Obviously, I'm not sure about your specific running club, but I know that in my local Running Club that I've done races and "fun-runs" with, everyone is super friendly and nice, and while some people are really hard core (ultrarunners and such), some of them are also just average runners, and they are all really nice and…

You can totally do it!! And definitely sign up for that 5K! It will give you something to work towards, and if you really aren't ready by then, tons of people walk 5K's - no need to worry about that (of course, I encourage you to still try and run the whole thing if you can!). I never did C25K, but I did start running for…

I'm 5'-6.5" and 125 lbs (after losing 45 lbs). According to BMI, I believe the healthy weight range for 5'-6" is 115-155, so it's a pretty large range. I was at 140 for a long time until I started running, which made me to want to lose more (to work on my speed). It was a lot of work to drop those additional 15 lbs, but I…

danagolding - Cinderella!

I'm ALMOST 5'-7" - does that count? (hehe, I'm just over 5'-6.5"). I weigh 125 and am (for the first time EVER in my life) a size 2 in pants (still seems wierd - I don't think I look skinny enough to wear a size 2), and a XS-M in shirts depending on where they're coming from, but probably a S on average. I've had a couple…

As long as I'm outside (and not on a Treadmill), I don't need music. I used to always listen to it, simply because I had my iphone with me already, to use MapMyRun. But once I invested in a Garmin Watch, and didn't need the bulky arm band, I stopped bringing it. It's kind of nice to just listen to the surroundings and…

Me!! Running the WDW Marathon for my first marathon!! I seriously can't wait! I wish it was sooner!

Honestly, I lost 45 lbs and reached my goal weight without paying too much attention to sodium. I work full time with a commute to another city, so I don't have a lot of time to prepare fresh meals - therefore I do eat a lot of frozen meals & lunch meat, which are crazy high in sodium. I have heard for some people it can…

For some reason people think it's okay to comment on your weight if you're thin/fit....and yet it's not okay to say anything when you're overweight?? I don't get it, and yet is happens all the time! I think people (especially overweight people - b/c I was the same way 45 lbs ago), have a distorted view on what "healthy"…

Unless running completely changes their outlook on life! Running makes me want to workout all the time (and not just running - I hike, spin, & do light weight training), eat better, and even be a better person...Running is AWESOME!!!
-
How much weight have you lost with running? I've lost 15 lbs since I started running, however I also had to count my calories! I had already been running about 6 months and not tracking calories, and wasn't losing anything. Once I started logging what I ate, and eating healthy things (as prep for my first Half Marathon), I…

Will definitely be sending you a friend request! I feel in love with running last summer and have since ran 2, 5K's, an 8K, a 10K, a 6 Mile Ascent run, a Half Marathon, and a 25K Trail Race! I'm currently training for a 17.1 Mile Mountain Race called Imogene Pass Run on September 7th. It goes from Ouray, Colorado (7,810…

Same as the above poster! Find a good training plan - I used Hal Higdon's but modified it to fit with other classes (spin etc) I was doing. If you're not running a lot now, you've got plenty of time - the main thing is to do one long run per week and slowly increase the length each week (by about a mile) until you get to…

I do a little of both, but recently took 2 months off without a gym, just to see if I could get by (I didn't want to spend the money renewing my membership). However, what I found is that for those 2 months, I still kept up with my running (I love to run), but I did barely any strength training or cross training. I just…

Congrats, you look great! I had a similar story - I lost 30 lbs in the 4 months leading up to my wedding! I had to have my dress taken in twice! There's nothing like wanting to look good on your wedding day to motivate you to lose weight, right? (EDIT to add - I didn't see the above posters same comment! Haha)

When I started spending my money on race registrations, running shoes, and a Garmin watch/HRM instead of on regular clothes! Now regular shopping is a "chore" that I have to do because I don't have anything that fits me...ugh..just wish I could wear workout clothes to work, I've got plenty of those!

Love it! How tall are you again? I know you pointed it out a few weeks ago - but yes we do have similar stories (as far as Starting Weight and Goal Weight)!
-
How long have you been running? ~1 year (my first 5K was last July - I have since done a Half Marathon and a 25K) How many days a week do you run? 5-6 days/week How many miles/how long(one hour, etc) do you run? Depends on the day, this is my typical schedule when i don't have any races coming up: Monday - 3 easy miles or…

As another said, just slow down! You need to go slow in order to build up your endurance. After you've been running awhile like that, then you can start working on speed. Run at a pace where you could carry on a conversation with someone.

MAY WEEK 1: 29.72 MAY WEEK 2: 36.85 MAY WEEK 3: 37.51 MAY WEEK 4: (my mileage was a bit low this week because I was tapering for my trail race on the 27th!) 5/21 - 3.22 5/23 - 6.85 5/25 - 5.12 WTD - 15.19 MAY WEEK 5 (so far): 5/27 - 16.84 - Sage Burner 25K Trail Race (according to my Garmin it ended up being quite a bit…

I always just tell people what the healthy weight range is according to BMI, and how to relates to my goals. For example, "According to the BMI, I can still lose another 15 lbs and be at a healthy weight range for my height." A lot of people don't realize what a healthy weight looks like. If you have something to back it…

DO IT! I'm completely serious when I say, signing up for my first 5K last summer, literally changed my life!!! I'm a crazy running freak now, and I LOVE it! I actually look forward to when I can go running next. Since my first 5K (in July 2012), I've ran tons of races, including a half marathon and a 25K (15.5 miles), and…

15 Miles a few weekends ago. I have a hard time accepting that it is okay to walk...I somehow feel like I'm cheating, but the more I talk to hardcore runners(marathon and ultra-marathoners), they all say that they've walked at times...especially when trail running...so I'm trying to accept that it's okay!

Unfortunately you can not spot reduce fat....you can tone the muscles underneath it, but you have to excercise and eat healthy to lose the fat that's on top of those abs! That being said, I'm at the thinnest i've been my entire adult life, at 125 lbs (5'-6"), and my pudgy stomach is still a problem for me. It 's my one…

I first got contacts when I was around 13 I think, and wore them every day until last year (I'm 25 now - so 10+ years), when I switched back to glasses due to cost (my insurance no longer covers anything, and I can get by on a pair of glasses for several years - whereas you have to get a new eye exam every year in order to…

Haha, this post makes me laugh...if it weren't for my husband, I wouldn't know what half of these gifs were...haha but he's gotten me hooked on a few Sci-Fi shows - I loved Firefly and Battlestar Galactica... :) BUT Harry Potter is ALWAYS #1 in my book (which I can't seem to get my husband hooked on though - no matter how…

I'm no expert (at all - never did track or anything), but here's some things I've been doing, and it's seemed to help! 1. Treadmill Intervals - 2 minutes at a moderate pace, 1 minute at a fast pace and repeat (for me, it would set the TM at about 6.2-6.5 mph for my moderate pace, and then 7.0-7.5 for my fast pace. (This is…

I'm not much of a veggie eater either (and don't even get me started on my husband). But I've been trying really hard to increase my veggie consumption. Here are a few ideas: Replace regular ranch with "greek yogurt ranch" - buy non-fat plain greek yogurt and mix in ranch dip seasoning (that you buy in the packets) - it's…

If I'm going for a short run (under 4 miles), I won't eat anything. But if I'm doing anything from 5-8, I eat a pack of Kellogs Pastry Crisps (100 cals) - just have a litlte something in my stomach. And then if I'm doing a long run (8-15 miles), I have to eat atleast 200 calories or so first, but I like to eat and then…
