  • Oatmeal - sadly the factory processing that makes instant oatmeal "instant" also flushes a lot of the nutritional value out of it. They become high-GI, meaning that they convert to sugar more quickly than regular oats. And there are all sorts of additives in instant oatmeal - scary numbers of them, depending on the brand.…

  • I'm avoiding high glycemic index carbs unless I need them, for example, when I'm out on an all-day bike ride need a constant supply of energy for the hills. So bread, white rice, potatoes are out. I love 'em too. But until I reach my goal then they're pretty much off the menu.
  • As they've said above - take it one day at a time. You've made a fantastic step forward by joining MFP and opening up. Now... don't lose sight of your goal. Ever.
  • Could you explain more, please? I'm still confused about this. If I eat healthily (which I'm doing for the first time ever), exercise well, and end up with a big calorie deficit, how is that bad? If I were HUNGRY I'd understand, but I actually feel really good.
