On the sight weight lifting shows as not burning calories. I would check other places on the internet and find out how much you are likely burning and add in your own workout with the calories. I do circuit training which is under cardio, so I track it that way.

I put a towel down and use the wipes they supply after to wipe up any sweat I left behind. Although I usually don't lift after cardio, there are times I do. I just have a towel and put it down. Wipe off the machine after with the wipes they supply to do that.

Trainers are really good at teaching you the exercises. It can be very helpful for form and to get started. As for the food aspect, I would watch that part, not all trainers are nutritionists and don't always give the best food advice. So just be aware of the calories and what he is expecting.
