that it happened in a less-populated area. I can't even imagine how much commuting would suck if that had been in Everett or Seattle. Still, it must be a pain in the *kitten* to have to go through town to get around the river.
  • I pretty much know every backroad of King and Snohomish counties. I technically grew up in Kirkland, but my family is from Snohomish/Everett/Monroe, and I have also lived/worked in various areas of Seattle. I've lived in Bremerton now for almost two years, and I miss the city so much it hurts, but I'm learning to love…
  • Oh awesome, I'll check that out. Thanks!
  • What are they?
  • That I wont actually lose weight. I've been at this for a month and no progress, on the scale or the measuring tape, and my clothes aren't fitting any looser either. I'm terrified that I'll just always be fat. :(
  • Yeah, I need to get one of those. But I'm a poor unemployed college student, so I'll have to wait till I get some more monies. But that's probably my best bet, if I want an accurate count, I guess. Thanks for the advice!

  • This. I know it sucks to be rejected, but seriously, you are stunning and young, and you should enjoy dating for a while. It's fun.
  • I'm gonna be spending all weekend doing various fun things with friends and family. There will be food and alcohol. I'm not gonna worry. I can still make the most healthy choices with what's presented or available, and I still have control over my portion sizes, and I'll be working out as well. My time with loved ones is…
  • If his body isn't responding to a plant based diet, then maybe that isn't the best idea for him. Although it is possible that he's not getting enough healthy fats and proteins. Try incorporating new foods into your diet like eggplant, chickpeas, and avocados if they aren't already there. There are lots of healthy sources…
  • Awesome, I will definitely try this! I've taken some zumba classes when I was still going to the Y, but I always feel awkward like I'm just kind of jumping and flailing around cause I don't really know the moves, and I'm also really uncoordinated. So doing it at home will definitely be more comfortable and less…
  • Hmm...ok. It looks like calisthenics burn the same amount of calories for the length of my workout today (I did both the pure cardio and the cardio recovery), so I just logged it all as circuit training anyway. I'm not sure how accurate the calorie burn amounts are in the MFP exercise diary thingie.
  • The Brits have apple crumble with custard, which is wayyy better than apple pie in my opinion. :)
  • I always get hungry after swimming too, and I crave rootbeer. I realized it's cause when I was a kid, my dad would always buy rootbeer after I was done swimming at the local pool. It's weird too because I don't even really like rootbeer, or any sodas.
  • I usually only drink with a certain group of friends, and I happen to have plans with them like three or four times in the next week, so I foresee a lot of drinking coming up. But it only takes a couple glasses of whatever we're having to get me tipsy. But after that I'll probably go two or three weeks without drinking…

  • Um, yeah. I run into walls all the freaking time, and trip over nothing on the floor. Last weekend I sliced off the end of my thumb with a mandolin when I was cutting veggies for dinner. I'm constantly finding bruises and I have no idea how I got them.
  • I also have issues with my mom. I can't imagine how painful it must feel to have your mother treat you like that, and my heart is sad for you. I think a lot of people here have already given great advice...sometimes you have to just let her go. Just because she managed to give birth to you, does not mean that she in any…
  • So awesome! You must be feeling so great right now!
  • Inappropriate? I'm new here....are there like morality police in the forums or something?
  • You are awesome for recovering so well, it seems like you've got a good grasp on things now. I don't know a *whole* lot about eating disorders, but my husband is in grad school for mental health counseling, and he talks to me about what he's learning, so I know that it is in fact a mental illness. It's not just someone who…
  • OMG this seriously made me spit my coffee. I'm gonna keep that dalek gif for the future. I don't know why, but I find daleks to be really adorable, and not scary at all. Like, I kind of just want to pet them. So this gif totally made my day.
  • I've never been attracted to guys who wax and pluck and manicure. I've also never been attracted to muscley 'gym guys', or like sporty guys....it's just not my thing. When I was dating (I'm happily married now to a nice man with an epic beard), my rule was that guys I dated had to "be clean, but look dirty". Hygiene is…
  • Yup! Feel free to add me! I'm in week 4 of Insanity (though I admit, I didn't actually work out yesterday....I kind of sat around and did absolutely nothing). But today I'm getting back on track. It's pretty hard to start the workout, and there are some of the exercises I have to modify for my own ability level, but I…
  • That was incredible. I'm just gonna link this video, which is the most amazing video in history. You'll have to watch it a couple of times to truly catch all of the epicness in it. (might have to copy and paste, I'm not really sure how to link things here) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4hhWiqS7K4 And here is also…
  • Come back! Washington misses you! Where are you now?
  • Oh where are you? I grew up on the east side and Snohomish County, but have lived in Belltown, Ballard, and Alki for the last several years. About a year and a half ago we bought a house in Bremerton, so now we're trying to get acclimated to the rural life of Kitsap.
  • Yay! Glad you joined us! My favourite companion is Donna, no question.
