If you like yogurt that isn't too sweet, try to find Siggi's. It's an Icelandic style yogurt similar to Greek, but lower in calories and fat. It comes in a few different flavors, but they are all sweetened using Agave nectar. I believe that a 6oz container has 140 calories, 12g carbs and 0g fat.

I agree! After months of eating a low fat, lean protein diet, whenever I slip up I totally feel it in a BAD, BAD way. When you think about it, this totally makes sense: our bodies were designed to digest healthy, natural food. Not all the processed, fatty stuff that we've become so used to eating. So once we start healing…

It's definitely a good idea to exercise on a cheat day, especially 1/2 hour or so after eating a 'bad' meal, so that your body can use some of the extra carbs right away. I find that writing down what I eat for a cheat meal helps me see where I can improve my habits. It's a real eye-opener when you start to think that you…

funny, I don't usually eat cereal for breakfast because it always leaves me hungry an hour later. But lately I've been really lazy about breakfast and at the store yesterday I decided to stock some cereal for those particular mornings when oatmeal seems too difficult. So... I found Kashi Go Lean Crunch Honey Almond Flax.…

Hi! I'm 23 and I'm looking to lose 20-25 more pounds (it's more about a feeling than a number for me). I could definitely use more support and motivation along the way!

I love to start my day with oatmeal. It's not the lowest in calories (especially because I like to add a tablespoon of peanut butter and a tiny bit of brown sugar in the bowl), but it really sustains the body and sets a good tone for the whole day. I really believe in pairing complex carbs with healthy proteins, so I add…

are you fueling and refueling your body pre- and post- workout? you should be eating good complex carbs before your workout to give your body energy, and afterwards refuel with a good source of healthy protein. I personally bring a protein shake along with me to the gym so that I know I'll be able to consume good protein…

it's just a different strain of yogurt which makes it a lot thicker and creamier than typical yogurt. It can also be a lot higher in fat, so look for low-fat versions. It can be difficult to find at local supermarkets, so if you can't find it at your usual store try looking at a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

I found a brand called "Siggi's" at Whole Foods. It's Icelandic-style yogurt, which is a bit more like Greek yogurt than what most people are used to. It's very low in sugar and carbs but high in protein. It's much thicker than typical yogurt because it's strained multiple times, so there is almost no water left. And there…

The best thing to do is not to beat yourself up about it and not to throw the rest of the day out the window. Get out and do some cardio (because it's not a good idea to let all the carbs that your fast food most likely had just sit in your body--it's energy, take advantage of it) and continue your day as you would before.…

The trainers at my gym say that you should do weights before the cardio. I don't remember why, but I'm sure they know what they'll taking about.

I was actually wondering the same about protein powder in hot chocolate a few nights ago. I regularly mix it into my oatmeal, but wasn't sure if it would be any good with the milk. Now I might give it a try... As for brands of protein powder, I've tried a few different ones. Muscle Milk Light tastes good, but if you're…

The first place you gain weight is the last place you'll lose it. At least that's what I hear from my hardcore fitness friends. Keep up those ab reps, because they'll give you the toned look you want once the fat goes away. And don't consume a lot of artificial sweeteners.

I've been working with a trainer for the last 6 months and have gone from 1500 to 1200 calories slowly throughout that time. Never has he told me that I should add the calories I've burned off to my daily allotment. I've lost 30 pounds without doing so. To me, it seems counter-productive; I'd almost rather not work out and…

A 12 foot sandwich is a whole lot of bread. That's where most of the calories are coming from, as well as the cheese that I believe is included on that sandwich. A good idea is to ask them to take the inside filling of the bread out so you aren't eating as much and, if you can, leave off the cheese.

bananas are good because the sugar that they contain is easily converted by our bodies into enegry. A low-sugar granola bar would be a good idea, or a handful of granola with low-fat yogurt. Whole wheat crackers and low-fat cheese Essentially, complex carbs are going to give you the most energy 'bang' for your caloric…

Glad to hear your first week has been good! As for your concern about restaurant food... It's a reasonable one, for sure. Most restaurant entrees are twice the size of what a recommended serving would be, so getting a to-go box right off the bat is a good idea. If you have a calorie book, bring it along: it'll give you a…
