I'll start this off by saying when I first started MFP a little over 1 week ago I was 220 overweight. While I am just starting on the weight loss part of my new life, I have spent 5 years working my way through binge eating disorder, some of the time with doctors and therapists, most of the time working on my own…

You look beautiful! Congratulations on your hard work!!!

You're doing SO awesome! Don't be so hard on yourself and keep pushing through! You're rocking it. Depending on where you are in africa, you could have one of those water/fat monitoring scales sent to you (they're about 65 bucks US.)They give you an acurate measure of fat percentage and you can also monitor the fat coming…

I wasn't saying that restless sleep burns fat, I was saying that since I have started burning fat by working out/changing my eating, I have become quite restless :)

RavenKellie, I'm in Toronto and we have them in our korean super markets; I'd be surprised if you couldn't find them in Ottawa :)

Hi debomommyforh, I have struggled with binge eating for most of my life and have had the opportunity to work with some really great doctors who have helped me to become incredibly mindful of where I go in my head while binging. As I look back now at the struggle I had, I know that I went in waves of denying myself…

It does sound like your gaining muscle, so if you have an extra 60 or so dollars, you could get one of those scales that measures water and fat; that way you could know how much you're losing and if the weight you are gaining is fat or muscle :)

I work from home, so most days are like the weekend for me, where I don't have to stick to a certain time structure. Try planning your weekend in blocks of time that will keep you busy and out of the kitchen. If you want to hang out at home and relax for the day, start each morning by preparing your meals and snacks for…

Hey All, Thank you SO MUCH! I looked at my daily intake of iron and potassium and both are down; which are both associated with restless leg syndrome. I usually take an iron and magnesium as supplements, but haven't been too good about taking my vitamins and making a point of eating banana for the potassium. Thank you…

I grew up in a house of disordered eating. My Dad is bulimic and my Mom is a sugar addict/binge eater who hides food and puts the entire family on extreme diets. When I was 11 I became a vegetarian in an effort to control the foods I was eating and reject their food, but it turned out that I made a 12 year commitment that…

@ recoiljpr - Thank You :) @needamulligan - I don't think it's exercising too close to bed, but I might just be getting a boost of energy instead of feeling sluggish; something I'm not too used to. I can tell that my body is tired and I want to be sleeping, but another part of me is like, "Heck no! Let's get up and move!!"…

Am I the only one experiencing this??

I like http://allrecipes.com/recipes/healthy-recipes/ because you can key in the foods that you have in your fridge and recipes will pop up that contain them. It's great for getting a little creative with stuff that needs to get used. You don't have to eat all veggies though; let yourself have the foods you want and just…

There are a few reasons people say not to night, but if they don't bother you then it's not really an issue. The don't eat at night rule has been spread and misinterpreted. Generally by that time of day, the average person is at their calorie max and any additional eating is likely to be over. If your tracking your…

I forgot to add that I also make sure my vitamins are all in check and that I take them every day. You can be tested for vitamin deficiencies with your GP or a nutritionist. I find that on the days that I do take my vitamins (B12, D, Iron, Magnesium, Salmon Oil, Calcium, and Vitamin C (but these wont be the same for…

I think it took getting close to my 30s for me to feel like I am in a place where I can really do this. I'm much more mature now, am in charge of all of the food that comes into my home, and I'm finally smart enough to know that if I don't make a change now, it's only going to me more difficult for me down the line as I…

You look amazing! Congratulations! For someone who is just starting out and has a lot of weight to lose, you have really inspired me! Thank you so much for sharing this; you look so young and healthy and that is something that I want for myself too! Thank you for your words!!

I've only been using MFP for about a week, but I've been dealing with binge eating disorder my whole life and in the past 2 years, have discovered some great tools to stop binging. I've managed to stop binging all together, so hope that some of these tools also help you :) Here are a few things that have helped me along my…

Thank you so mush for sharing this post. It's very helpful for me to know that you have had so much success and have still had days where you eat things you probably wouldn't on good days. You're really inspiring! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for posting this! I am just getting back to MFP and am also looking to meet new friends who want to lose a lot of weight. My goal is to lose 220 lbs in a way that I can love and honour my body instead of doing the fad diets where I drop a ton of weight quickly but cannot sustain the weight loss. Looking…
