  • Yay, y'all have been SO well!! Sounds like Jamie Easton's plan is a good one! I on sort on piecemeal plans for the moment. I have my two weekly work outs at work and then I am supplementing with other stuff. Rachel Cosgrove's 45 minute workout has become a favorite stand alone of mine. I am not worrying about carbs for the…
  • Hey, check out my profile for pictures. I'm just under 5'6. SW: ~155 Weight in photos: ~142 CW ~139 BF ~ 22%
  • Can you do even a week later? I think the main difference will be mental...if you put in a solid week of work outs and health you will feel better at the shoot and worry less over vacation. Regardless, I am sure you will look fabulous!!
  • Love the bikini pic shander! You look awesome! Love the swimsuit too! Despite my best intentions, yesterday wasn't great. My sister had an allergic reaction to some medication and had to be rushed to the hospital (she lost visions, had trouble breathing, her blood pressure bottomed out). Thankfully she is just fine now but…
  • AWESOME! Congratulations, Amy! Say it burned 30% more calories than hiking...take the hiking number and multiply it by 1.3 and manually change it? And I am TOTALLY with you ladies on getting back to it! I wanted to do it last week but found I just wasn't quite ready. However, I woke up this morning and did Rachel…
  • Yeah, I am beginning to think that way. I think when I started this journey in January it was crucial that I didn't let myself off the hook, even if I was tired etc. Now that I think I've begun to really internalize some of these changes I feel more trusting of my body when it says, I don't want to do that! Flexibility…
  • okay, so despite my best intentions this week has not been going well! I have been trying to make healthy choices but didn't pay much attention to the carbs or work outs. I am going to get back on it today but hold off on the carb cutting until next week and restart... Also, does anyone have those weeks when it feels like…
  • Eating at my work is similar...its difficult to tell how many calories are in a prepared dish! I generally will look it up on recipe sites that include nutritional information, compare them to one another, check the MFP database and if there is nothing there then I will add the recipe myself. A note on calories: in studies…
  • While I wouldn't worry all that much about the calories I always log them because they affect other things this website helps you track like macronutrients, fiber, etc.
  • Hi Friends! I'm a little over 5'5 (5'5.5 and pretending to be 5'6!) SW - 155 CW - 139 GW - 134 You see pictures in my profile :) Also, body fat has become my main focus. I first measured it about 4 or 5 weeks into MFP and started at 26.6% and am now around 22%
  • Ah, yes, those dreaded social gathering and interruptions to the schedule! Sometimes I embrace them as a "high carb" or cheat day but when they come smack dab in the middle of the week they feel like a nuisance. I've been finding the more that I steel my resolve right before the crucial moment (looking at the menu, picking…
  • Also, I'm starting a new 2 week challenge here but having trouble deciding on work outs. My friend burned me the first 4 weeks of insanity so I think I might try that. Too bad I am already off schedule by a day and I don't think I can commit to working out 6 days a week on top of my 2 midday work out sessions. I might just…
  • Love all the costumes! Just found out I may be up at Notre Dame for Halloween weekend (the BF went there and his brother goes there now) so I will be in a college atmosphere and a ridiculous costume is a must!
  • Weights! Weights! Weights! If you want article I can find some but really, weights have made such a difference for my body.
  • Since we're talking about this...I put my costumes for the last two years in my profile pics. I'm the pink pony and the blue troll :)
  • Interesting! I am doing carb cycling. I'll keep that in mind. BIG FAT 0's SO FAR! Which is quite a triumph because last night I had a committee meeting at a restaurant and ordered only a diet coke when everyone was drinking and after met some fmaily at a bar and had another diet along with 1 piece of pizza and some bean…
  • LOVE that idea! I was thinking of trying to be Poison Ivy (from the Batman movies) but want the abs for it :) Also, sounds like y'all are doing awesome! I didn't get my work out in yesterday but did two yesterday and hopefully two today too. Also, last night I went to two different restaurants to meet people and didn't…
  • I understand what you're saying...I've gone through those phases myself where I worked out for a while, got healthier, and eventually stopped. Same with eating well. I've been on here for over 6 months, which is the longest I have stuck to routine, and found the key for me is not "not falling off" but knowing that I have…
  • I went to Kanrocksas...it is the first year for it. Basically, a bunch of the acts coming to and from Lollapalooza stopped by and it was pretty awesome. Did well eating low carb and went on my walk! Back to strength classes today and hopefully some cardio!
  • Oh. My. God. So lushy. 7-10 beers on Thursday (dollar beer night) plus a shot of vodka. 9-12 drinks on Friday (started at 3 pm with summer brew and continued through the evenings) 9-12 drink on Satuday (same as above) So lushy, so tired! I love the music festival but my liver hated it.
  • I am getting back into routine this week. I am going back to carb cycling and excited to make the effort and see where it gets me. I am not sure on work out. I think I might do another 2-3 week of doing the sexy lady series with some extra workouts in there. Not sure where I am with fat and weight after last week but…
  • I use the handheld one...I don't what to tell you about accuracy because I wonder about mine too! I know that mine has an "athlete" setting and a "normal" setting based on how much you work out (I expect that almost all of us would fall under athlete). I got calipers done before that were much higher (lik 4-5%) which I'm…
  • So begins the lushing soon....tonight with kickball league followed by dollar beer night, then two days of music festival. The BF and I got two 30 packs and two bottles of burnetts (for summer brew) for the weekend. Think it will be enough! Have a fab weekend, friends!
  • That's the point. People are taking about when W is constant (ie, W1=1 lbs, W2= 1 lbs, them M1 is not equal to M2). Let's not tell people they don't understand because they can't work through the equation. Their intuition is right. 1 lbs = 1lbs = 1lbs. But you are right on the mass issue of course.
  • Haha, yeah, they are pretty big in my area for young people! The league's subtitle is "we like big red balls" and my team is the "rubber busters" (all the other teams are innuendo too). You drink beer the whole time then go to dollar beer night. It's going to be a lushy few months of Thursdays! I love Halloween too! Mostly…
  • Thanks mamareese! And Amy, no costume...I thought it would be hard enough without the extras of a costume. Also, I didn't have a big group doing it with me. Maybe next year we'll do some! I also didn't do knee pads, turns out they were really necessary (we didn't any any crawling). I am recovering just fine. Still a little…
  • Agree...to a point. Body recomposition is the name of the game for those of us trying not to just lose weight, but change how we look. In that case, I think the calories you put in your, the type and where they come from, are very important. When I started MFP I only cared about whether I had calories enough for certain…
  • Hi! I agree that calorie vs. carb debate is not clear and people have to eat what works for their bodies. That said, I think MFP's allowance for carbs is super high and most people hit the carbs and their protein is really low, especially women. I changed my goals to 40% carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein. Good carbs should…
  • Hello friends and happy August! I feel a little like I failed you all....on Sunday I did the warrior dash and you get a free beer at the end. Well it was 105 degree heat index and I so exhausted/hot/tired/dehydrated that I gave away my free beer :( In hindsight, it was the right decision but still, I don't believe in not…
  • Hi Friends! Back after a busy weekend. Did the warrior dash...INTENSE! it took me just under an hour...my last 5k was about 27 minutes! It was SUPER hot here and my main focus was not hurting myself on the terrain and not getting heat exhaustion. It was a challenge and I'm happy I did it. My carbs were great last week. I…
