Hi Heybales, thanks for replying, my TDEE of 1942 is based on me putting my activity level at sedentary.. is that wrong? My HRM is a polar FT7..pretty basic. So not sure what the VO2 thing you mention is. For example this morning I did a step aerobic class, and I burned around 540 calories according to HRM, I deducted 80…

Hi everyone I just discovered this eat more to weigh less method and I am super excited! I have lost 22kg/48lbs in 10 months, by sticking to a 1390cal intake and exercising, usually eating back some or all of my calories. With this my net intake would generally end up being around the 1100-1300 per day. I workout 6 days a…

my initial maintenance calories was around 2100 and it's gone down to about 1900. Thanks guys for advice. I might experiment with various things for the next few weeks... see how it goes. :)

yup I weigh food and yup I log everything religiously. I have a polar FT7 heart rate monitor to track my calories burned during exercising. Will try to aim for 1500 net ... i'm possibly just being paranoid / inpatient, but thought it might be time to re-evaluate food goals considering how much things have changed since the…

Thanks! In theory it seems silly that my "net" calories are still the same now when I am so active, vs when I did nothing. the MFP deficit alone should be enough to lose weight, even without exercise, so one would think if you kept to that mfp goal with the deficit built in, and exercised, and didn't eat all of it back I'd…

At first I didn't eat them back. I got a heart rate monitor so I could accurately track how much I was burning each work out, because if i'm going to eat it back, i need to know how much I've actually used up, rather than guestimating :) Since I've gotten fitter and exercise more (i workout every day now, and more intense…

Thanks guys :) Awesome selection there :) I personally am looking for workout clothing but thought this would be a great topic for everyone :) cheers!

I have a polar HRM as well and to be honest I never listened to any of those beeps and now its turned off. I listened to my body, and if I felt completely and utterly exhausted or unwell, I'd stop and catch my breath. During cardio and especially in earlier stages of me getting into regular fitness training, my heart rate…

I still drink it occasionally (coke zero) just coz I love it so much, and I do find that I get more bloated and water retentiony afterwards. I find that with anything Fizzy I have though.. I will probably have diet soda drinks around 4 times a week to satisfy those tastebuds :P

Exactly this! I think weighing food and knowing exactly how much you are consuming is kind of empowering in a way? I too realised just how much I overate in the past. It's ok to guestimate, especially once you've learned what a 'normal serving' looks like. It's just habit for me now and has been for 10 months and I…

I realised when I started that trying to do it too fast means a very low allowance set by MFP ...and the idea is not to go into starvation mode. Its a lot better to go slower..it doesn't have to be that much slower! I manually set my MFP goals to lose about 1.3lbs per week, with 5 x 200 calorie loss exercise session which…

Add me too :)

I always use the base ingredient and then add other stuff that I've cooked it with separately. E.g. if I add milk to scrambled eggs, I will add that as its own entry. If i add oil, I put it as a separate entry. I also try to use the figures given by a food board, for e.g. in New zealand a lot of the foods are listed in the…

My initial goal was to lose 30kg...im just over half way there... can i still join? If so, i'd love to! EszterNZ

I'm in the same boat..the work christmas functions are brutal.. I feel really guilty when I've gone over several times in recent weeks, but all you can do is your best to counteract it by exercising a decent amount. As long as my 'weekly' calories arent toooo much over, I think overall it should be fine and not ruin all of…

I find this one tough too.. I exercise every day, even if its just a brisk walk, or something more intense, but I've left my activity level at the lowest one (desk job).. I figure that's probably the safer option than over estimating my activity levels.

Polar FT7..love it. And because its the version up from the basic, I also bought a fairly cheap polar flowlink , which basically means you can pop your watch on it, and it uploads all of your exercise data onto the polar website so you can keep track of all workouts (rather than just the 99 it allows on the watch). Hubby…

My dinners are usually what I have for lunch - which is generally lean chicken or other meat. I usually have between 100-130 grams of cooked meat per serving. I then add this to either half a cup of cooked rice or cous cous, heaps of baby spinach, cherry tomatos..whatever other vegetables I have lying around, and sometimes…

Bump! I am a fellow NZer ....anyone else out there? Feel free to add me, I'd love to expand the good ol network :)

Agree with the others. My daily allowance has be 1360 for the last 4 months and i've never had an issue with being hungry. I have cut out nuts (or if i have some, it will be a small amount), no cheese as I found it really didnt make that much difference to the taste of things, I've switched to trim/low fat milk, low fat…

Hey I found that runtastic pro doesnt handle "walking" very well. Even when I walked for an hour, it gave me the same calories as if I did 30mins. Try endomondo.. I use that and its always more realistic. Making sure the GPS works correctly is good too :)

Hi Guys So I was 233 pounds at the start of my journey, which was around April this year I think. I have been battling with my weight since I was 15, I am now 27. I've been around the 233 pounds for about the last 7 years. Here are my before pics, taken in December 2012 and January 2013. In the last 5-6 months, I have lost…

I was just playing with this too and when you log onto the runtastic website - no matter what amount of Kms/miles you put in, the calories are calculated on the time I put in. For 40mins walking its giving me 248 calories, regardless of whether I have done 5, 7, or 10km. Which seems raelly wrong to me. GPS is going for a…

I'm going to join this club. I am 27yrs old, from New Zealand. Height: 5'3 CW: 103.4kgs / 228lb My first goal is to get to 187lb (85kg).. and then hopefully keep going down to somewhere around the 140lb range. I have been struggling with my weight since I was a teenager, and have not been under the 200lb range for at least…

I had Mirena for 5 years, and struggled to lose weight while I had it. I floated around the 105kg/210lb weight range plus or minus a few, for the entire 5 years, despite several attempts to lose. I had it taken out in December 2012, and I've started losing weight for the first time in 5 years, with only 3 weeks on MFP. I…
