Hi. I'm living in South east Ireland agus tá cupla focal agam. (I have a few words) Like most people living in Ireland it's a necessity in school, but yet very few people speak it. Thankfully though, there are now Irish primary schools, called Gael scoils, (aged 5-12) starting to appear where all subjects are taught…

Hi, I'm here everyday, current weight 223, and about 54 lbs down since April this year. Please feel free to add me. My goal is not to look good, or to look slim, it's to be healthy, eat well, sometimes I'll treat myself, but after being diagnosed with Asthma, then had a racing heart beat, I need to start taking my health…

Do you feel overwhelmed because you think you've too much to lose? If so, just break it down into manageable goals. If you're looking for some ideas for food, try looking through your friend's diaries. If you haven't enough friends, go look for them in the forums. Add me if you want to also. And I agree with trying to get…

I've been seeing a nutritionalist for weight loss since April of this year. While I've lost 50 lbs, she is always telling me that I'm retaining fluid, even though I drink an average of 2 litres per day. If I'm at the gym (3-4 days per week) I'll drink more. I usually stop drinking water by 4pm. I don't drink coffee, and…

Hi, I agree with everyone else. Log your food, log your exercise. That's actually how I found MFP. I was looking for an app to log my food. Couldn't do all that writing, but my phone is with me 24/7. And, if you need some love and support, please feel free to add me. Believe me, I have up and down days, like most people…

Hi Mary, What are the chances that you could be losing fat, but gaining muscle? Either ways, don't give up. Keep going. Stay eating healthy, be careful you're not under eating. And feel free to rant. I often do, either in my status updates or in my blog. Maybe it's all the pent up frustration that holding you back. haha.

Love your tips. So much common sense and practical tips. A lot of people look for quick success and secret formulas, they don't exist. It takes hard work, determination and guts. Well done. And I wish you well on your maintenance going forward.

Last night shopping... bottle of water, 750 mls, with a touch of lemon and lime. I had drank half of it, when I noticed the label. 177 calories in the whole bottle. Luckily I had only drank half of it. But still, 177 calories, flavoured water? Are you for real?

In Ireland, the secondary schools close end of May, and the primary schools close end of June, so we're well into the school holiday season here. And the weather is absolutely gorgeous. I'm taking full advantage of the weather spring cleaning the house. Getting rid of clothes that don't fit, to the charity shop with them,…

I've already lost an elephant's heart, but I want to lose an elephant's penis as well to reach my goal. Then maybe the elephant in me will be gone forever!

During this heatwave, here's something to keep you cool, and keep your mouth busy. Put some grapes in the freezer. Love the idea of the banana in the freezer too, must try that!

totally agree with what everyone is saying. I think your calories are too low. Don't worry about not being able to do any exercise other than walking. Being active and moving is sufficient. Stick with it, make sure you're eating healthy. If you're eating the same foods every day, change them around a little. Try something…

Hi, I've tried a good few of the named diets over the years too, but yet here I am again. Firstly, regarding the kitchen, I don't really consider it a battle ground. I look at it as the place where all my family come together. It's a meeting ground. We all eat around the table every evening, and enjoy the chat and the…

Don't look at the big number you have to lose. Break it down. You have 7lbs gone already, well done! As everyone else says, Log everything, this will also help you reduce your food intake as well as knowing what you're eating. Eat sensibly, I have a fruit porridge for breakfast as it fills me up, and I'm not snacking as…

Hi all, although I'm not from the UK, I am only next door, in Ireland. Would love to connect up with you all cos you're all in the same time zone as me. So if you don't mind, I've sent you all friend requests. I'm 45, married with 2 teenagers, 42lbs down, and another 50-60 to go.

I like the one in my profile pic, When the day is over, LET IT GO. Don't dwell on what you could've or should've done. Tomorrow is another day and another chance.

Thank you for sharing your story. It helps us that are struggling to know that our weight loss, no matter how much or little we need to lose, is totally achievable, and worthwhile. We just need to stick with it. And when we lose track, or fall, we just need to pick ourselves up again, and keep going on. Thank you again.
