Check out FoodAddicts.org It is a strict eating plan that will help to free your mind and body from the obsession and addiction to food. OA s for Over Eaters while FA is for Food Addicts :)

Food Addiction is absolutely real and like every other addiction, is a disease of the mind and body. Alcoholics don't simply "enjoy alcohol" and can't stop by willing their desire away. When they have one drink, their brain is sent a signal that says, "GIVE ME MORE!" There is also the mental component where alcoholics have…

Hey! I've lived most of my life with a similar struggle. Exercising for hours at a time just so I could eat a certain food or try to "undo" what I had eaten, only to remain obsessed about food in my mind. I didnt realize until joining the program and becoming abstinent how crazy my mind was and how much I thought about…

I'd just like to add that now that I know more about the program, I've learned that we aren't suppose to weigh ourselves other than once a month, so I stopped keeping track, but my clothes are getting bigger on me!

I stopped hating myself for every poor food choice I made and let go of excuses. *If I decide to have candy/something unhealthy, I eat it and think, "you're doing this now, enjoy it, and adjust your calories to compensate tomorrow/this week/whatever." I don't beat myself up for the decision. *I remind myself that if I…

@Tequila09, I was floored by how many "normal" sized people there were. There were about 4-5 of us who were obese, about 5 who were "normal" size, some who had a few extra or a few less lbs, and 3 that were really thin. It was a group of really warm people. It was a bit dreary; lighting, weather; the feeling of "struggle"…

Thank you guys so much for your responses @RosaliaMarie Thank you for your message! From what I have learned, OA isn't about diets or weight loss, but finding a healthy lifestyle free from compulsive eating, so for some, that might mean no weight loss takes place, but that the compulsion to binge or overeat is instead…

I was a vegetarian for 12 years and had an iron deficiency because of it, despite eating rally well and making good choices. I've struggled with binge eating disorder for almost my entire life and have tried diet after diet only to have things work for a while, allow me to drop 30 lbs, and then I fall back into old habits. There was at time in my life where I used calorie counting in an obsessive way, using the calories to log the smallest…

There are some weeks that I "cheat" every day and others where I will only have 1 treat in a week. If I am going to have something that might put me over my calories, I make sure that I have a big enough deficit in advance to offset however many calories a treat might have. I have found that when I limit it to 1 day/meal,…
